Riding the OAM train For 45 years Richard Knight has dedicated time and energy to his role of treasurer at the Mooroolbark Miniature Railway because of his sense of passion for both finance and trains. And as much as his Medal of the Order of Australia recognition in this yearâs Kingâs Birthday Honours was because of his decades of service to the railway, it was also an acknowledgement of half a lifetime of commitment to making other peopleâs lives that little bit better. From the moment his wife needed blood donations during the birth of their twins, Mr Knight became a long-standing blood donor himself. And then went on to help provide voluntary transport to patients needing to get to medical appointments. But he also found friendship and comradeship doing what he loves. Symbol of unity Keryn Ralph saying they felt like they as a team had a responsibility to get behind the initiative. âFamily violence, or violence against women, is an epidemic across the nation, thereâs been, what, over 130 women who have been killed since the start of last year,â she said. âIt was something thatâs a responsibility of ours, but also a responsibility of men, to really get

A peaceful protest circulating sporting clubs throughout Victoria reached the edges of eastern suburbia as Mooroolbark Football Clubâs womenâs team donned two red armbands on Saturday 31 May. The red stripes were a symbol of unity among
women and girls in sport after the State Government announced cuts to gender equity and inclusion funding in the 2025-26 budget. Initiating the protest, alongside a petition, Not All Clubs Media put a call out to sporting clubs across Victoria to stand in solidarity and seek a reversal of the funding cuts.
