St. Columba School stands over 140 years strong thanks to our community members and their incredible generosity and dedication. Our stewardship efforts focus on building and maintaining authentic relationships with you—our donors—to ensure that you understand the impact of your gifts to St. Columba. Your support plays a critical role in the success of our school as we continue to place the needs of our students at the center of our mission of Teaching Gospel truth and moral value in an environment of academic excellence according to Catholic tradition. We continue to be humbled by your generosity and the success of last year's Giving Day as parents, grandparents, alumni, parishioners, faculty, staff, and friends generously donated over $245,000 in direct support of our students, teachers, and programs. The Annual Report recognizes those donors for their generosity and commitment to our mission. Every gift, no matter the size, makes an impact. We will have hard copies available in the office soon. One Week Until St. Columba Day of Giving! J oin the St. Columba Community on Wednesday, January 31st! Stay tuned for more information on this exciting 24-Hour Day of Giving . We will provide a number of exciting events and updates on classroom participation and fun donor challenges. 1882 GIVING SOCIETY Named in honor of our founding year, the 1882 Giving Society recognizes individuals, families, and businesses who make annual gifts (including matching gifts) for $1,882 or more in support of St. Columba's Annual Campaign. Membership is renewable annually. Society members receive special recognition in St. Columba's Annual Report and are invited to special events including a celebration of Cocktails, Chocolate & Wine at Animas Chocolate following the Day of Giving. The society celebrates donors who represent every constituency, including parents, grandparents, alumni, parishioners, and our many friends of St. Columba School. It might be cold outside in February, but warm-hearted fun goes on at the annual Catholic Schools Week Family Mass and Carnival. This is a very popular event for our students. You don't want to miss it.
Join us at the 5pm Mass on Saturday, February 3rd to celebrate with your St. Columba family. We’ll then head to the school gym to enjoy our CSW carnival full of games, food, drinks, and laughter from 68pm. This carnival and dinner is completely FREE as we thank you for being part of our St. Columba community. Event Info & Volunteer Opportunities: Help us plan ahead by reserving your food by clicking here . It's quick and easy. Craft beer and wine will be offered for a suggested $5 donation. As always, your helping hands are needed to provide the fun. Please sign up for a 1/2-hour shift to serve the meal, work the bar, or take a shift at one of the fun carnival games. Click here to sign up. We would love to have middle schoolers and high schoolers join the fun at the face-painting booth. They are also welcome to help take a shift at any of the other carnival games! Click here to sign up. Parents Coffee, Friday, February 9th, 8am at Taste (after morning drop off): Join the Parents Association for coffee and fellowship on the 2nd Friday of every month starting in February. All are welcome! Come have coffee or tea with other parents on the 2nd Friday of every month. This will be an opportunity to connect with each other and discuss school happenings. This month's topics will include sharing ideas for upcoming spring events. We look forward to seeing you!

Prayer & Praise Assembly February 1 All students will be attending our next Prayer & Praise assembly on February 1st at 8:15 and families are invited to join us. Each assembly includes lessons from Fr. Kevin and Mr. Chick, an introduction of our Friendzy theme of the month, and honoring our St. Columba award winners who go above and beyond expectations. At our February Prayer & Praise, we will also be recognizing our 4th-8th graders (listed above) who made honor roll for the 2nd quarter.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS FR. KEVIN PROVIDES WEEKLY SCRIPTURE REFLECTION QUESTIONS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS ENRICH THEIR FAITH BY CONTEMPLATING SUNDAY READINGS.
Based on the readings for the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Readings: Dt 18:15-20/1 Cor 7:32-35/Mk 1:21-28 (71) Pss IV Since the Jewish People had rejected and actually broken the slate engraved with the Ten Commandments brought down from Sinai by Moses, the Book of Deuteronomy provides lists of laws providing another chance for the Jews to keep the Law. Today’s reading focuses on a unique contribution of Deuteronomy: the promise of a prophet who will remind Israel of her essential relationship with God. What are the essential values/virtues that are essential to your relationship with God? Is your legacy one of example or financial contributions or…? The continuation of Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians re-emphasizes last week’s message of the primacy of our relationship with God above all else. How in your own life, does your awareness of Christ’s priority transform your other relationships? Are the homely interactions with family, friends, colleagues, service providers transformed because you are in Christ? Can they be? Mark’s telling the story of Jesus preaching in his home synagogue and his driving out an unclean spirit bring his neighbors to amazement. Amazement. How have you experienced amazement at Christ’s presence? How has this experience empowered you to spread Good News in action not just in word?

Altar Server Training will be held from 3:105:00pm on Thursday, February 8th with PIZZA and Deacon Chris. Anyone who has already received their sacraments of First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation AND is 4th grade or older is eligible to be trained. All current altar servers are highly encouraged to come to refresh their skills (and eat pizza)! Students, please meet in Mrs. Robertson's room at 3:10 for pizza, and then afterward we will head over to the church. Parents can pick up at 5:00pm in front of the church.
