With gratitude and joy, I thank you for your generous support of St. Cecilia Academy and for your commitment to the mission of Catholic education. Your partnership allows our school to flourish as a vibrant, faith-filled community where young women are known, loved, and formed in mind, heart, and spirit.

Rooted in the long-standing Dominican tradition, our mission is to educate young women in truth, wisdom, and virtue. At SCA, we seek to form the whole person by nurturing the intellectual and moral life, virtuous friendships, and confident leadership, while inspiring each student to discover and embrace her God-given gifts.

This mission comes alive each day because of you – our parents, grandparents, alumnae, parents and grandparents of alumnae, and devoted friends – who give so generously of your resources, prayers, and encouragement. Your support serves the young women of today and tomorrow by enabling us to grow our programs, offer tuition assistance, and pursue new initiatives.

In a special way, we recognize the benefactors named in this report. Because of your generosity, St. Cecilia students experience a rich and transformative education – from rigorous academics and leadership development to fine arts, athletics, and faith formation. During the 2024–2025 school year – SCA’s 164th – we celebrated three seniors named National Merit Scholars, graduates accepted to the nation’s most selective colleges, and a student advancing her acrobatics and tumbling career at the Division I collegiate level. Across all grades, our students earned countless honors in academics, arts, and athletics. We also completed renovations to the theater lobby and launched a campaign for a new Athletic and Wellness Center that will serve every student and transform the student experience for years to come.

ST. CECILIA ACADEMY

Exercising its mission on the foundation of the life and teaching of the Catholic Church, St. Cecilia Academy ennobles young women, equips them to excel, and inspires them to lead lives of integrity. We are grateful to our dedicated faculty and staff, who, in partnership with our families and with support from our generous donors, have significant highlights to share from the 2024-2025 school year:

OVERALL

• St. Cecilia Academy was voted one of the Top 3 Best High Schools by Nashville Scene’s 2024 Best of Nashville Readers’ Poll.

• Campus investments included new indoor and outdoor athletic equipment, St. Cecilia Academy Theater lobby renovation, and security enhancements.

ACADEMICS

• One student was named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist, and two others were named Commended Scholars.

• Two students earned the 2024 CLT10 Regional Scholar Award, and one was named a Distinguished Scholar.

• The Class of 2025 was accepted to many colleges and universities, including Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, Georgetown University, New York University, Northeastern University, Northwestern University, Stanford University, University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame, University of Virginia, Vanderbilt University, and Washington & Lee University.

ATHLETICS

• St. Cecilia Academy received the A.F. Bridges Award by the TSSAA, which is the highest award given to a school and recognizes the efforts to promote citizenship and sportsmanship at school and at athletic contests.

• A St. Cecilia Academy athlete placed at the State level in Track & Field (5th and 8th).

• At the region level, students made the TSSAA Lacrosse and Track & Field teams, and one other student received All-Region Honorable Mention for Volleyball.

• Two members of the Class of 2025 are continuing their athletic careers at the D1 collegiate level in Acrobatics and Tumbling at Baylor University and in Cheer at Vanderbilt University.

FINE ARTS

• St. Cecilia girls were chosen for Mid-State and All-State Honor Orchestra and Mid-State and All-State Honor Choir and were selected to participate in Youth Orchestras and Youth Choirs through Vanderbilt University at the Blair School of Music.

• Students were accepted into the Middle Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition and, won Scholastic Art Awards while other artwork was showcased at the Teens Take the Frist exhibit at the Frist Art Museum.

• Belmont University School of Physical Therapy continued its study of the movement of St. Cecilia dance students. The research will help shape the future of dance education and injury prevention.

• In the Nashville High School Musical Theater Spotlight Awards, St. Cecilia students won in the following categories: Applause Award (1), All Star Cast (2), and All Star Crew (2).

FAITH AND COMMUNITY

• SCA students volunteered at organizations across Nashville to help those in need, including Mary Queen of Angels, Heart of Mary House, and Room in the Inn.

• Some students participated in the “Servio Deo” trip, delivering assistance to those recovering from storm damage in North Carolina.

• Internationally, students spent time in Lourdes, France serving the sick and elderly pilgrims and in Italy for interim, exploring culture, history, and religious sites.

Ways to Support St. Cecilia Academy

The St. Cecilia Academy community of parents, grandparents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, foundations, corporate sponsors, and friends support St. Cecilia Academy for many reasons, including a deep love for the school, gratitude for the impact, a desire to see SCA thrive, and a shared commitment to the mission of ennobling young women, equipping them to excel, and inspiring them to lead lives of integrity.

There are many ways to support SCA philanthropically, including:

ANNUAL FUND – The Annual Fund is the foundation of the school’s development program and the top fundraising priority. Along with tuition and endowment earnings, the Annual Fund is a significant source of revenue for the current school year’s operating budget. It is the most important source of unrestricted funds and helps cover the difference between tuition and the actual cost of educating each young woman enrolled at SCA.

SPECIAL EVENTS – Events help to build community and often generate essential funds. St. Cecilia Academy hosts a golf tournament in the fall and a Rose Gala dinner and auction in the spring. Proceeds support general operations or an identified special project.

ENDOWED GIFTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

– A gift to the endowment is a gift for today and for the future. Endowment gifts are permanently invested, and interest earned is directed to tuition assistance, operating needs, or another designated purpose.
