In PSHE this week, IV Group (Year 10) learnt about their upcoming Mock Interview Day on Tuesday 30 June and received a guide in how to prepare for the event
This exciting opportunity will help our students practice interview skills in a safe and fun way, developing career skills for life.
Each student will ‘apply’ for a fictional job, write an application letter and CV They will practice interview techniques through role-play in PSHE and consider how to manage nerves.
On Mock Interview Day, each IV Group student will attend a 30 minute mock interview, with one of our parent volunteers There will be an opportunity for feedback and reflection about the interview experience
We are very grateful to all of the parents and friends who volunteered their time for this event, and look forward to welcoming them into St Chris, if not for this event, then a future Mock Interview Day, as we hope this will be the first of many.

Opportunities
Canaccord Wealth Management Insight Programme will take place on 24 and 25 June 2026, hosted by Investment Managers Alysha Goddard and Tom Stevens. This two-day online event introduces future talent to the world of Wealth Management. Participants will gain insight into how each function contributes to the growth and success of Canaccord Wealth, along with an overview of the wider industry. The programme features guest speakers and presentations delivered by colleagues from across the business.

Interestingly, a recent report by Adobe shows that 92% of UK undergraduates now use AI (up from 66% last year), but only 36% have received any training from their institution. Read the full report about AI in Higher Education here.

A herpetologist is a zoologist who specialises in the study of amphibians (frogs, toads, salamanders) and reptiles (snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodiles).
They focus on the behavior, ecology, genetics, and conservation of these animals, working in universities, zoos, museums, or environmental field agencies.
The government has announced £1 billion to create 200,000 new jobs and apprenticeships for 16-24 year olds including a £2,000 incentive for employers taking on young apprentices and a new Jobs Guarantee expanded to ages 18-24.

University summer schools and residentials offer students a chance to experience university life and live like a student for a short period. These programs may include academic aspects as well as activities like sports, cultural excursions, and social events to give students a taste of the university experience You can view many options here Eligibility criteria, such as being from underrepresented backgrounds, may apply to these events
Established in 1989, LSE Summer School is now the largest of its kind in the world. The programme offers courses from a diverse range of disciplines including business and management, accounting, finance, law, economics, international relations, and more. From Economic Policy to AI for Business, the courses are wide-ranging and aim to suit all interests.
Global Summer School at Imperial London welcomes more than 550 students, representing over 50 nationalities to Imperial every year. The two-week programme offers students a unique opportunity to develop their STEM subject knowledge and gain practical skills alongside likeminded students, while adding weight to their future university applications

Key Information:
The first option is the ‘DIY’ approach, contacting university coaches directly to inform them of your interest in their programme and of your talent.
The second option is to work with a sport scholarship agency or placement service to connect with US universities actively seeking international student athletes and offering scholarships. In order to get an athletic scholarship, you need to meet the academic requirements of the particular athletic association, as well as the sporting requirement.
