TRADITIONS ASU Welcome Your Sun Devil journey kicks off with ASU Welcome. A series of free, high-energy events designed to help you meet new friends, explore campus, and dive into student life. Whether you’re new or returning, this is your chance to connect, celebrate, and find your place at ASU.
homecoming parade A campus favorite, the Homecoming Parade is a vibrant celebration of ASU spirit. Student orgs, campus groups, and local businesses roll through Downtown Tempe with custom floats, music, and tons of maroon and gold. Don’t miss it - it’s a true Sun Devil spectacle!
lantern walk Held the night before Homecoming, Lantern Walk is one of ASU’s oldest and most cherished traditions. Students, alumni, and staff hike up “A” Mountain carrying lanterns, lighting a path in a symbolic show of unity, pride, and Sun Devil spirit.

territorial cup One of the fiercest rivalries in college football, the annual ASU vs. UArizona game isn’t just about bragging rights; it’s about history. The Territorial Cup is the oldest rivalry trophy in the country, dating back to the days when Arizona was still a U.S. territory. It’s Sun Devils vs. Wildcats, and it’s always personal.

WHAT I WISH I KNEW MY FIRST YEAR AT ASU - Emma Thompson If I could give my first-year self one piece of advice, it would be this: don't worry about having everything all figured out. Your first year at ASU is full of new experiences, exciting opportunities, and more unknowns than you can count. While it may seem like everyone else has everything under control, the reality is that most students are figuring things out one day at a time. One of the best ways to make ASU feel like home is to get involved. Attend campus events, join a club, or simply introduce yourself to your classmates. Those small moments can lead to lifelong friendships and unforgettable experiences. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Visit your professors during office hours, use ASU's tutoring center, and take advantage of the many free resources available across campus. They're designed to help you succeed. It’s just as important to make time for yourself. Rest when you need it, stay active, and go easy on yourself when things don't go as planned. It's okay if your major, goals, or interests change along the way — college is a time to explore and grow. Most importantly, say yes to opportunities that excite you, but don't feel pressured to do everything. Your first year is about discovering what works for you. Stay curious, ask questions, and embrace the unexpected. Before you know it, you'll be the one sharing advice. Enjoy the journey & welcome to the Sun Devil family!

32 Campus Shuttles
These buses will transport students, faculty, and staff between campuses. There are four types of routes for shuttles: Gold (Poly-Tempe) Maroon (Tempe, Downtown, and West) Mercado (Tempe-Downtown) Tempe-West Express (Tempe-West)
Valley Metro Rail
The Valley Metro Rail will transport you from North Phoenix all the way to East Mesa. Single rides start at $2, and students can buy a pass for the school year for $150.
Tempe Street Car
The streetcar differs from light rail in that it shares the roadway with vehicle traffic. Streetcars arrive at stops every 15-20 minutes. Fares are $1 per ride.
ASU Park & Ride Save money and skip the stress of hunting for on-campus parking with ASU’s Park & Ride lots. Students can park at designated off-campus lots and hop on a free shuttle or FLASH route to get to class quickly. It’s budget-friendly, convenient, and perfect for avoiding campus traffic.
