PHILOSOPHY Do you like debating unanswerable questions? Is independent thinking something you respect? Do you like to question hidden assumptions and challenge perceived authority? Studying philosophy is an excellent way to prepare for the world. Studies show people with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy have a high starting salary, and tend to earn more over their lifetime than people with degrees in any other humanities field.* Perhaps it is because philosophy demands a special type of mental rigor, along with sharp critical thinking and writing skills, the ability to engage in meaningful discourse and constant examination of ethics and social justice issues. All qualities that set a solid foundation for a future in any career.
