Concours coming Noosa Concours d’Elegance returns to Hastings Street on Saturday 18 July and organisers are encouraging locals to experience the event at a time that best suits them, the individual. As a free community event, Noosa Concours offers a different atmosphere throughout the day, from the excitement of the morning arrivals to the relaxed afternoon displays and the spectacular departure parade. Event Director Alesha Gooderham said one of the unique aspects of Noosa Concours is that every time of the day offers a different experience. “Whether you’re captivated by the anticipation of the morning, prefer taking your time to admire the cars in the afternoon, or love the theatre of the departure parade, there really is no wrong time to visit, I would recommend the morning or late afternoon,” Alesha Gooderham said. Bridge must be built: Council By Margie Maccoll Noosa Council has determined Doonella Lake Bridge has reached its end of life and despite the impact to Noosa’s road network which was voiced loudly by the community, building a new bridge now is a project that can’t be delayed, but council says it is open to continual monitoring, discussion and finding ways to ease the pain where possible. “We’re at the point that if one of the pylons fails it will become inoperable, we’d have to close it. We just can’t take that risk any more,” Noosa Council CEO Larry Sengstock told Noosa
Today on Monday. “Unfortunately it’s a project that we have to do, It’s a project that requires quite a bit of time and effort and cost to do it and if we don’t do it now then we’re in for a much bigger pain later on,” he said. The construction project began on Monday 6 July to replace the bridge built in 1969, with council initiating a one-lane open, one-way plan allowing traffic across the bridge from Tewantin to Noosaville and diverting traffic travelling from Noosaville to Tewantin via Noosa Eumundi and Beckman’s roads.
