BIOLOGY Do you have a curiosity about the biological makeup of living things and how they all work together? Do you aspire to make a difference in fields like healthcare, environmental conservation, or biotechnology? Are you eager to explore the cutting-edge advancements in genetics, neuroscience, and ecology? St. Catherine University is a leader in developing women scientists through research-based, integrated biology curriculum. You will develop a strong foundation in core biological concepts as well as current laboratory and field techniques. You will build analytical, writing, presentation, and collaborative skills and use a variety of cutting-edge techniques in molecular, cellular, physiological, and field biology — preparing you for your next career step. St. Kate’s biology graduates are well-poised to pursue professional programs and careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, public health, forensic science, physician assistant studies, and more.

YOU WILL LEARN TO: • Understand biology from molecules to ecosystems, and the interrelationships between organisms and their environment • Understand the core principles of human anatomy, physiology, and cutting-edge genetics such as CRISPR based gene editing • Study microorganisms with special reference to those that cause diseases as well as help society • Engage in hands-on research with faculty and interns, utilize state-of-the-art equipment, tackle challenges creatively, and collaborate effectively in research-based coursework • Think critically, gather, analyze, and synthesize data to find solutions • Work with a committed group of students in the Bioclub to build career and campus sustainability initiatives

CAREER PATHS TO EXPLORE FORENSIC SCIENTIST Analyze biological clues for police departments and other law enforcement agencies BIOLOGICAL TECHNICIAN/ RESEARCH ASSISTANTS Collect and prepare biological samples such as blood, food, and bacteria QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN Maintain quality standards in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, or biotechnology HEALTHCARE SALES REPRESENTATIVE Market and sell medical devices, laboratory equipment, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology products ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER Develop solutions to issues relating to the environment and climate SCIENCE WRITER OR COMMUNICATOR Translate complex scientific concepts into accessible language for the general public through writing, editing, journalism, or multimedia content creation
