A big day for Dadda’s boy

Mount Macedon’s Paul Hill is looking forward to Fathers Day with his 19-month-old son Charlie. It seems Mr Hill got his Father’s Day present a little early. “He’s just started talking,” Mr Hill said. “‘Dadda’ was his first word, actually.” The young father is loving fatherhood, particularly the nappy changing – or so he jokes. Like many dads, Mr Hill is looking forward to a quiet day and a meal with his family on Sunday. Father’s Day is traditionally a day to indulge dad’s favourite past-time or simply spend time with him. In Macedon Ranges, there’s plenty of events to share with all sorts of dads. Carlsruhe CFA’s Wine and Food Festival will offer art, music, food, wine, beer, craft stalls and children’s activities. Nearby, the Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival will be in full swing with a wide range of activities. Or just take the chance to enjoy the first weekend of spring in the beautiful region. Macedon takes a stand By Serena Seyfort Macedon Ranges council is determined to protect the shire’s character “from inappropriate development”. The council is calling on the state government to come up with a new set of planning guidelines specifically for non-metropolitan areas. At a meeting last week, Cr Helen Radnedge said the specific guidelines were necessary “to protect the cultural heritage and built form character” of areas such as the Macedon Ranges. The council will ask Planning Minister Richard Wynne to look at its request for changes and to grant an interim two-storey height limit
for new buildings approved in the shire in the next two years. Under changes to the Victoria Planning Provisions introduced in March, residential buildings in general residential zones can be up to three-storeys and 11 metres high. Previously they were restricted to two-storeys and nine metres. Cr Radnedge said the changes were “resulting in homogenous housing types better suited to metropolitan growth areas” and failed “to account for rural styles, character and circumstances”. Mayor Jennifer Anderson agreed the new state planning guidelines did not take into
account the differences between the Macedon Ranges and Melbourne. “They don’t get that we’re different to Melbourne,” Cr Anderson said. “Rural living is different to metro. “We are going to VCAT [Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal] more and more often with our community and councillors having a different interpretation of neighbourhood character.” The council last month rejected for a second time plans for what would have been the first apartment building in Gisborne. The council denied the permit, against the recommendation of council officers. The
applicant had taken the case to VCAT and been referred back to the council. At the time, Cr Radnedge said apartments were “out of character for the whole region”. The council’s move to request a new set of planning controls for rural areas was widely supported. But Cr Henry Bleeck spoke against the motion, saying the community needed to keep moving forward. “Diversity is what we need – it actually makes the shire,” he said. “It’s important we go down that track rather than stopping everything.” The motion was passed 7-2.

Plea to save historic cottage By Serena Seyfort Romsey and Lancefield Districts Historical Society is pleading for help to save a piece of history. Romsey’s 19th century Seymour Cottage needs significant restoration work and has been closed to the public for safety reasons. The gold rush-era building, which is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, is suffering from extensive termite damage that could lead to potential structural failures. Romsey and Lancefield Districts Historical Society president Noreen Yorke said the society needed help to restore and maintain the cottage.
“It’s at a critical stage – if steps aren’t taken to preserve it, it will be lost to the community,” Ms Yorke said. She said the limited funds generated by society members were unable to cover the building’s restoration and operational costs. “We’re looking to community support,” Ms Yorke said “The cottage was left to the whole community.” Ms Yorke said the cottage was left to the people of Romsey in the 1980s, and since the trustees had passed away, the society had been given responsibility for the building. The society plans to apply for grants from Heritage Victoria, but is also calling for local support.
“In the long term there’s quite a lot that needs to be done,” Ms Yorke said. The Victorian Heritage Register deems Seymour Cottage as architecturally and historically significant to the state. It says it is an example of a simple gold rush-era cottage and demonstrates “the proliferation of prefabricated buildings and materials imported to meet the demand for accommodation in the rapidly expanding colony of gold rush era Victoria”. Blooming good fun in Kyneton The Kyneton community is in a very festive mood. The town’s annual Daffodil and Arts Festival will start on Thursday, August 31 and run until September 10. The festival will feature one-act plays, ferret racing, buskers, food and wine, live performances and literary events. To celebrate spring’s arrival, the 124-year-old Kyneton Horticultural Society will host its annual spring flower show. Society president Nicholas Scott said the show was one of the longest standing and largest flower shows in regional Victoria. He said this year’s show will be one to remember. “We’ve got a really good committee putting it together,” Mr Scott said. The 2017 Kyneton Spring Flower Show will run on Saturday, September 2, from 1-5pm, and on Sunday, September 3, from 10am-4.30pm, in Watts Pavilion at Kyneton showgrounds on Mollison Street. The show will feature daffodils, cut flowers and shrubs, pot plants, cacti, succulents, floral art and a children’s creative section. LGBTIQ+ wins survey support from council With the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey on the horizon, Macedon Ranges council is showing support for the LGBTIQ+ community. Councillor Natasha Gayfer moved that council “promote the position taken by the Macedon Ranges Local Safety Committee in supporting marriage equality”. She also moved at the council meeting on August 23 that the council fly the rainbow flag at Kyneton and Gisborne council centres during the survey period and help promote the local LGBTIQ+ group Open Houses Macedon Ranges. “This motion is not about telling our residents how to fill out their postal survey,” Cr Gayfer told the council. “The motion is purely about supporting a community who are struggling during marriage equality discussions. “We have a responsibility to show leadership on an issue that is damaging community cohesion.” Mayor Jennifer Anderson agreed the council was in a position to make people feel included. “It is up to people to vote the way they want to vote, but it is up to us as council to ensure that all our residents, and anyone who visits our shire, feels safe and included,” she said. Cr Henry Bleeck spoke against the motion, saying he didn’t think it was council business. Seven councillors voted to support the motion, while Cr Bleeck voted against. Cr Roger Jukes was absent.

Water plant tapped for revamp By Serena Seyfort

The first stage of a $53 million upgrade to Sunbury Recycled Water Plant has been completed. The project is part of a major expansion of Sunbury and Diggers Rest water infrastructure. Filtration, odour control systems and the site’s power supply are some of the elements addressed in stage one. Sunbury MP Josh Bull visited the site to see the plant’s progress earlier this month. “It’s great to see that the upgrade is progressing well,” Mr Bull said. When works have been completed, the plant – at the southern end of Harker Street, Sunbury – will be able to treat 9.2 million litres a day, up from the 5.9 million it could treat previously. As Sunbury and Diggers Rest are some of the highest-growth areas in Victoria, Sunbury Recycled Water Plant was nearing its capacity at the start of 2016 when the state government announced the project. Despite the significant increase in treatment capacity, the state government says the upgrades will be contained within the area of the existing treatment plant. Additional improvements to the treatment process will mean the upgraded plant will produce higher quality recycled water with more uses, such as watering resident gardens. Recycled water produced at the Western Water plant is presently used for irrigating crops and maintaining sports grounds. A total of more than 50 jobs are expected to have been created during construction, which is expected to be finished by late next year. Stage two of the project will involve refurbishing parts of the old plant.
Salesian College student Amelia Cini is hoping to make an impact when she takes to the court at the Pacific School Games in December. Amelia is one of 12 players recently chosen to be part of the Team Vic 12 years and under netball side at the games, which will be held in Adelaide from December 2-8. She will be joined by St Albans and Caroline Springs Netball Association teammate Maison Day. The girls will be competing against teams from 15 other countries at the games. Team Vic netball state team project officer Jeanetta Rodwell said Amelia and Maison were chosen for the squad following great performances in the trials with Schools Sports Victoria, which began in March. Ms Rodwell said the team comprised students from across Victoria. The last few weeks of winter have not disappointed, with chilly weather delivering snowfall on several days. Macedon Ranges residents woke to a winter wonderland on Sunday as snow settled across Mount Macedon and out to Romsey and Gisborne. Mount Macedon, Trentham, Bullarto and areas of Wombat State Forest were also
blanketed by a layer of snow on Monday, August 21. Many locals braved the cold conditions to venture outside and enjoy the snowfall, many of them flocking to the top of Mount Macedon. The Macedon Ranges also experienced snow earlier in the month on August 17, 18 and 19. Serena Seyfort

Bald Hill ban to hit bikes, horses By Serena Seyfort Trail bikers and horse riders will be physically blocked from accessing Kyneton’s Bald Hill Reserve after trespassing has led to repeated damage at the reserve. In coming weeks, bollards and fencing will be installed at the reserve by the council to restrict access to walkers and management vehicles. Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Anderson said signs stating trail bikes and horses were
banned, which had been at the reserve since early 2016, were not working. “Unfortunately, these have been ignored, resulting in repeated damage to the reserve,” she said. The reserve is considered ecologically, geologically and culturally significant and is home to threatened species, including the brush-tailed phascogale, powerful owl, brown toadlet and tussock skink. The endangered matted flax-lily and vulnerable clover glycine also grow in the reserve.

Cr Anderson said trail bikes and horse riding had damaged habitats and spread weeds. She said they also had a negative impact on what the council envisioned for the reserve in its environmental management plan. “Species such as the brown toadlet and
tussock skink are particularly vulnerable to being impacted by these activities as they live in small cracks and burrows.” Cr Anderson said there were many other locations in the region where riders could take their horses or trail bikes without damaging an important conservation area. Trail bike riding and horse riding are allowed in Cobaw State Forest and Wombat State Forest. Trail bike riding is also permitted in Macedon Regional Park.

Macedon Ranges community orchestra’s September performance will reflect all ages of the Woodend community. Woodend Primary School pupils have been eagerly rehearsing with the Resonance String Orchestra for the performance, which has been inspired by the orchestra’s ongoing relationship with the residents of Woodend Aged Care. The orchestra members have spent time interviewing the elderly residents and listening to stories about the film and music in their lives. Orchestra co-director Heather Cummins said the inter-generational dialogue between the children, adult musicians and the residents deepened their understanding of how music enriches lives. “One of the biggest things that came out of the interviews was how important music was in a social setting and for bringing people together,” Ms Cummins said. MY PLACE A few years back, Peter Johnson left suburban life and his job as a banker to retire in Kyneton with his wife. Since then, the 62-year-old has endeavoured to be a valuable contributor to the community. He chats with Serena Seyfort. What’s your connection to Kyneton?
What do you like about the area?
I moved into the Macedon Ranges from Watsonia North in 2013. My wife, Linda and I had decided to retire and look for a better, healthier life and we built a new home up in Kyneton and never looked back. It was a natural fit for us. I’ve been coming up to Kyneton for most of my life for recreational purposes. I used to come up here fishing with my dad when I was a kid.
The people are very friendly up here. They make you feel very welcome – and that’s a lot different from when you live in the suburbs, that’s for sure. I like the open spaces, which allow for a healthier lifestyle. It’s a great place to bring kids up and it’s a great place to spend your later years.
I’m the new president of Kyneton U3A and I’ve been on the committee for the last two years. I see U3A as a great opportunity to get involved with the community and help and assist older Australians. I’m also the secretary and treasurer of the Campaspe River and Land Management Group in Kyneton. We work closely with Kyneton Secondary College. We’ve done three of four planting days with those guys. It means that they get out and get to see the healthy environment and plant trees and see something for what they do for years to come. We have local planting days, as well, on key dates. We’ve got one coming up on Father’s Day in Kyneton. I’m a member of the Kyneton Town Square Reference Group. As the president of U3A, I will be ensuring that our voice is heard within the planning for the new community hub at the Kyneton Primary School site. I want to ensure that the best possible use is made within that hub, and I’ll lobby as long and hard as we need.
Do you have a favourite place locally? I enjoy the lakes up here. The reservoirs are really good for fishing and recreation. There’s some great restaurants in Kyneton. I enjoy the Wedge Street Food And Wine – that’s a lovely place. If you could change anything about the area, what would it be? If I wanted a change I think we’ve just got to control the urban sprawl. Some of the development that’s anticipated for Kyneton over the next few years is reasonably middle to high-density in some parts of town. I can’t control that, but I’d certainly love to – to make sure the block sizes remain reasonably high and affordable. You’re certainly making your mark in a short period of time. It’s important to get involved in the community, and to make sure that you help the community to the best possible outcomes for whatever’s required.

SPORT Youth league wraps up title in a tough game two Saturday night was celebration time for the Sunbury Jets’ youth league women, as they claimed the Big V youth league division 2 championship. Having claimed game one easily against Blackburn Vikings, the Jets were hoping to wrap up the series in game two on Saturday night at Boardman Stadium. But the Vikings made sure the Jets didn’t have it all their own way, with the match going down to the dying minutes. The Jets held on to seal the club’s first youth women’s league championship title with a 52-48 win. Jets coach Andrew Seidel said he was thrilled for the girls, who started slowly before dominating the second and third quarters. Then the Vikings hit back late. “They threw everything at us but the kitchen sink,” Seidel said. “There was a few nerves early on, as we were in the same situation a couple of weeks ago. We settled in the second quarter and were back
level at half-time. We were reinforcing to the girls they were even despite not playing well. We were resilient enough to hold them off.” Seidel said there had been more nerves very late in the game, with the Vikings reducing the margin to two points with 21 seconds to go. “They were really coming hard at us,” he said. “We had to keep playing the right players. All the girls were happy that we got the result.” Chloe Angove, who shared a slow start with her teammates, top scored with 21 points. She was named most valuable grand final player, averaging 17 points across the two games. The championship will push the Jets’ credentials to be promoted to youth league division 1 next season. That decision is in the hands of the league. Seidel said it was something that needed to happen for the development of the club. “We had to win a championship,” he said. “Hopefully, it entices other players to come
play for us. It’s hard when you’re in the bottom division to attract players. “A lot of young girls are playing elsewhere. We want to get those girls back to Sunbury.” Seidel said he wanted to continue coaching the side next season. In his three seasons of coach, the Jets have won a premiership and played in a grand final and a preliminary final. Jets coaching director Kennedy Kereama said he was very proud of the youth girls side. “The players have the chance to be promoted to division 1 and that’s what we wanted,” he said. Tara Murray

Tigers reign in the rain By Tara Murray Lancefield overcame Diggers Rest and the weather to seal a Riddell District Netball League semi-final spot. The Tigers, who entered the match the higher ranked of the two teams, jumped out of the blocks in conditions that left even the keenest netballers running for cover. There was hail and constant rain, while earlier games had been halted due to snow at Romsey Park. A seven-goal first quarter-lead for the Tigers was decisive, with the Burras outscoring the Tigers by one goal over the next three quarters. The Tigers won 38-32. Tigers coach Alan Watson said the six-goal win was like a 12-goal win in dry conditions. “It was really tough,” he said. “It was blowing a gale at one stage and there was pools of water all over the court. Tee [Tahnysha Salanoa] was missing shots right under the ring that she would normally never miss.” Watson said it was at the defensive end where the game was a step up for his side. “We controlled the game and our defence was outstanding,” he said. “Olivia Pels and Anica Scherer repelled so many goals and dominated the game. We were so disciplined across the court.” Salanoa and Courtney Annett finished with 19 goals apiece for the Tigers. For the Burras, playing coach Amy Carroll was the best of the shooters with 23 goals. The win gives the Tigers a shot at Romsey for a grand final berth, while the Burras have been knocked out. Both the Tigers and Redbacks have double chances, with the winner to go through to the grand final and the loser to the preliminary final. If past results are anything to go by, it should be a thriller. The past three games between the two sides have been decided by a total of four goals. “We got ourselves into a positive position and I think we deserve it,” Watson said. “Romsey will be red hot favourites. We’ve got nothing to lose and will treat it like any other match.” Macedon will face Melton Centrals in the elimination semi-final. The Tigers B-grade side had a 38-34 win against Romsey and will face Riddell in an elimination semi-final. The C-grade side is out of the finals, losing to Macedon 33-20.
Jets head home a win up in finals series Sunbury Jets have the upper hand after game one of the Big V women’s state championship grand final basketball series. The Jets trailed by as much as 18 points in the first half and by 13 points at the main break against Bulleen Boomers. But once the Jets started to find their shots in the second half, the game started to turn in their favour. Coupled with a strong defensive effort, the Jets hit the lead in the final quarter, holding on for a 71-65 win. Jets coach Kennedy Kereama said that despite trailing by double figures in the first half, his side wasn’t playing badly. “To be honest, it was a case of we were getting the right looks, but sometimes shots don’t drop,” he said. “We were missing shots we would consider easy shots. The process was right and once the shots started falling, we got going.” The Jets showed their defensive strength in the final quarter by restricting the Boomers to just seven points. Boomers star Lauren Pearce scored just four points, all of which came at the free-throw line. “We had some really good defensive efforts,” Kereama said. “To keep Lauren to four points is a credit to our defence. Chelsea [Burns] and Courtney [Duever] had the match up for most of the game. “If one or two players are down, someone will step up. Tara Blair and Sarah Boothe both stepped up.” Duever top scored with 25 points, while Orla O’Reilly scored 18 and Josie Stockill had 16. The Jets head home for game two on Saturday night and, if needed, game three on Sunday. Kereama said they weren’t getting ahead of themselves. “Winning game one is a big deal,” he said. “We’d love to wrap it up in two games. “We’ll stick with the winning formula we’ve had all season. We’ll take confidence into the weekend.”

Burras win a chilly fight By Tara Murray Diggers Rest handed Sunbury Kangaroos a footballing lesson and made other teams take notice in their Riddell District Football League elimination final. In rain, wind and hail, it was all the Burras for the first three quarters, with the Kangaroos goal-less at three-quarter time and the game well and truly over. The Kangaroos kicked six last-quarter goals, but it was too late, the Burras winning 10.4 (64)-6.6 (42). Burras coach Shaun Sims said that with the conditions, including snow earlier in the day, they didn’t know what to expect. “Everything comes back to basics in that sort of weather,” he said. “It was about gaining territory and winning the stoppages … we were able to do that and it was credit to our midfielders and wingers. “We managed to get the match-ups right for the first three quarters. We played a good brand of footy in those conditions.” Sims said letting the Kangaroos get some respectability on the scoreboard was disappointing, but it didn’t take anything away from his players’ first three quarters. “We took our foot off the pedal a bit,” he said, “We rested a few, as well. Both our seniors and reserves got through, which was the aim for the day.” Sims said Michael Evans and Corey Wright were clearly best on ground. “Wright, 18, started in the middle of the ground and didn’t look out of place. “The amount of ball they got was fantastic,” Sims said. “We were staying at the start of the game, having Corey as our starting centre was a positive thing. “We’ve got six or seven players from our reserves premiership that played in our senior team this week.” The Burras will face Macedon in a semi-final for a place in the grand final. Both sides have a double chance. Sims said Stephen Ruane and Lachlan Langford would come back into the side. Chris Lawton will also be a chance to return. The Cats will enter the match after running over the top of Rupertswood on Saturday. The Burras and Cats faced each other in the final round of the season, with the Burras kept to their lowest score in years. But Sims said they would take little out of that match. “They are the benchmark this season,” he said. “We’ll take things from that match, but it’ll be on a different ground and possibly different conditions. “They set up very well when they get it into the forward half. “We don’t fear anyone and we’re out there to win it.” Riddell will play Rupertswood in the other semi-final after accounting for Romsey. The Burras reserves side will play Rupertswood for a spot in the grand final.
Redbacks joy after smashing final quarter Romsey saved its best for last in the Riddell District Netball League qualifying final to claim victory against Macedon on Saturday. For much of the first half, the Redbacks didn’t look anything like the side that had lost just a single game for the season and looked like they were struggling to get their game plan working. The Cats, who also had only one loss for the year, played like a team hellbent on victory despite missing goal attack Chloe Wilson with illness. They played with patience to hold an eight-goal lead in the second quarter. Redbacks coach Lena Way made changes to her attacking end, with Amelia Brock replacing Hope Evans as goal shooter at quarter-time. Bronwyn Blair came on at goal attack midway through the second quarter, replacing Chelsea Ross. That proved to be the match-winning move, with the Redbacks reducing the margin to six at the main break and to one at three-quarter time, after having briefly taken the lead. The final quarter outcome was one no one saw coming. The Redbacks won it 20-1 to seal a 45-27 win. Redbacks coach Lena Way said the last quarter was unbelievable. “It’s a credit to the team’s defensive ability,” she said. “The number of times we were able to turn the ball over was incredible.” While the stunning fourth-quarter nailed the win for the Redbacks, Way knows they still have plenty to work on after their worst first half of the season. She said they had been thrown by Wilson not playing and the reshuffle in the Cats’ attacking end. Way said the ability to change line-ups when needed was a the key to the win. “We ended up with a completely different goaling combination than what we’ve had all season,” she said. “It goes to show that in finals anything can happen and anyone can get on the board,” she said. Brock finished with 30 goals from 34 attempts, while Blair shot eight goals from 11 attempts. Sarah Szczykulski worked hard and shut out Macedon goaler Tara Burnip in the second half. For the Cats, Chelsea Kemp was a standout. The Redbacks will play Lancefield in a semi-final, while the Cats play Melton Centrals in an elimination semi-final. Tara Murray

Macedon digs deep to turn qualifying final around Macedon overcame its worst first half of the season to storm home and win its qualifying final against Rupertswood on Saturday. With both sides having little finals success in the Riddell District Football League in recent years it was the Sharks who got off to a flier, kicking five of the first six goals to lead by 20 points at half-time. Such was the Sharks dominance they could have quite easily led by a lot more at the main break. It was a different second half as the Cats lifted the intensity. The Sharks did everything they could to hold them off. A dribbling goal on three-quarter time to the Cats’ Alastair Collins reduced the margin to seven points at the last break.

From there the Cats ran over the top of the Sharks, kicking the only three goals of the final to win 10.15 (75)-9.6 (60). While much had been made about the Cats’ poor finals record in recent years, coach Jeff Andrews said it hadn’t been mentioned around the club. He said while his side was shambolic in the first half, a lot of that was caused by the Sharks. “I honestly think it’s the worst we’ve played all year in the first half,” he said.

“I’d like to give credit to them as it was because of their pressure but we weren’t happy, but turned it around in the second half. “They were considerably the better team, their pressure was great their ball movement was great, everything was troubling us.” At half-time Andrews put it on the players to step up and respond and it was the leaders who took the initiative. Shaun Harrison, Casey Summerfield and Daniel Markworth started to win the ball and find space. League leading goalkicker Jason Cooke started the second half in the midfield to get into the game. “There’s no doubt we’ve got some great players, but all year we’ve tried to build pressure and they won that part in the first
half,” Andrews said. “We wanted to address that, which we did. Individuals and the team weren’t playing well and it had a fair bit to do with Rupo’s pressure, but we are a pretty proud group and they all stood up.” The Cats now face Diggers Rest for a spot in the grand final. Andrews said they had a full list to choose from. For the Sharks, who now face Riddell in an elimination semi-final, they will be sweating on the fitness of several players. Among those players is Dean Putt, who played the second half of the game with a hamstring injury, and Todd Podolczak, who broke his nose in the last quarter. Tara Murray

Game lost in extra time By Tara Murray Rupertswood is out of the Riddell District Netball League finals after a heartbreaking defeat in double overtime against Melton Centrals. In terrible conditions which included rain and hail, the match was always going to come down to which side handled the conditions better. Sharks’ coach Di McCormack said the game was played to a good standard considering the weather. Centrals looked the better of the teams early, before the Sharks fought back and the two sides went goal for goal. At the end of regular time scores were locked at 42 apiece. After overtime finished scores were still locked and play continued until one team led by two goals. The Sharks were the first to miss and Centrals converted. It was the goal Centrals needed to get the two-goal lead, winning 54-52. McCormack said it was a disappointing way to exit the season. “It see-sawed all day,” she said. “We lacked the maturity to slow things down and ice the game. We had Bec [Anstey] and Prue [Stanley], but everyone else is 21 or under. “We’re an inexperienced side. I think if we had one more experienced player it would have made the difference.” McCormack said Amy Starzer played well in goals, while 16-year-old Holly Keating, who was returning from injury, did well against the Centrals’ more experienced goalers. McCormack said she was pleased with how her side played this season and the young players had improved in a tough draw. While the A-grade side is out, the Sharks three other sides are all playing for a grand final spot this weekend.

Riddell blew Romsey out of the water early to set up a Riddell District Football League elimination final win on Sunday. The Bombers kicked seven first-quarter goals with the wind to open up a 43-point lead by quarter-time. The lead was a handy one, with the Bombers restricting the Redbacks to three goals for the game. The Bombers won 14.5 (89)-3.3 (21). Bombers coach Jamie Elliott said the strong first quarter took the pressure off the side, which included several players playing their first senior final. “We thought it was a three- to four-goal wind and we kicked seven goals,” he said. “I think it was the second quarter when we out-scored them against the breeze that set up the win. “The game was done and dusted at that point. There was a bit of scrappy football in the second half.” Elliott said the win was a real team effort, with the seniors showing the way for some of the less experienced players. He said Daniel Sahlberg down back was brilliant on a day when the Bombers had quite a few winners. The Bombers will face Rupertswood in an elimination final this Sunday. The Bombers past two losses have come against the Sharks. “We’ve got a bit of form at the right time,” Elliott said. “We’ve got to keep the pressure up all day.
