Master of Science in Nursing Nurse Educator
About the Program The online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Nurse Educator program at St. Catherine University is for bachelor’s or master’s-prepared registered nurses (RNs) who are ready to help prepare the next generation of healthcare providers. Nurse educators teach in universities; conduct staff trainings on new policies, products and pharmaceuticals; create simulation labs for nursing students; and educate patients. They combine their nursing knowledge with a passion for inspiring others to learn. St. Kate’s has been on the forefront of nursing education since 1905. Our nurses are leaders who think holistically and equitably about the needs and wishes of patients, families and communities. In our program you will: • Become increasingly skilled in the science of teaching • Benefit from a curriculum infused with a strong sense of social justice • Learn to identify and eliminate inequities to improve the quality of education for all • Contribute to diversifying the nursing workforce • Get a head start on a doctorate – up to 12 credits from the Nurse Educator program can be applied toward our Post-Master’s DNP. Our Curriculum The 33-credit Nurse Educator program can be completed in just under two years; an accelerated one-year plan of study is also available. Courses meet year-round, with classes offered primarily in an asynchronous learning format; some courses will include occasional synchronous meeting times. Evidence-based courses focus on principles of the education process, assessment of learning styles, needs and characteristics of diverse learners, and innovative instructional techniques and evaluation strategies. You'll have the foundational knowledge to design dynamic learning experiences that are flexible, relevant and responsive to the emerging trends in nursing, health care and society in diverse practice environments. Our faculty are experts in the field, with relevant work experiences and connections across the healthcare and education industries.
