Christmas cheer continues throughout pages 17–23, where you’ll find festive stories, local gift ideas and a spotlight on much-loved features like PAM’s iconic Christmas display.
We also shine a light on celebrations in Mount Morgan and beautiful offerings from Reid and Rose, helping you discover thoughtful ways to share the spirit of the season.

FESTIVE spirit is set to shine across Central Queensland as two much-loved Christmas traditions return, Rockhampton’s Carols by Candlelight and the Gladstone Mayor’s Carols.
Rockhampton’s Carols by Candlelight, led this year by Cr Drew Wickerson has been a cherished community event for more than three decades.
The 2025 Rockhampton concerts will be held across two nights on Friday, 12 December and Saturday, 13 December, commencing at 7pm at the Pilbeam Theatre.
Cr Wickerson said the long-running tradition continues to hold a special place in the hearts of locals, bringing families, friends and neighbours together to unwind at the end of a busy year.
“It’s the sense of community,” he said.
“Even though we all seem to get busier every year, it’s nice to take time out with our families and celebrate Christmas at Carols by Candlelight.”
This year’s event will once again feature the talents of local volunteers, singers, dancers and musicians who help bring the magic of the season to life.
Creative director Patric Lilleboe is working with both new performers and returning favourites to deliver a refreshed show, blending modern

hits with traditional carols for audiences to sing along to.
To ensure the event remains accessible, the council has set ticket prices at $5 for adults and $2 for children and concessions, with proceeds supporting a soon-to-be-announced local charity.
Cr Wickerson encouraged families to book early due to limited seating at the Pilbeam Theatre.
Meanwhile, in Gladstone, excitement is building ahead of the 2025 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Carols, proudly supported by 4CC and returning to the GPC Marina Parklands on Friday, 5 December.
The community can look forward to performances by Jaymon Bob from Australian Idol and Olivia Coe from The Voice Australia, alongside local school groups and special guest artists.
A Christmas marketplace, livestreamed carols and free children’s activities will add to the festive buzz.
Both events promise family-friendly entertainment and a joyful start to the holiday season, showcasing local talent and the strong community spirit that defines Central Queensland celebrations.
THE first Capricorn Coast Carols by the Beach was staged in 2003.
From humble beginnings with a limited budget, the event grew in popularity and earned a reputation as one of the most well-organised and loved Christmas events in Central Queensland.
Twenty-two years later, the event now has ‘tradition status’ and is still going strong and drawing crowds of up to 3000 plus.
Capricorn Coast Community Events Association chairman Bill Ludwig said the organising committee has plans well in place and is gearing up to make sure this year’s JRT Carols by the Beach will be another fantastic event and community celebration.
“For anybody who has not experienced a Capricorn Coast Carols by the Beach, they will be in for a real treat as the community vibe and enthusiasm for the event is something incredibly special,” Mr Ludwig said.
“With a spectacular backdrop of Keppel and islands, combined with the fabulous stage performances from our local performers who all donate their extraordinary talents for free, the event ensures the Capricorn Coast ‘spirit of Christmas’ is shining brighter than ever.
“All people have to do is bring their pillows and blankets to sit on and enjoy a fabulous evening filled with fun and entertainment for the entire

family.”
The beachfront activities will get underway from 3pm with Christmas markets and food court operating along with rides and amusements for all ages.
A major early ‘crowd pleaser’ will be the colourful Lex Semple Memorial Santa Run Street Parade at 5.30pm.
The parade will travel from Yeppoon Town Hall down to Anzac Parade and finish at Keppel Bay Sailing Club.
Organised by Julie Tickner and family members, the parade honours and commemorates Mr Lex Semple.
For many years, Lex, who was a member of the Yeppoon Fire Brigade, did an annual ‘Santa Run’ along the Capricorn Coast.
With sleigh, reindeer and family helpers, he would ‘ho! Ho! Ho!’ spreading Christmas joy to the delight of residents, especially the children.
This year’s stage entertainment will get underway from 6pm and feature
performances by Angie’s Music Group, Garyth Walpole, Madoc Schlenker, Janelle’s Dance Academy, Dolphin Line Dancers and the multi-awardwinning Aussie Cheer and Dance.
Rhonda Janes and Friends will also delight and thrill those attending with their ‘Traditional Carols Showcase’ performance.
Rhonda’s lineup, as always, includes the best of the best vocal and theatre performers in Central Queensland.
Of course, our special guest will once again be Santa.
Taking to the stage at around 8.15pm with his Aussie Cheer and Dance helpers, he will give everyone a big Merry Christmas, joining the fun with the countdown for an amazing fireworks finale.
Mr Ludwig said community events like Carols by the Beach would not be possible without the dedicated efforts of the Capricorn Coast Community Events Association organising committee, along with Yeppoon SES volunteers and Queensland Police Service, who provide exceptional back-up support and assistance.
Special thanks must also go to the generous event sponsors and media partners who this year include the JRT Group, Livingstone Shire Council, Keppel Bay Sailing Club, Depco Drilling, Rosco’s Pizza, Channel 7 News, Triple MMM, Hit FM and CQ Today.
WHAT began as a dream more than a decade ago has grown into one of Central Queensland’s most trusted names in vehicle care.
For the Johnson family, the journey has been less about business and more about building confidence, community, and connection through every kilometre travelled.
Back in 2015, Johnson’s Mobile Mechanical was born with a simple mission: to provide reliable, on-the-go mechanical services for the people of Rockhampton and the surrounding regions.
The idea was straightforward but powerful: meet people where they are, keep them moving, and deliver service with honesty and care.
Word spread quickly. Locals appreciated the convenience, but more importantly, they valued the trust.
As demand grew, so did the opportunity to expand.
In late 2016, the Johnson family took a bold step, acquiring The 4WD Repair Shop, an established local business already known for its strong reputation with 4WDs.
On 1 February 2017, it officially became part of the Johnson’s family and was proudly rebranded as Johnson’s 4WD Repair Shop.
Today, Johnson’s 4WD stands as a hub for servicing, repairs, accessory fitting, performance improvements such as ECU remapping, and community contribution.
Every vehicle that rolls through the doors is treated with care, precision, and pride.
Customers know they can expect attention to detail and consistently high-quality workmanship, whether it’s a routine service or a complex repair.
The team goes the extra mile because they understand that behind every vehicle is a family, a business, or an adventure waiting to unfold.
What sets Johnson’s 4WD apart is the way tradition and innovation meet under one roof.
Old-school mechanical know-how is paired with cutting-edge technology, ensuring every job is done right the first time.
It’s this fusion that keeps the community rolling with confidence.
But the story isn’t just about vehicles.
At its heart, Johnson’s 4WD is a family-owned business that champions the development of its people.
Structured training programs give employees the chance to build technical expertise, confidence, and career pathways.
By aligning with national standards, the team ensures staff gain formal qualifications and Statements of Attainment.
For customers, that means peace of mind knowing their vehicle is in the hands of professionals.
For employees, it means growth, opportunity, and pride in their craft.
This commitment to people reflects the Johnson family’s broader vision: to create a business that is sustainable, energising, and deeply connected to the community it serves.

Over the years, Johnson’s 4WD has become more than a repair shop.
It’s a place where locals feel supported, where beginners are welcomed into the world of 4WDing without intimidation, and where every customer leaves with more confidence than they arrived.
Eleven years on, the dream that sparked Johnson’s Mobile Mechanical has morphed into a reality that continues to evolve.
While the mobile mechanical ute has parked up permanently, the thriving workshop demonstrates one family’s vision to create a trusted regional brand.
Johnson’s 4WD has never lost sight of its mission: to deliver exceptional service, every time.
For the Johnson family, the road ahead is clear.
Keep blending tradition with innovation.
Keep investing in people.
And most importantly, keep helping Central Queenslanders explore, connect, and travel with confidence.
Because at Johnson’s 4WD, it’s never just about the vehicle. It’s about the journey.
Ready for your next adventure?
At Johnson’s 4WD, we know every journey depends on a vehicle you can

trust.
That’s why our workshop combines old-school care with modern technology, from routine servicing that keeps families safe on the school run, to ECU remapping that unlocks performance and efficiency for those bigger adventures.
Our team is here to make sure you hit the road safely and with confidence.
Book your service or ECU remap today and discover how Johnson’s 4WD can help you drive further, safer, and smarter.
Because adventure isn’t reserved for the experts, it’s for everyone, and it starts the moment you turn the key.

Come see Nathan and the team at Johnson’s 4WD and hit the road with confidence.

FUNTASTIC Cruises operates out of beautiful Yeppoon and throughout Great Keppel Island, offering visitors an unforgettable way to explore the sparkling waters and hidden gems of the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
Our business specialises in scenic island cruises, snorkelling adventures, private charters, and sunset experiences, combining relaxation and excitement for guests of all ages.
Whether you’re chasing an island adventure or a romantic sunset over the Capricorn Coast, we make every journey a truly Funtastic experience!
Funtastic Cruises began with a passion for the ocean and a desire to showcase the incredible natural beauty surrounding the Keppel Islands. Our founders, local to the region and ocean lovers, saw an opportunity to create a fun and family-friendly cruising experience that balanced comfort, adventure, and education suitable for all ages.
The idea was simple: provide a personal, welcoming service that lets people enjoy the islands just as the locals do.
We’ve been operating for several years now, steadily growing from a single charter boat to a well-established cruise business with a loyal following.
Over time, we’ve added new experiences, upgraded our vessels, and fine-tuned our tours to meet the changing interests of both tourists and locals.
Whether you’re looking for a slowpaced sailing experience or a fast boat adventure, Funtastic has something for you.
What makes Funtastic Cruises unique is our fun, friendly, family-run atmosphere and our commitment to creating relaxed, small-group experiences.
We take pride in personal service, guests are treated like friends, not just passengers.
Our crew’s local knowledge adds an authentic touch, and our tours are
designed to highlight the best snorkelling spots, secluded beaches, and marine life encounters around Great Keppel Island.
Some of our most popular experiences include the Full Day Cruise, or Kraken Great Keppel Island Adventure, which visits several reef sites and pristine island beaches around the Keppels, and our Sunset Cruise, where guests can unwind with a drink in hand as the sun sets over the Keppels.
We also offer private charters for special occasions, catching up with friends, work functions, and family getaways.
We cater to both locals and visitors by offering flexible packages and seasonal specials. Locals and visitors alike enjoy our private hire options and appreciate our all-inclusive experiences with snorkel gear, light refreshments, and friendly guides.
Feedback from guests is consistently glowing, they love our laid-back vibe, knowledgeable crew, and the chance to see turtles, dolphins, and coral reefs up close.
We ensure every visitor leaves with not just photos, but lasting memories of Great Keppel Island.
Supporting the local community is important to what we do.
We partner with nearby resorts, dive operators, and local businesses to promote the region as a whole, and we actively participate in local environmental initiatives.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our range and introduce new themed events on the water.
We see Funtastic Cruises continuing to grow as the top choice for visitors seeking fun, relaxation, and adventure in the Keppels.

What started as a small dive operation has grown into a full-service, family-run water sports provider welcoming both locals and international visitors.
Over the years, we’ve evolved from offering simple guided dives to running PADI certification courses, eco-tours, and family-friendly, all-abilities water experiences.

What truly sets Keppel Dive and Water Sports apart is our personal touch and local expertise.

CENTRAL Queensland is filled with hidden gems just waiting to be enjoyed.
Note, not ‘found’, but enjoyed. They’ve already been discovered after all, and enjoyed for generations.
As someone who loves to adventure locally, it’s the purpose, company and duration that lead the way in shaping decisions around preparedness.
A family day trip to the beach or bush requires a very different mindset than a weekend camping or caravanning trip.
Then again, even more consideration is needed when weeks away at a time is the aim of the game.
To add a level of complexity that not all have to contend with, except my fellow volunteers and those who work with young people in an educational setting, preparing for an adventure with children in tow who aren’t your own is another skill in itself.
Not hard, but considered.
No stone can be left unturned when preparing to explore Central Queensland with young people you’re responsible for as a Scout Leader.
The brilliant thing about the heart of Central Queensland is the sheer amount of free activities available across the Rockhampton region.
One of my favourite resources is one delivered by the Rockhampton Regional Council.
Advance Rockhampton’s Explore Rockhampton website is filled with adventures, advice, guidance and even free self-guided tours to help navigate all that is on offer.
Heading towards the coast, visitcapricorn.com.au is just as valuable for locals as it is for visitors.
Created by Capricorn Enterprise, the advocacy across the board for our great region of Central Queensland is evident in the pride displayed online and for the world to see.
These websites are traditionally considered tourist resources.
However, if you’re local, I implore you to take a look at both and create yourself a “holiday at home.”
If you’re a visitor reading this paper as you pass through, I hope you take this as a sign to explore a little more and stay a little longer.
In 2023 I decided to create a “holiday at home” using the Explore Rockhampton and Visit Capricorn websites.
Much to the amusement (or mild disgust) of my children, husband, brother, sister and mother, we spent an entire week trekking the region as tourists in our own town.
Now, disgust might be a harsh word, and perhaps “bemused” is more accurate, but nonetheless, it was an entertaining and sometimes “lame” week, according to my children.
Deep down, I know we’ll laugh about it for the rest of our days.
We learnt a lot about the region, and we got to experience it with fresh eyes, not as locals who drive past certain spots frequently and could almost be mistaken for taking them for granted.

The blog I wrote on the back of this week-long adventure, which has since had different versions published twice, is still one of my favourite pieces.
The most entertaining component of the exploration adventure was the Bull Statue Tour.
I can’t help but wonder who put that list together and how they went about it.
The history is fascinating and I do appreciate the work, but imagine heading home each day after work and explaining to your family that you spent the day writing about, photographing and researching the history of each bull statue in the region.
Having my children tell their Aunty Carly how boring the Bull Tour was (it wasn’t) prompted her light-hearted personality to take the mickey out of me and the weird things I like to do, which is always taking others on the journey too, in an attempt to educate, and instil

pride and respect.
Carly: “You know when people get old and do weird stuff? That’s you, mate!”
Me: Ignoring the statement… “I have two tours on the app for us today.”
Carly: “Of course you do.”
Me: “You’ll thank me for this one day. See what you’re learning? My job here is done.”
Never one to take myself too seriously, I went full “tourist mode” to embarrass and entertain my adventure comrades.
Aside from the day trip adventures promoted on the helpful websites, there are so many spots to camp or stay in accommodations.
From coastal caravan parks at Yeppoon to bush camping just outside of town, the choices are endless.
Families can enjoy the convenience of powered sites, while those seeking

solitude can pitch a tent under the stars and wake to the sound of birdsong.
For those who prefer comfort, boutique stays and farm-style retreats offer a different kind of escape, blending relaxation with the charm of country hospitality.
That’s the beauty of Central Queensland: it caters to every style of adventurer.
There’s a corner of this region ready to welcome everyone.
Central Queensland offers experiences that remind us why we’re lucky to live here.
The gems aren’t hidden, they’re waiting to be enjoyed, shared, and remembered.
And sometimes it’s worth remembering that the best adventures aren’t found overseas or hours away, but right here in our own backyard.
IF you are craving a quiet escape where nature does all the talking and time seems to finally slow down, Take A Break Bush Camp might just be your new favourite hidden gem.
Tucked away at 711 Thompson Point Road in Nankin, this peaceful bush stay sits between Rockhampton and Emu Park, surrounded by beautiful mountain views, shady gums and wide open sky as far as the eye can see.
It is a country calm right on the doorstep of the Capricorn Coast.
This bush camp offers spacious sites suitable for caravans up to 13 metres, campers of all types, and tent setups.
With a natural dam onsite and the Fitzroy River just 10 kilometres away, it is heaven for the fishing lover.
The dam itself is stocked with bass, silver perch and yabbies, which are catch and release only, while the river offers incredible fishing and crabbing opportunities that many travellers specifically seek out when staying here.
Evenings at Take A Break Bush Camp are exactly what the name promises.
Sit around a crackling fire, listen to the night sounds, stargaze without interruption and simply connect again to the things that matter.
Friendly cows wander nearby, and birds fill the trees, which adds to that

honest country charm visitors love.

WE all know the damage the sun on our skin, but too often sun screening our bodies and covering up is uncomfortable.
So we forget, or it’s just not convenient, especially around the home.
Now, thanks to an Australian manufacturer, Shadecube, who has revolutionised the way we can be outdoors with the freedom of not having to cover up.
There is quite a luxury in creating shade that is both beautiful and practical, especially in Central Queensland, where outdoor living is almost a sport in itself.
CQ Pergolas manager Craig Gibbs loves that his work helps locals enjoy those everyday moments more comfortably, whether that’s kids splashing around in the pool, entertaining friends on a Sunday arvo, or just parking the car without it copping full sun.
CQ Pergolas are North QLD sales agents for Shadecube.
But for Craig, it’s not just about selling an affordable DIY kit structure; it’s about making sure the design actually enhances the space rather than overtaking it.
Three years ago, Kim and Craig sold their award-winning pool and spa business in Yeppoon. The intention was
to slow down, but semi-retirement didn’t stick for long. Craig and his wife, Kim, became the North Queensland sales agent for Shadecube, and it was a product they clicked with instantly.
“We are the local community,” Craig said. “I believe Australians deserve products made for our climate, our lifestyle and the way we actually live outdoors, and Shadecube is exactly that. We can offer major city solutions without the hassle.”
One of the biggest drawcards is that the product is Australian-made on the Gold Coast, which is something Craig is fiercely proud of.
“Locals want quality they can trust, without inflated price tags or long waits,” Craig said.
“Many of my customers have told me they feel genuinely looked after through the whole process, because I take the time to communicate, offer solutions and listen.”
With business growth being strong and steady, Craig now hopes to continue building the reseller network along the North Queensland coastline, with a goal of ten Shadecube resellers by 2027.
Passion, community pride and a glass-half-full outlook is what keeps Craig going.

THERE’S a certain kind of magic that only happens around water.
That instant exhale. That slow shift into holiday mode.
That feeling that you’re suddenly lighter, calmer and a little bit more like your favourite summer version of yourself.
That exact feeling is what Aqualification and Fitness has been creating for Rockhampton families for 11 years at the Northside Pool.
Operated by aquatic lovers Joy Symons and her husband Val Kalmikovs, the company has evolved from a small swim school they began when their children were tiny, into running one of Central Queensland’s most loved lifestyle leisure destinations.
“We’ve always loved the water, so it made sense for us to help others find safety here,” Joy said.
The Northside Pool is a true experience, not just a swim.
Think three towering 10 metre waterslides, an 18 hole mini golf course, crystal clear water, shady spaces to relax, a renovated wading pool for the littlest swimmers and an eight lane 50 metre pool that invites you to just glide.
It has become a weekend ritual for many local families. It is the place where friendships form, birthdays are

held, school holidays feel like holidays again – and where Rockhampton summers come alive.
Adults aren’t forgotten either, with Aqua Aerobics, Adult Swim squads and casual fitness options that make
exercise feel like pleasure rather than a chore.
“The more people swim easily and enjoy the water, the safer people are in the water,” Joy said.
Joy puts the centre’s success down to
values.
Their philosophy of family, education and biology flows through everything, from the way they care for water quality, to the way they nurture staff, to the experiences they create for the children swimming there today… many of whom return years later as lifeguards themselves.
The centre’s commitment to community is real and ongoing, with water safety education in schools, monthly themed events, Santa photos, Easter egg dives and collaborations with Royal Lifesaving to continuously lead improved public safety outcomes in the industry.
And the best part? There is still more to come.
Aqua Aerobic cards are about to launch, new lockers are on the way, and even a board game is currently in development, which is very on brand for this fun, forward, community-first aquatic destination.
Aqualification and Fitness is not just a pool. It is a place where the community gathers, children grow confident in the water, families reconnect, time slows down, and life feels softer.
This summer, go where the joy is: Northside Pool.

Summer is the perfect time to focus on your health, shed a few extra kilos, and enjoy fresh, vibrant foods. The longer days, warmer weather, and abundance of seasonal produce make it easier to embrace a healthier lifestyle.Whether your goal is to slim down, boost your energy, or simply feel better, these summer-friendly tips and tricks can help you achieve your health goals.
1. Stay hydrated
One of the simplest yet most overlooked ways to support weight loss is staying properly hydrated. Water helps regulate your metabolism, reduces hunger, and keeps your body functioning optimally in the summer heat.Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, and consider incorporating hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges. If you find plain water boring, infuse it with fresh fruit, mint, or cucumber for a refreshing twist.
2. Embrace seasonal produce
Summer is a bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables.Take advantage of local markets and seasonal offerings to fill your plate with nutrient-dense, low-calorie foods.Berries, cherries, peaches, tomatoes, zucchini, and leafy greens are all packed with vitamins, minerals, and fibrethat help you feel full and satisfied.
3. Plan light, balanced meals
Summer is the ideal season to lighten up your meals.Focus on lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats, while keeping portions in check.Grilled chicken, fish, tofu, quinoa, brown rice, and avocado are excellent choices.Pair them with colourfulsalads or roasted vegetables for a meal that’s both satisfying and nutritious. Planning meals ahead of time can prevent impulsive snackingand support consistent healthy eating.
4. Make smart snack choices
Warm weather often calls for snacking outdoors or on the go.Swap high-calorie chips and sweets for healthier alternatives like a handful of nuts, Greek yoghurt with fruit, or vegetable sticks with hummus.Frozen grapes, smoothie bowls, and homemade iced teas are also refreshing options that curb cravings without derailing your goals.
5. Keep moving outdoors
Summer offers endless opportunities to be active outside, which can boost weight loss and improve overall fitness.Walking along the beach, swimming, cycling, paddleboarding, or joining a summer sports league are all fun ways to burn calories while enjoyingthe sunshine.Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days and try to make it social; it’s easier to stay motivated when you’re having fun with friends or family.
6. Mind your portion sizes
Even healthy foods can contribute to weight gain if portions are too large. In summer, lighter meals are often more satisfying, so pay attention to how much you’re eating. Using smaller plates, measuring servings, and listening to your body’s hunger cues can prevent overeating.
7. Prioritisesleep and stress management
Weight loss isn’t just about diet and exercise.Adequate sleep and stress control play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy weight.Long summer evenings can sometimes disrupt sleep patterns, so stick to a consistent bedtime and wind down with relaxing activities like reading or meditation. Lowering stress also helps prevent emotional eating and supports metabolic health.
8. Treat yourself, mindfully
Finally, don’t deprive yourself of summer treats.Whether it’s a scoop of ice cream or a cold drink, enjoying occasional indulgences in moderation is key to sustainable healthy eating. The goal is balance, not perfection, and learning to enjoy your favourite foods mindfully can prevent bingeing and guilt.
Remember, small, consistent changes add up over time, making healthy living a lifestyle rather than a temporary fix. This summer, focus on nourishing your body, staying active, and having fun, and the results will follow.

IT was decor galore once again this Christmas, with P.A.M. Furnishings unveiling its sixth annual Christmas window display to the Yeppoon community.
The reveal took place in midNovember at the James Street store, where families, locals and Christmas lovers gathered to see what display organiser Nicole Clanfield had created this year.
The opening night offered lucky door prizes, 20 per cent off store-wide (exclusions applied) and a Bobos Bakehouse pop-up shop to help celebrate the launch.
Nicole said she always looked forward to the festive season and loved seeing the excitement it brought to the community.
“This is my sixth year doing the display and I love every moment of it,” she said.
This year’s display took several weeks to plan, create and bring to life.
Nicole focused on a warm, nostalgic Christmas theme, using traditional colours, soft lighting and classic decorations but making it special with the addition of a giant teddy and his friends.
She said she liked keeping the details a surprise until the public reveal and always introduced new additions to make each year’s display feel fresh.
Her daughter helped decorate the big Christmas tree every year and offered creative ideas along side Michelle from our very own local Christmas shop – Royal Collectables, while Nicole’s colleague Gavin and husband Brian, helped with setup and the heavier lifting.
Over the years, the display has become a local tradition.
Families and visiting tourists alike stop to take photos and share the experience with friends, creating a simple community ritual as Christmas approaches.

Nicole said there had been no vandalism this year.
A previous incident had occurred some years ago when offenders accessed the display via nearby scaffolding, but this season passed without disruption.
She also chose not to decorate the roof, focusing all attention on the window scene itself.
The display is more than just lights and decorations; it reflects P.A.M. Furnishings’ connection to the Capricorn Coast community.
The Yeppoon-based store is known for its wide range of home furnishings, including lounges, dining and living furniture, outdoor sets, bedding, mattresses and mobility aids.
Over the years, P.A.M. Furnishings has built a reputation for quality products, friendly service and a welcoming retail environment that caters to families and individuals alike.
Nicole said what she loved most about creating the display each year was the joy it brought to people and the sense of connection it created in town.
“It’s not just about decorations,” she said.

“It’s about families coming together, enjoying the lights and feeling part of something special.”
However, this year marked a bittersweet milestone.
Nicole confirmed this would be her final Christmas window display for P.A.M. Furnishings.
“Every year my family and friends say it’s the best yet,” she said.
“I really hope this year is no different.”
After six years of building a festive tradition that had become part of Yeppoon’s Christmas identity, Nicole said it felt like the right time to finish and move on.
As the lights continue to glow through the holiday season, the window display may fade into the background of the Christmas bustle.
But for many, it will remain a lasting memory of a special November evening when Yeppoon paused, looked in the glass, and let the magic of Christmas begin.
Beyond the festive display, P.A.M. Furnishings remains a trusted destination for residents across the Capricorn Coast.
The store offers a carefully curated selection of furniture and homewares designed to suit modern lifestyles, with everything from cosy lounges and durable dining sets to comfortable

bedding and mattresses. P.A.M. Furnishings also provides mobility aids and outdoor furniture, ensuring that their offerings cater to every stage of life and lifestyle needs.
Nicole said the store’s commitment to the community goes hand-in-hand with the Christmas display. “We love seeing our customers enjoy the products they bring home and knowing that our store helps people create a comfortable and stylish home,” she said.
With a team dedicated to quality, service and local knowledge, P.A.M. Furnishings continues to deliver more than just furniture — it delivers an experience.
From helping families furnish their dream homes to offering personalised guidance and reliable delivery, the store has become a key part of Yeppoon’s retail and community landscape.
This year’s Christmas display is a reminder of the store’s role in the heart of the town.
While Nicole steps away from the festive windows, P.A.M. Furnishings will continue to provide exceptional products and service for years to come.
Whether it’s decking the halls at Christmas or helping customers find the perfect lounge, bed or outdoor setting, the team at P.A.M. Furnishings is ready to make homes across the Capricorn Coast warm, stylish and inviting.

MOUNT Morgan is lighting up this festive season with a trio of events designed to celebrate the joy and spirit of Christmas across the community.
From dazzling home displays to local shopping incentives and a familyfriendly concert, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
For at least the past seven years, Mount Morgan Promotion and Development Inc (MMPAD) has been running the town’s Christmas Lights Competition.
MMPAD president John Steinberger said there is no designated theme, but all residents are encouraged to celebrate the spirit of Christmas by actively participating in all events.
With Heritage Minerals now sponsoring the event, the competition has seen a surge in participation, including last year’s record-breaking entries.
Participants simply decorate their homes and yards, register with MMPAD, and wait for a panel of local judges to score their efforts on creativity, festive icons, and innovative displays.
From commercial premises to private residences, the competition highlights the town’s collective Christmas cheer, bringing neighbours together in celebration.
Alongside twinkling lights, MMPAD is encouraging the community to shop locally with its Buy Local Promotion.
Running from October through December, the initiative aims to keep holiday spending in town while giving shoppers the chance to win a share of a prize pool valued at more than $3000. “The Buy Local Promotion encourages support from shoppers by keeping the spend low; a minimum of $20 goes into the draw,” Mr Steinberger explained.
Local businesses from cafes and service stations to museums and real estate agencies are participating, contributing vouchers to the prize pool.
The promotion not only rewards shoppers but also strengthens the local economy, ensuring money spent in Mount Morgan benefits the community directly.
Capping off the festive celebrations, the Christmas Twilight Concert offers

residents a chance to gather, enjoy entertainment, and soak up the holiday atmosphere.
Introduced in 2020, it is the only Mount Morgan event dedicated exclusively to celebrating Christmas. Set at the historic railway complex, the concert features performances from local and Central Queensland artists, food stalls, and the highly anticipated announcement of the Christmas Lights and Buy Local winners.
Families can enjoy a safe and accessible environment, complete with seating, lighting, and ample parking.

“We always ensure the entertainment is family-oriented, and the event is promoted as a family gathering to celebrate Christmas spirit,” Mr Steinberger said.
Together, these initiatives foster a sense of community, giving residents and visitors multiple ways to participate in the festive season.
From illuminating streets to supporting local businesses and enjoying live entertainment, Mount Morgan’s Christmas celebrations reflect the town’s enduring commitment to community spirit and holiday cheer.

Mr Steinberger hopes the events inspire residents to embrace the season fully.
“They contribute by offering opportunities for residents to celebrate the joy of Christmas, and the lights especially help spread the Christmas spirit,” he said.
With decorations shining bright, prizes up for grabs, and music filling the air, Mount Morgan is proving that the festive season is a time to come together, celebrate, and create lasting memories.
