of Professional Learning

- Permanent Full-time - 3-point allowance

The Principal, Mr Mark Bonnici, invites suitably qualified leaders to submit their application for the position of Director of Professional Learning.

This is a Senior Leadership position in the College and is commensurate with the equivalent of a 3-point allocation in time and salary. The Director component of the role spans three years initially, with the option for a further three-year extension, subject to a professional review in the third year. The successful applicant will also maintain an appropriate teaching load.

The Director of Professional Learning is directly responsible to the Principal for leading and managing the professional learning of staff of the College in accordance with NESA accreditation requirements.

The Director of Professional Learning is an outstanding educator who is able to guide and advise teaching staff on professional learning in relation to their practice, especially in the area of boys’ education, and thus enhance the quality of teaching and learning. In doing so, the Director of Professional Learning demonstrates support for Catholic philosophy and values as expressed in the Charter for Edmund Rice Schools. They possess professional and personal attributes that enable them to influence others to improve their practice. They successfully lead initiatives that make a positive contribution to the quality of the school and professional community.

The Director of Professional Learning has the ability to provide strategic direction to the professional learning agenda of the College and guide teachers in the teacher accreditation process.

Applicants are asked to provide:

1. A completed Employment Application form (available on College website).

2. A cover letter outlining reasons for your interest in the position (one page).

3. A Curriculum Vitae with two referees including current employer.

4. A statement addressing the essential requirements below (please limit your response to no more than five pages).

Essential Criteria

The position requires a person who:

• Has an affinity with and appreciation for the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice and the EREA Charter Touchstones.

• Will contribute significantly to the design, implementation, leadership and monitoring of the College Strategic Plan. They will also be central to the design, implementation and leadership of the College Annual Strategic Goals.

• Is able to contribute significantly to the College learning agenda through their leadership of the NESA Teacher Accreditation Process and the St Edward’s Professional Learning Partnership Framework.

• Has the capacity to provide effective advice to the College Principal and contribute positively to the College Senior Leadership Team.

• Can demonstrate an excellent understanding of contemporary educational research on pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning.

• Can demonstrate successful leadership utilising effective organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills;

• Can demonstrate an ability to relate positively with students, staff, parents and community members and a dynamic approach to working in a collaborative team.

Commencement Arrangement

The successful applicant will commence this permanent full-time position in January 2026.
