Revamp nears end Final works are now underway for Stage 1 of the Pakenham Revitalisation project, bringing the Main Street Gateway precinct closer to completion. These upgrades are designed to make the town centre safer, easier to get around and more enjoyable for residents, businesses and visitors. Final elements of the upgrade are currently underway, including the installation of a new roundabout, landscaping, lighting, road pavement, kerb works, raised pedestrian crossings, seating and bins. Over the coming weeks, the community will see some temporary changes to traffic and access while the finishing works take place.

a closure of Drake Place from 22 June – 6 July to complete the remaining works. During the Drake Place closure, nearby parallel parking (near Railway Hotel) will also be temporarily unavailable to allow for the safe installation of new lighting, seating and landscaping. While these final works are being completed, two-way traffic will be maintained along Main Street, with traffic controllers onsite to direct traffic through shuttle flow. To minimise disruption to businesses and the community, asphalt works are expected to be carried out at night. While the council will work to minimise disruption, the community may notice temporary impacts such as increased traffic, noise, dust and

lighting. Local businesses are still open, with traffic management and signed detours in place to guide motorists around the area and keep the community moving. The council kindly ask all road users to follow traffic signs and drive safely through the area. Short term delays are expected, so please plan ahead. The council appreciates the community’s patience, cooperation and understanding as we work to build a better Pakenham. All works included in the Stage 1 Main Street Gateway precinct are expected to be completed in July 2026, conditions permitting. From 1 - 8 June, access around the Railway Hotel will temporarily change, as one lane will be closed to enable final kerb works to be completed. During these works, Station Street access will temporarily reopen to traffic, and parking bays will be temporarily closed on both sides of Main Street, near the Railway Hotel.
