Emergency delay Monash Health has defended its handling of mental health patients in emergency departments after data showed Casey and Dandenong hospitals had the state’s lowest rates of timely transfers to mental health beds. In the final quarter of 2024–25, none of Casey’s mental health patients and only 4 per cent at Dandenong were admitted within eight hours,
compared to Victoria’s 44 per cent average.
