ThiswasSophiaandOliverCarter’sfirstspringtogether.Ithadbeenthreemonthssince theyhadofficiallybecomefatheranddaughter.Today,theyweremeetingupwithOliver’s twobrothers,HarryandJohn,whocameroundeveryFridaynighttoplayboardgamesmostlychess,buttherewereothergamesplayed.Theyweremeetingupinthemeadow whichwasveryclosetotheirhouse.Sophialikedthemeadowbecausetherewerelotsof dandelionsforhertoblowanddaisiesforhertomakedaisychainswith.
“Wherearethey?”saidSophia,herarmsswingingimpatiently. “Noidea,kiddo,”repliedOliver.
AfewmoreminutespassedandjustasOliverwasabouttoringhisbrotherstoaskthem wheretheywere,Sophiaspottedthemwalkingtowardsthemandstartedtohappy-stim.
“Icanseethem!”sheshoutedtoOliver Heturnedaround
“Toldyoutheywouldbehereeventually,”hereplied.Thetwobrotherseventuallyjoined them,andtheyallsharedagrouphug “Wherehaveyoubeen?Ithoughtshewould combustifyoudidn’tarrivesoon,”OliversaidtoHarry.
“Wegotcaughtinquitethetrafficjam,”Harryreplied “Didyoubringit?”OliveraskedJohn.
“Idid,”Johnrepliedashebroughtoutakite
“Soph!”calledHarrytoSophia,asshewaslostinherownworldwhichhappenedquitealot thesedays Sophiaturnedaround “Haveyoueverflownakitebefore?”askedJohn.Sophiashookherhead.
“Wouldyouliketo?It’stheperfectconditionsforit,”saidOliver “Iwouldloveto!”repliedSophia,whowasstrugglingtostandstillnowandshufflingfrom foottofoot
“Thenlet’sdoit,”saidOliver.HeandSophiadidtheirsecrethandshake.Allthreebrothers triedtoinstructSophiahowtoflythekitebutshecouldn’tquitegetit.
“I’llgetitupintheairforyouthenhanditovertoyou.Howdoesthatsound?”askedHarry. “Ok,”repliedSophia.
Harryranwiththekitethroughthemeadowandmanagedtocatchthekiteonthewind. Thekitesoaredintotheairandeveryonecheered.Harrypassedthehandleandstringover toSophiaandshemanagedtokeepitintheairforawhile.Thensuddenlythewind stoppedandthekitetumbledtotheground.TheexpressionthatwasonJohn’sfacemade Sophiaburstoutlaughingandeventuallytheywerealllaughingtogether,asthehappy andslightlyquirkyfamilythattheywereallmeanttobe.
