A day out in the sticks Members from the Combined Probus Club of Belmont Central enjoyed visiting the “Stick Shed” - Marmalake/Murtoa Grain Store was built in 1941–42 during World War II to store wheat during export restrictions, constructed from 560 timber poles supporting a vast corrugated iron shed measuring about 270 metres long, 60 metres wide and 19 metres high, and is now listed as No. 101 on the Australian Heritage List as a remarkable national icon known for its immense, cathedral-like space and unique atmosphere.
