Tunnel vision... The tunnel fully opens on 1 February. From that day, South East services will bypass South Yarra and Richmond stations for a quicker and more frequent commute into the city and direct line to Sunbury in the West. Dandenong MP and Transport Infrastructure Minister Gabrielle Williams says the project is
needed to unravel the full-to-capacity City Loop and add further train services. The big question for commuters is how they navigate the change. What time will you save? How many extra services will run? How do you connect to the other metro
rail lines? And how do you get to the MCG and adjoining sports precinct? Star News visited the new State Library station last week, and found out the answers to these key questions. Turn to page 3

The $13.5 billion Metro Tunnel is set to reshape South East commuters’ journeys to and from the CBD. From early December, in a ‘partial opening’, Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will start diverting through five new central stations Arden, Parkville, State Library, Town Hall and Anzac.
