Treadmill tribute Tooradin Dalmore Junior Football Club turned a junior football round into a fundraiser on Sunday for Very Special Kids, a charity supporting children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Inspired by one of the club’s own families, the Whitnell family, players, supporters and local businesses joined in by keeping treadmills running throughout the day. The event mirrored Very Special Kids’ upcoming 24-Hour Treadmill Challenge, which begins this Friday. Full story page 12

Trucks go electric Casey Council will roll out what is believed to be Australia’s first fully electric hard waste truck fleet from July. Councillors backed a new waste collection contract at the May Council Meeting on Tuesday 26 May. The preferred option includes six electric compactor trucks supported by tray trucks,
including electric vehicles for collecting e-waste such as televisions, computers and fridges, while Euro 6 diesel vehicles would be kept as backups. Officers said the proposal would reduce emissions, increase landfill diversion and improve sustainability outcomes. The EV option was estimated to cost about $3
