Bail justice speaks out
Market buzz ScullyBug Market has arrived in Cranbourne CBD, giving locals a new monthly farmers market and Night Bites food truck event. Founder Lisa Doherty, a Cranbourne local, said she wanted to fill a gap in central Cranbourne for family-friendly community gatherings. The market features about 75 to 80 daytime stalls, children’s activities, live music, seating and food trucks. Ms Doherty said the event would continue through winter despite colder weather. Tribute court open A new sports court dedicated to former Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon has been officially opened at Blairlogie Living and Learning in Cranbourne South. The Amanda Stapledon Memorial Court was funded through a donation from close friends Robin and Arnes Dzedins, with support from Community Bank Pearcedale and volunteers. The court includes facilities for basketball, soccer and pickleball and is intended to serve
Blairlogie clients and the broader community. Blairlogie CEO Carolyn Carr said the project was the result of “a village” coming together over two and a half years and reflected Amanda’s commitment to community inclusion, particularly for people with disabilities. Ms Dzedins said Amanda’s contribution to Casey had not been forgotten. She said there are a huge number of people in the community who loved Amanda and cared

deeply about her. “Amanda loved Blairlogie. Peter (Amanda’s son) is happy here. I wanted something for Pete and his friends to be able to use.” Amanda served on the Casey Council from 2008 to 2020, including two terms as Mayor and Deputy Mayor. She co-founded Casey Kidz Club and completed two 75-kilometre Mayors Walks for Disability to highlight service gaps for people with
disabilities and carers. She took her own life in 2022 while involved in IBAC’s Operation Sandon investigation. A coroner later found she believed she faced jail over corruption allegations, despite IBAC later stating it had never considered criminal charges against her. Lifeline 13 11 14 Full story page 13
