Hume council could be forced to pay millions of dollars in subsidies to a stand-alone Sunbury council as the Liberal Party plans to base the new council on a similar model to the one proposed four years ago. Liberal candidate for Sunbury Cassandra Marr confirmed a Coalition government would create the new council using similar financial modelling to that used in 2014 when the Napthine government gave the go-ahead for Sunbury to split from Hume. Under the previous modelling, Hume council was required to pay $24 million in subsidies to Sunbury council for the first 10 years of its existence. Ms Marr said she could not rule out Hume council being asked to pay a subsidy. The revelation comes as Hume councillors raise concerns about the Liberal’s plan to split Sunbury from Hume if they win the state election. The councillors recently wrote to Ms Marr and Liberal candidate for Yuroke Jim Overend, seeking an assurance that Hume residents would not have to subsidise the new council. The council said it has been kept in the dark about the proposal, despite writing to Opposition Leader Matthew Guy earlier this year and asking to meet him. Deputy mayor Carly Moore said it was time for the Liberal Party to provide clarity on how Sunbury council will be created and what the financial implications may be. “The previous council went through this process and the previous audit in council included a cross subsidy of over $24 million that Hume would pay to the new Sunbury council … I also know that all of the different reports on this matter have stated an initial start up cost of between $3-$5 million,” she said. “What I seek from [the candidates] is that no such subsidy or financial penalty will exist for the residents [of Hume].” Ms Marr said a Coalition government would ensure there was a fair distribution of assets between Hume and Sunbury councils. She also rejected suggestions that rates in Hume and Sunbury would have to increase beyond the rates cap as a result of the split. Ms Marr told Star Weekly a Coalition government will base Sunbury council on the same boundaries as previously proposed, taking in Sunbury and Bulla. “This will be something we will start work on in our first 100 days of government with an aim to get it up and running as soon as possible,” she said.
A teddy hospital will be part of a Woodend initiative to fix bits and bobs that need repairs. Woodend Neighbourhood House will hold a Repair Cafe next month in a bid to reduce waste by fixing items for free. House co-ordinator Angela Van Dam said the initiative, in conjunction with groups such as the Men’s Shed, was the first of its kind in the Macedon Ranges. “There has been a growing awareness and eagerness to live a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle in the ranges, and a local repair cafe is a great opportunity for the Woodend Neighbourhood House to further support this movement” Ms Van Dam said. “You can bring in everything from bicycles, to wooden furniture, small mechanical items, computers, clothing, and teddy bears needing some love, to start with. “We’ll be happy to have a go at most things except for 240 volt electrical items – generally things with a plug – for safety reasons. “We’re excited about creating a space that will bring together different members of our community so they can connect, share skills, and learn from each other.” The one-stop repairs workshop will be held on the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 1pm, and will operate out of the Undercroft at the Woodend Neighbourhood House. Melton’s hospital crusade By Sumeyya Ilanbey A Melton hospital with an emergency department will save lives, according to a local GP. Dr Marcus Watson has helped Melton council launch its Build Melton Hospital, Invest in the West campaign, calling on political parties to commit to building a public hospital. Melton council wants funding for a feasibility study and a commitment to start construction by July, 2022. The major public campaign was launched 100 days from the state election.
Suitable land for a hospital has already been identified in the Toolern Precinct Structure Plan, near the railway station that’s under construction. Melton council corporate services manager Peter Bean said the council was advocating for a public hospital that would include an emergency department, acute and specialist services and intensive care and surgery units. As part of its campaign, council will highlight the ability of a public hospital in Melton to reduce the pressure on Sunshine, Footscray and Werribee hospitals, which are
more than 30 kilometres away, over-stretched and under-resourced. Dr Watson said that every day he was dealing with an “inadequate” public hospital system stretched beyond its limits. “In medicine, minutes matter. Try holding your breath for five minutes. Time is precious in critical situations.” Melton Labor candidate Justin Mammarella said he was a big advocate for a public hospital in the region, having started a petition for it while Melton mayor in 2011. More parking is on the way for Clarkefield station. Works have started to add more than 75 sealed carparks at the station providing relief for the peak hour parking rush. Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the full carpark upgrade would begin this week for completion by November. The upgrade will include CCTV and lighting, improved accessible parking and pedestrian access to the station platforms. Ms Thomas said that during the works, the unsealed area to the south east of the station would be closed and users should plan ahead to make alternate parking arrangements. “Clarkefield station is getting busier and demand for parking at the station continues to grow – that’s why we’re building these new spaces,” she said on a visit to the station earlier this month. “It will be safer and easier for people to park their cars and catch the train at Clarkefield station thanks to this much-needed upgrade.” The Clarkefield station upgrade is part of the state government’s $22.5 million Road and Rail Minor Works Program being delivered by VicTrack. Youth mentoring program Kidzflip has received a cash boost thanks to a Woodend community initiative. Kidzflip, run by local police officer Jason Azzopardi, was awarded a $500 grant raised through the sale of Boomerang Bags at the Woodend Farmers Market. The Woodend bags team, which sews the bags, launched its community grants program online earlier this year asking residents to nominate and vote for a worthy local cause. Mr Azzopardi said that KidzFlip supports young people to become global citizens by building skills through community engagement. “This is such great news for the youth of the Macedon Ranges,” he said. “This money will

Order to clean up old hospital
By Esther Lauaki The founder of a Macedon Ranges youth leadership group hopes to solve a big problem with tiny houses. Paul Kooperman, of Lancefield’s The Field Trip youth group, proposes to address homelessness by getting young people involved in designing tiny houses to shelter people in need. It is just one of dozens of projects from the Macedon Ranges that have been submitted to the Pick My Project initiative. Pick My Project is a $30 million online community grants program where Victorians vote for projects that need funding. “We would like to build a tiny house for someone who needs a home but can’t afford it,� Mr Kooperman said. Mr Kooperman said he hoped the project would serve as an example to other regions to create more affordable housing for local homeless, students, senior citizens and others who can’t afford their own home. The tiny house movement, where small architect-designed houses are built on trailer frames, continues to gain popularity promoting simple living. Kyneton-based Tiny House Australia founder Darren Hughes said he was pleased to be on board with the project. “This project is something that we can really get involved with by providing designers and registered builders,� Mr Hughes said. “We’ll be working with the kids to get them as involved as possible.� Residents can vote on more than 50 projects in Macedon Ranges as part of the Pick My Project initiative. Developers of the run-down former Kyneton hospital could face large fines if repairs are not made to the derelict site. The state’s heritage authority this month served the owners of the property, Winport Developments, with a notice ordering them to repair issues with the main bluestone building. Improvements to be made to the site include security fencing, replacing a window and bathroom skylight and removing graffiti. The former Kyneton hospital, built in the early 1850s, is of state significance and is on the Victorian Heritage Register. Plans to subdivide the land for residential development and transform the building into two townhouses were exhibited last year but were stalled. Community efforts to find another use for the building, which peaked in 2016 with the SaveOKH campaign, have since dissipated. Kyneton Historical Society secretary Larina Strauch said the group fields many calls about the building. “We hope that an amicable solution can be found and that the decay and rot and neglect can be rectified,� Ms Strauch said. A spokesman for Heritage Victoria told Star Weekly the owners of the building had until last Friday to respond to the notice. Winport Developments was contacted for comment but did not respond. Rescuers feel the pinch By Esther Lauaki Wildlife dart gun rescuers are calling for help as they struggle to continue their work across Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges. Manfred Zabinskas and two other volunteers for the Macedon Ranges Wildlife Network are trained to immobilise animals with a tranquiliser gun in difficult circumstances – but the cost of darts is hurting. “We are the rescuers who get called to the most impossible of situations where all other
rescue techniques are simply too dangerous, either for the animal or human safety,” Mr Zabinskas said. “With no funding available by the government, it’s up to us to try to help ease the financial burden.” He said rescuers had been kept busy in a recent week attending kangaroos, including nine in Sunbury, affected by poisoning from phalaris, a type of grass. Mr Zabinskas said that the team was called out to emergency rescues not only in the local community but statewide.
“Darting rescues include kangaroos and wallabies hit by vehicles, loose on roads, attacked by dogs, trapped in shopping centres, buildings and backyards,” he said. “Charity and volunteers undertake and fund this specialised and necessary work to ensure public safety. We desperately need funds to help cover some of the costs.” Public donations helped fund the darters as well as helping cover the cost of caring for the rescued animals, Mr Zabinskas said. A new road through Sunbury could provide some relief for drivers. The final section of the Elizabeth Drive extension, between Vineyard Road and Mitchells Lane, opened this week, offering an alternate route through the Rosenthal Estate to Racecourse Road. Rosenthal general manager Paul Millett said that the 1.1 kilometre road link, which includes traffic signals and two roundabouts, would “go a long way to easing congestion in the area”. Mr Millett said that the $15 million privately funded project delivered infrastructure that benefits the broader community. “As a local born and bred resident of Sunbury, I understand the traffic congestion challenges of the area, in particular in and around the town centre,” he said. Sunbury MP Josh Bull said the extension was important to the growth of the area. “As Sunbury grows it is important the road network grows and improves to get people home sooner and keep people safer,” Mr Bull said. “This important connection will allow locals to travel through Sunbury faster and easier”. Sunbury Residents’ Association president Peter Free said that the Millett family had contributed significantly to the region. “It is great that the rich Sunbury heritage continues through the use of historical family names as street monikers,” he said. Caravan park plan dumped By Sumeyya Ilanbey Plans for a camping and caravan park in Diggers Rest have been shut down following serious concerns about the site becoming a “stealthy” residential development and “irreversible” impacts on nearby properties. Dean Slaviero lodged a planning application earlier this year with Melton council to build a camping and caravan park on an 18-hectare site at 1376 Calder Highway, Diggers Rest. Mr Slaviero proposed building 85 camping sites, an office, 30 visitor carparking spaces and recreational facilities. He also wanted to
remove indigenous wallaby grass scattered throughout the site and tree violet shrubs. But Melton councillors last week refused to issue him a planning permit in line with the officer recommendation and 140 objections the council received to the application. Diggers Rest residents had raised a number of concerns about the application, including fears the site would attract permanent residents, devalue nearby properties and impact on the rebuilding of the heritage-listed Diggers Rest Hotel on an adjoining site. In their report, council officers said a camping and caravan park was not in line
with the objectives of the green wedge zone in which the site is located. “A camping and caravan park should be located further from an urban growth boundary to maintain the distinct character of Diggers Rest township, the integrity of the urban growth boundary and the landscape values of the green wedge urban interface,” the council report stated. The council report stated: “Of major concern to objectors is the potential for the subject site being used for residential purposes, raising the potential for residential development by stealth
“Given that there is no ability to limit the length of time that camping and caravan park sites can be occupied, there is always the potential for them to become sites for low-cost, long-term accommodation.” Mr Slaviero told Star Weekly he was talking with his lawyers and “considering all options”. “I’ve put a years’ worth of effort in this,” Mr Slaviero said. “I’m trying to do something positive for the Diggers Rest community to attract tourism … the Diggers Rest hotel will offer luxury accommodation and I was hoping to offer mid-budget accommodation.”
Singing their praises Goonawarra Primary School pupils are preparing to raise their voices in spectacular fashion. A group of 18 youngsters will sing with the mass choir at the Victorian State Schools Spectacular next month at Hisense Arena. They will be performing a set of seven choreographed songs alongside 1300 choristers. Supervising teacher Sonja Pocek said the children have been rehearsing once a week since April to get pitch perfect. “They have put in many, many hours of private rehearsal and we have also attended four full days, two of those at Melbourne town hall with a mass choir,” she said. “The State School Spectacular helps to create a school culture where we foster a love of the arts. “Children are given an opportunity to develop listening, musical, choral skills as
well as persistence. This experience boosts motivation, builds confidence and self esteem, as well as providing the amazing experience of performing in front of thousands of people.” This year’s production, With the Beat, will explore belonging and identity. Hisense Arena will be transformed into a mystical Venetian masquerade ball and steam punk fairground for the spectacular. Marathon effort for sick friend By Esther Lauaki Katie Dregers is described by her loved ones as the “life of the party”. That’s why her friends, family and wider community are throwing their support behind the Diggers Rest netballer who is fighting a rare and aggressive form of brain and spinal cancer. A brain tumour was discovered nearly a year ago after Katie fell at work. In a devastating blow earlier this month, another tumour, believed to be where the cancer originated, was found in the 25 year-old’s spine.
Her best friends Erin Surkitt, Shelby Strong, Renee Mowatt and Amy Schwegler will run the Melbourne Marathon in October to raise money for Katie’s expenses and raise awareness about the type of astrocytoma that she has. Ms Surkitt, who launched an online crowdfunding campaign that has raised more than $7000 in less than a month, said Katie was in good spirits as she undergoes treatment. “She has severe short-term memory loss and she has to relearn how to do everything from eating to walking,” she said. “There’s not a lot of awareness [of astrocytoma] so our aim is to raise awareness by telling people about Katie.
“We want people to look at us and know that we are running for her. “If she can’t walk, we’ll walk for her.” She said the women were brought together through their friendship with Katie. “Katie has always been the life of the party, with a drink in hand and a story to tell,” Ms Surkitt said. “We met through netball years ago and we’ve been inseparable since then. “She soon became a very important person to not only myself but a wide community of people’s lives.” Donate: bit.ly/2LiPUpI

Fireys take giant steps Macedon Ranges firefighters are stepping up their support for people living with mental illness. Firefighters from Gisborne, Kyneton, Lancefield, Malmsbury and Riddells Creek are joining forces for this year’s Melbourne Firefighters Stair Climb next month. They will compete against 650 firefighters to climb 28 floors of the Crown Metropol Melbourne hotel wearing full firefighting gear. Members from Kyneton CFA have already raised $1170 towards their goal of topping last year’s effort of $3000. The September 1 charity event, now in its fifth year, brings together career and volunteer firefighters from all over Australasia and the world. Organisers hope to raise $700,000 for Lifeline and the Black Dog Institute to help fight depression, post-traumatic stress
disorder and suicide. The funds raised will help improve support services, fund research, remove stigmas and raise awareness of mental health issues such as depression, PTSD and suicide, including those within the emergency and defence services. Country Fire Authority chief officer Steve Warrington said he was looking forward to taking on the challenge with his counterparts from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. “This climb is a huge physical challenge for us and everyone who takes part,” Mr Warrington said. “But it is really nothing compared with the battle that our friends, family and emergency service colleagues can face when it comes to mental health.” Donate: firefighterclimb.org.au Esther Lauaki

he Victorian Anti Bullying and Mental Health Initiative is a $7.05 million investment to put a stop to bullying in schools. The numbers reveal the need is real. In 2016, suicide was the leading cause of death for Australian children aged 5-17 years. This new program includes a $4.8 million investment in new mental health support and a dedicated suicide prevention program. It’s the equivalent of 40,000 hours of hands-on mental health support. It also brings together resources that are available across government to help schools address bullying in all forms, from physical threats to cyber bullying to verbal intimidation. It is hoped this approach will give schools the tools and resources they need to build a culture of respect and understanding, and to empower students to stand up and speak out when they see bullying.

Captains of Kilmore International School, Jacob Knight and Phoebe Nadenbousch, tell Carole Levy how they became school captains and what impact their role has had on them and their school.
Why did you want to become school more of a say. For example, we moved years 11 and 12 into a new space and I was able to have captain? Jacob: I saw it as a good way to get my point of view across and to promote the direction our school should perhaps take. We need connectivity between students and staff … being captain gives me a voice to represent my peers and their views. I’m like a link between teachers and students and, as captain, I get to present those thoughts to the principal and board. Also, I was year 11 captain and this gave me a taste of being a leader, so I was very happy to try out for school captain this year.

What are your future plans?
Phoebe: For me, it’s a chance to lead by example. I see our primary school students, so passionate, and it’s amazing how much they look up to Jacob and me. As captains, we also get to leave our mark on the school … this year, for example, we designed the year 12 jacket in conjunction with the year leaders. That was fun, as well as a “practising diplomacy exercise”.
Jacob: I will be applying for university entry into Melbourne, Monash, New York, Los Angeles and Bond universities. I will probably go to a university in Melbourne first, though. I’m leaning towards study in the commerce area because I believe it’s important to understand economics and how the world works. Or I might go in the engineering direction because I like the idea of building things and being innovative.
Is there a leader you admire?
Phoebe: I’m hoping to take a gap year next year, working/volunteering/travelling. Then I want to go to Australian National University to study international business and development. I hope to pursue a career in that field, with a particular focus on education for women. It’s the social enterprise route for me – hopefully it’s not a pipe dream. In year 10, I went to Cambodia on a mission with Cambodian Kids Foundation and it was then that I realised I could get a job like that. My mum and I went on to raise about $4000 for the foundation. Through my swimming club, I participate in the 24-hour swimathon to raise funds for Berry Street. With the many charity fundraising days at the school, I go into it wholeheartedly. We might give to the local Moira Kelly foundation or to the international Oaktree foundation – and, as captains, we get to choose where funds are directed.
Phoebe: My three older sisters went to this school, so it’s always been part of my life. I became year captain from year 7 onwards, only missing year 10, and this meant I got closer to teachers and the admin side of the school. I could see both the strengths and flaws in our school and wanted to enhance the former and address the latter. I was especially keen to see more bridges built between local and international students. We are so lucky to have students from all over and getting to know their different cultures and backgrounds is a great experience.
What is the best bit about being school captain? Jacob: It gives me a formal way into expressing my views – it’s my job to do that. I enjoy acting on behalf of my peers and also getting a bit

Jacob: I’d have to say my dad, Adam. He’s the president of the Aboriginal Art Association of Australia and I really admire the way he conducts his work. Tigers bounce back By Tara Murray Sunbury United Tigers have won through to the NFL Vic first grade division grand final. After losing their semi-final to the Werribee Bears, the Tigers bounced back against Casey Warriors on Saturday. They got the jump early and maintained the lead all day, winning 30-20. Tigers coach Terry Constantinou said they had a few nerves heading into the game, but in the end they had nothing to worry about.
“The boys did really well,” he said. “I was a little bit worried as they got a bit of a shock last week playing finals football. “[But] We scored three tries early and led 20-4 at half-time [on Saturday]. A couple of our marquee players had really great games.” The Warriors hit back in the second and reduced the margin to four points. Constantinou was thrilled with how his team was able to dig deep when challenged. “We said there would always be a momentum shift. We had to defend with passion.
“We had to reset and were able to score again.” The win sets up a grand final showdown with the Werribee Bears, at Werribee’s home ground on Saturday afternoon. Constantinou said they had learnt a lot from their previous losses to the Bears. “We didn’t just finish second by pure luck,” he said. “When we beat them we really beat them and when we’ve lost to them, we’ve just lost. “They haven’t been able to get away from us. We only need to work on a few areas.”
Sunbury Kangaroos members will vote on whether the club will stay with the Riddell District Football Netball League next season or make the move to the Essendon District Football League. The vote will occur on October 1. Kangaroos vice-president Mick Streiff said taking the decision to a vote was the best way moving forward with mixed views within the senior club. “There are some issues for and against it [the move], so in the end we decided to go to a vote,” Streiff told Star Weekly. “We require 75 per cent approval to make the move. Members will be sent correspondence about the vote. ” Streiff said one of the main issues for the club at present was netball, with the club unable to field the four sides required in the RDFNL. “We only had two teams and we’re struggling to field full sides at times,” he said. The Kangaroos women’s football team moved to the EDFL at the end of last season. Streiff said the club had met with the league to discuss the possible move. “Our women’s side is competing in that competition and they are looking for a couple more clubs [in the men’s]. “They [EDFL] said they will look at our application if we are to put one in.” For the full story, go to www. starweekly.com.au/sports. Macedon continues undefeated run into finals

Macedon got the monkey off its back with a convincing win against Rupertswood in the Riddell District Netball League qualifying final on Saturday. Heading into finals undefeated, in the exact same position they found themselves 12 months ago, the Cats were keen to make amends for their first round knockout last year. There would be no disappointment this time around, with the Cats winning 50-33. Cats coach Ciara Stewart said they mentioned last year’s finals defeat once in the lead-up to Saturday’s game and then focused on what had to be done. “We said before we started that we weren’t victims,” she said. “Let’s win one quarter and then two … “Besides mentioning it that one time, that was it. Our B-grade had won and we were on a high from that.” The Cats scored an early win with Victorian Netball League finals results going their way,
meaning both Chloe Wilson and Janelle Birch were available to play. Clare Johnson was unavailable for Rupertswood. The Sharks were also missing Prue Stanley and coach Di McCormack was away for work commitments. On court, the Cats always looked likely to win. However, Stewart said they didn’t have the best day. “We were solid, but the goalers didn’t finish it off,” she said. “Ty [Coppinger] shut down Ailish straight away and it shut them down offensively. “They had to take off players they haven’t had to take off all year.” The Cats ball movement into the circle and defensive pressure were their strengths. Three defenders, Katie Clarke, Janelle Birch and Coppinger were named the Cats best. “We had so many options,” Stewart said of defence. “Ty and Janelle on that line are so solid,
Bombers take charge By Tara Murray Riddell is a step closer to a grand final after a strong win against Rupertswood in the Riddell District Football League qualifying final. While the Sharks finished on top, it was the Bombers that entered the game as favourites. Having built up a rivalry in recent years, there is no love lost between the two sides and there was no surprise the first half was a tough contest. But the Bombers stepped up after the main break. They took a while to hit the scoreboard, but once they did, they kicked seven goals to two, to win 15.7 (97)-9.5 (59). Bombers coach Jamie Elliott said they out-muscled the Sharks late in the game to take control. “I thought it was a pretty good contest for three quarters,” he said. “I thought we were really good and really hard. We are a pretty good group when hunting the footy and hunting the man. “The mental toughness was really good.” Elliott said they had expected the Sharks to come out hard and it was about trying to maintain composure and discipline. “I thought we coughed the footy up a bit early on and we weren’t great with our discipline. “I gave them a bit of a cook at half-time about that [discipline]. “They came out and became men. You could see them grow up before your eyes. “We cleaned the footy up going forward. To get an effort like that and the boys’ ability, your always a chance to win the game.” Elliott said the back line stood up strongly. He said Scott Walsh was best on ground while Tom Cassidy, in his first seniors finals game, and the Sahlberg boys, Paul and Michael [three goals], were also good. Dylan Tarczon also kicked three goals for the Bombers. Dean Putt and Brett Chambers both played their first senior game back in a number of weeks. Chambers left the ground limping in the third quarter, before returning to the ground in the last quarter, but only played deep forward. For the Sharks, Nick Grigg kicked three goals and Brent Swallow kicked two. Swallow and Kayne Murphy were named their best. Elliott said Matthew Panuccio, who missed the win, is a chance to return this week. The Bombers will play Diggers Rest for a spot in the grand final on Saturday at Clarke Oval. Diggers Rest had no issue accounting for Romsey with their best four quarter performance of the season in an elimination

The Redbacks easily accounted for an undermanned Riddell line-up at the weekend. The Bombers were missing four players from their starting line-up and it showed, with Redbacks winning 60-25. Jets’ title hopes one step closer By Tara Murray Sunbury Jets’ quest for a third straight title is on track after they took game one of the Big V women’s state championship grand final series. It was the ideal start for the Jets, picking up the win on the road against Southern Peninsula Sharks. The Jets set up victory in the first half, leading by 21 points at the main break. They increased that in the second half, going on to win 85-50. Jets’ coach Kennedy Kereama said they will be quickly back to business, with another victory required to win the title. “It was a really pleasing result,” he said of the weekend match. “As much as the good game it was, we have to make sure we don’t get caught up in it. “Next week is a different story and they [Southern Peninsula] are a good team that will do their homework. “It will be a lot closer this weekend.” Kereama said the Jets’ defence was key to the weekend win. They kept the normally high-scoring Sharks to just 50 points for the game and 13 points or less in a quarter. “Our defensive scout was really key to the game. The coaching staff did a really good job and did their homework,” Kereama said. “It was executed well by the team.” The Jets restricted young Sharks star Jazmin Shelley to just five points – she normally averages about 19 points a game. Kereama said Kerryn Harrington did the job
on Shelley for most of the night. Harrington performed at both ends of the court, as she top-scored for the Jets with 19 points. Kereama said Harrington did a heck of a job. All five starters scored double figures for the Jets. The size of the win also allowed Kereama to give his bench some good minutes “I was really happy with the contribution from everyone. Getting finals experience is really important,” he said. The Jets find themselves in a familiar situation. For a third straight year, they head into game two of a grand final series 1-0. Both game two and if needed game three, will be held at Sunbury. Kereama isn’t expecting an easy run. “It is nice to play in front of your home crowd when you’re playing for a championship,” he said. “Hopefully they will help us achieve what we set out to achieve this season. “Hopefully we can bring home another one for the club.” If the women’s side wins, it will be a second title for the Jets this season. The division 1 youth league women’s side claimed the championship on Saturday night, defeating Keilor Thunder 68-45.
