Swansea Greener Grid Park Extension
Our team are here to discuss our plans, listen to your views and outline the next steps of our proposed plans for a Battery Energy Storage System extension to Swansea Greener Grid Park.
CONSENTED CONSTRUCTION LAYOUT The application received unanimous support from Swansea Council and is currently under construction. It will increase the stability of the electricity grid using synchronous compensators, allowing more renewable energy to be delivered to the network and help achieve zero carbon emissions.
Ongoing Construction Works Construction of Swansea Greener Grid Park began in Autumn 2024. It is expected to be fully operational around 18 months from the start of construction. The site currently being constructed will help deliver stable, secure and cheaper power to households and businesses in Wales. A groundbreaking ceremony in December 2024 was attended by the First Minister of Wales – Rt. Hon. Eluned Morgan MS and the Energy Minister – Michael Shanks MP.
PLANNED EXTENSION 100MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Batteries capture energy and store it for use later to keep supply and demand balanced. These systems can be charged by renewable energy sources like wind and solar. If planning permission is granted, we estimate the project will be operational in 2027.
