One of Australia’s most celebrated animators is coming home. Academy Award-winner and Berwick-born filmmaker Adam Elliot will appear at Bunjil Place on Saturday, 20 July for an exclusive screening of his latest feature, Memoir of a Snail. The stop-motion film, which premiered at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival and earned 17 wins and 71 nominations, will be followed by a live Q&A with the acclaimed “clayographer“ himself.
Known for his emotionally charged storytelling and painstakingly handcrafted animation, Elliot has captivated audiences worldwide — but says he’s especially eager to share this latest story with his local community. Whether you’re a fan of Mary and Max or simply curious about the artistry behind stop-motion animation, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from the creator about his process, inspiration, and what it means to bring a film home.
