Local icons shine and professional leadership. Over a career spanning more than three decades, his work behind the scenes has contributed to better outcomes for patients while helping shape the future of medical practice. Another recipient from Narre Warren has become synonymous with community sport. Through years of volunteer service, leadership and mentorship, Mick Hawking has played a significant role in fostering participation, supporting local clubs and ensuring cricket remains an important part of community life.
His efforts have helped create opportunities for players of all ages while strengthening the social fabric that local sport provides. Kuranda Seyit, has also been honoured with the medal for dedicating much of his life to championing social inclusion, multicultural understanding and community advocacy. His work has focused on bringing people together across cultural and religious backgrounds, supporting vulnerable groups and promoting a more cohesive society. Through leadership, education and public
engagement, he has helped build stronger connections within the community and encouraged greater understanding between diverse groups. The awards also highlight the diverse ways individuals can contribute to society, and while Scientific achievement, volunteer leadership and social advocacy seem worlds apart, each plays a vital role in building healthy, connected and resilient communities.
