Easter fun in Warburton Get ready for a day of live music and celebrations as the Warburton Easter fundraiser returns to Mac Sparke Oval on Sunday 4 April. For the music lovers, Mike Rudd’s Indelibles will be performing, as well as Lisa Edwards, the Yarra River Band and the Lone Mariachi in some of their first live gigs following the Covid-19 pandemic. From 12.30pm to 5pm locals can enjoy hot food, market stalls and raffles. A custom car
and hot rod show will also be a main feature. Event organiser and Warburton local John Seegers said he’s expecting it to be a “huge day”. “We’re going to have lots of giveaways ... The most important thing is that it’s going to be such a great day, we’re all excited about it,” he said. “I hope people takeaway some memories that they’ve had a great day and a lot of laugh-
ter. And I also hope that they can take some of the raffle prizes home.” There will be plenty of entertainment for the kids too as Variety Club’s Sesame Street Bus will be coming along for the day with all the favourite Sesame Street characters. Mount Evelyn based performer, Mr Rudd, said he’s looking forward to eating some Easter eggs and hot cross buns. “It’s great fun to be playing live ... It makes
me feel like a kid again,” Mr Rudd joked. Ms Edwards said, “It’s an honour to be asked to perform ... I’m looking forward to seeing the community come together and enjoy a beautiful day and the fact that it’ll go to a good charity, so it’s lovely to be involved.” Entry is free and the event is sponsored by the Warburton and Yarra Junction Community Bank branches. Funds raised will assist the SES, CFA and other volunteer organisations.

Keep kids busy at Easter Two weeks of school holidays, of kids wanting to be out and about doing things - it can get expensive, so here’s some ideas of how to keep them entertained without the cost. The Easter Bunny will be making a special visit to Seville’s Branded Burgers and Bar this Easter Sunday. First it was Santa at Branded, now the Easter Bunny is hopping in store as the burger bar’s co-owner Gina Braidner clearly has some friends in high places. “We’re on a first-name basis,” she joked. Ma Braidner shared what it would mean to have the Easter Bunny at Branded. “It’s really exciting. We just really love having these special visitors here,” she said. The burger bar will play host to a range of activities over the Easter long weekend, which includes hosting local band Flaming Moe’s on Saturday 3 April at 1pm-4pm, then a unique Easter egg hunt across the township of Seville on Sunday 4 April. Children will be able to have their face painted and will be given a map of Seville for the egg hunt, where they will search for seven tokens across Seville to retrieve a code to solve a hidden message, which can then be exchanged for chocolate eggs from the Easter Bunny. Families can earn raffle tickets throughout the day by tagging Branded in a post on facebook or Instagram for an opportunity to win the major prize of a giant fluffy toy bunny and a big choc egg. Entry into the egg hunt is $5 to cover the event costs. That entry fee can then be used as a credit for families dining at the restaurant. Ms Braidner said Branded wanted to help

AML is not a single disease but the name given to a group of leukaemias that develop
in the myeloid cell line in the bone marrow. Each year in Australia around 900 people are diagnosed with AML and it is more common in adults over the age of 60. Around 50 children (0-14 years) are diagnosed with AML in Australia each year. “He had been feeling tired and looking a bit pale and had been that way for many months really. Launching Place resident Tristan Rogers shaved off his dreadlocks in support of 16 year old Merrick Edleston, who was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. Merrick has spent the last ten weeks in the Monash Hospital and is preparing for a second round of chemotherapy and will soon face the prospect of a bone marrow transplant to treat his condition. Mr Rogers, 21, had been growing his dreadlocks for over seven years. When he heard
about what Seville resident Merrick was going through, he pledged his hair to raise funds in support of the Edleston family. The campaign rallied the Seville community including Merrick’s schools of Seville Primary School and Lilydale High School and raised over $12,000 for the Edlestons. Merrick’s mother Maree, was thankful for the community’s donations and said the money would help cover the costs of fuel traveling to and from hospital, medical expenses, parking costs, purchasing meals during long hospi-

School goes full STEAM By Jed Lanyon Monbulk MP and Acting Premier James Merlino toured Upper Yarra Secondary College’s new STEAM pavilion on Friday 26 March as the school celebrated the completion of stage one of their master plan works. Mr Merlino took a guided tour of the new facilities by Upper Yarra’s junior leaders and principal Scott Tully. “This is a project I’ve been really heavily involved in and am quite excited about,” Mr Merlino said to the Year 8 cohort. “There’s a lot more that will be happening, as you go through over the next couple of years there will be a lot more demolition and a lot more building of new buildings. About $16.3 million has been invested into this fantastic school. “It’s about delivering state of the art science and tech facilities to really engage in your learning. It’s great for you and great for your teachers ... It feels and it looks special.” Architects Harrison and White were responsible for designing the new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) pavilion. Architect Gina Kenah said the works incorporated into the school’s identity of the outdoor environment and the impressive landscape that surrounds the school. “We wanted to increase that with the new building, instead of looking inwards, we wanted to look outwards to their landscape,” she said. “The building itself has the big open spaces and the learning commons that allow that connectivity and breakout spaces and all those ways of working.” The works include an area where students and staff can take part in a smoking ceremony, which was used to welcome and celebrate the opening of the facilities. The school’s original science labs were over 50 years old as Mr Tully said he was “absolutely rapt” to see the opening of the new pavilion.

During Mr Merlino’s tour, keen students shared what they liked most about the new buildings and classrooms and showed knowledge of the inner workings of the construction. “We’ve tried to include the students throughout the whole process,” Mr Tully said.
“They’re the ones who use it, they’re the ones who are housed in it, it’s their classrooms. So we talked to them about what they like and don’t like so they should know what’s going on probably better than most of us. “It allows us to change our teaching to be more flexible, so we’re going from a traditional box styled classroom to a much more flexible open and modern facilities which allows us to
Picture: JED LANYON change our teaching as well.” Mr Tully said the master plan to be completed in years to come will make for a “complete modernisation” of the Yarra Junction school. The upgrade works form part of the state government’s Lilydale and Upper Yarra Education Plan where Lilydale High school and Lilydale Heights College all featured in major upgrades in a boost to Yarra Valley public schools.

Cyber attack pain Public healthcare service Eastern Health continues to feel the impacts of a suspected cyber attack that occurred on Tuesday 16 March. Eastern Health took many of their health IT systems offline earlier this month as a precaution as they sought to understand and clarify the situation. The health service operates across the eastern region including sites such as Healesville Hospital, Angliss Hospital, Box Hill Hospital, Healesville Hospital and Yarra Valley Health in Healesville, Maroondah Hospital, Yarra Ranges Health in Lilydale and more. “Eastern Health continues to manage the impacts of a significant cyber incident experienced last week,” a spokesperson said. “While a number of our systems remain offline, our Business Continuity Plans have been enacted and we continue to make inroads to our planned recovery. “Thank you to our staff, patients and visi-
tors for their understanding at this time.” As at Monday 22 March, communications to Eastern Health were still impacted with email services down. An Eastern Health spokesperson said that patient safety had not been compromised. “Category 1 Elective Surgery will continue as planned. However, the incident has impacted our ability to undertake less urgent (Category 2 and 3 Elective Procedures) which will be postponed to a later date. Knoxfield resident Ray Peace, who has been waiting for surgery since December, said the delays have increased his nerves around surgery. “It does cause stress because psychologically you get prepared for it and last minute they pulled the plug when your almost ready, and you have to start preparing all over again,“ he said. Eastern Health apologised for the inconvenience the incident may cause. “We thank our staff, patients and their
families for patience during this situation and we will keep them informed,“ a spokesperson said. The health service’s contact centre was inundated with calls throughout the week, further impacting their communications. “Check our website for information and if the situation is an emergency, please call 000,” the spokesperson said. “Eastern Health ensures all patient information continues to be handled with the necessary care, confidentiality and due diligence.” Eastern Health continues to accept patients at their emergency departments. “Any delays experienced with our contact centre have been rectified and we encourage patients patients and the community to utilise this service if they have any queries.” Covid-19 vaccinations for prioritised staff will continue across their sites.

We had blood tests done and received a phone call on the same day saying you need to take him to Box Hill Hospital now.” Ms Edleston said she remembered taking Merrick to the hospital with the blood results which featured the word ‘Leukemia’. “He was admitted on the 20th of January and has not come home again.” Despite this, Ms Edleston said Merrick kept a positive attitude and had been continuing a bit of his school work from his maths methods class. “His attitude has been excellent, he hasn’t complained or felt too sorry for himself. He’s fairly matter of fact about it all, but can get a bit grumpy or tired and has been suffering from nausea. “We’re very appreciative (of the support) it’s super awkward as most of us aren’t comfortable or used to receiving this kind of help from others. We just want to say thank you to everybody. “I think it’s fantastic what Tristan is sacrificing. It’s really thoughtful especially of a young man that age to be generous and altruistic. It’s a beautiful thing.” Mr Rogers, who works at Cire Services’ Out of School Hours Care Program in Badger Creek, said he heard about Merrick’s condition through his mother. “Mum told me the story about Merrick and what had happened and you feel the need to help out in whatever way you can ... Road rage assault Lilydale Police are seeking public assistance in relation to a road rage incident and assault in Lilydale recently. The incident allegedly occurred outside Anytime Fitness in Main St, Lilydale around 9am on 1 March. Police would like to speak to the driver of a Nissan Patrol with a black bull bar and roof racks about the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Senior Constable Campbell on 9739 2300. A 50-year-old mother who was supervising a young learner driver on local roads failed a preliminary breath test on Sunday 14 March. The Sunday drive was cut short when the woman was made to accompany police for an evidentiary breath test. She later provided a sample of 0.081 and will have to explain herself to a Magistrate at an upcoming court date.
Men wanted for alleged destruction of wildlife The Conservation Regulator is seeking information about two male offenders allegedly involved in taking and destroying wildlife in Dixon’s Creek last month. On Thursday 11 February, the first male offender was recorded on a camera in the Paul Range State Forest. He was in possession of two bird species and a rifle. The first male offender is perceived to be South East Asian in appearance and aged in his late twenties to early thirties. One of the birds is believed to be a Powerful Owl, Australia’s largest Owl species. Powerful Owls are endangered in Victoria. On Thursday 18 February, a second male offender was recorded at the same location, carrying a rifle and black backpack. The second male offender is perceived to be South East Asian in appearance and aged in his forties or fifties. Co-owner Gina Braidner explained why they were happy to help. “It’s just about giving a platform for people to come together and support each other, we have the platform and the facilities so

A lesson from Aunty Joy By Jed Lanyon Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Joy Murphy Wandin visited Woori Yallock Primary School to perform a smoking ceremony for the school’s students. Aunty Joy conducted an Acknowledgement of Country to a 48,000 strong MCG crowd for the Richmond vs Carlton AFL season opener on 17 March. The following Thursday, she did the same for about 100 students in attendance at Woori Yallock. Aunty Joy was emotional upon asking a Woori Yallock student to help her perform the Acknowledgement to Country when the young boy did so with great respect. She explained what that moment meant to her. “Oh my god, it took my breath away. For a child of his age, it just goes to show what is being taught in this school and obviously what he has learnt at home,” she said. “For him, very proudly coming up and acknowledging my people and all First Nations people, that’s huge. I hope we have many more kids like him coming through. “He truly understands what he was saying, there was no hesitation. I loved the little glimpses he gave me every now and again when he was saying it.” The students watched on as Aunty Joy performed the smoking ceremony, then took part in asking her questions. Later, Aunty Joy shared some difficult stories from her upbringing during the Stolen Generations to senior students. “People have to hear these hard stories because it’s the only way we’re going to learn but hopefully it will allow them to better understand who we are and where we come from.” She said she hoped the recently announced Yoo-rrook Justice Commission, the nation’s first truth-telling process, would provide an understanding of the injustices experienced by Aboriginal people. “I hope they take away all of it. I think

Athletes and students lose locks for a great cause By Jed Lanyon Footy player tackles blood cancer Eastern Ranges co-captain El Chaston braved the shave while raising over $7250 for the Leukemia Foundation. Chaston originally set the goal of $4000 before the Eastern Ranges family got behind the cause to nearly double the target. The NAB League player shared how she was feeling after shaving her hair in front of her teammates and family at a training session on 23 March. “I feel really, really good. I’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of support not only from donations but just people getting behind me and backing me in. “It can be a bit of a nerve racking thing to shave your head but I’ve had nothing but support from everyone at the club and friends and family.” Despite crushing her fundraising goal, the Ranges forward said she was uncertain as to whether she would reach the target in time. “It took off really quick at the start, which I expected, but then there was a little while where I thought gee will I even make it to the $4000? “Then we made it under a week out from the shave and from there, these last couple days it’s taken off again.” Woori Brothers brave the shave Woori Yallock brothers Benjamin and Jacob Ahmad raised $358 when they rallied Woori Yallock Primary School to get behind their World’s Greatest Shave campaign. The school held a Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday 23 March which was the culmination of the boys’ fundraising, where they had their heads shaved in front of the entire school. Proud parents Danielle and Bilal Ahmad spoke to Star Mail about the boys’ achievement of donating their hair. “It’s taken two years to get to this point, we’ve had a lot of pain and tears while brushing their hair and keeping it healthy,” Bilal said. “They found out about kids who have mailcommunity.com.au

But it gave them some extra time to grow their long locks. the $358 raised is more than enough to help a family attend a support program catered for their specific type of blood cancer.
I think it became a good thing when Covid came along as it gave them motivation to grow it longer and keep it going because they couldn’t have it chopped off,” Bilal said. “They were going to do it last year but they thought we’ll keep going and grow it longer,” Danielle said. “Benjamin’s hair got to 45 centimetres and Jacob got to 30 centimetres, which is a stellar effort.” “It’s incredible to know that they’re helping people who are suffering from illness and that at such a young age they’ve got such big hearts and they want to support other people.”

Roll up for film festival By Seth Lukas Hynes On Sunday April 11, the Memorial Hall in Healesville will host the 2021 Healesville Mini Film Festival. Managed by the Yarra Ranges Film Society, this year’s Mini Film Festival features three powerful but lesser-known films from smaller countries. The Swallows of Kabul is a 2019 animated French-Afghanistan co-production based on the novel by Yasmina Khadra, and follows a struggling couple in Taliban-occupied Kabul during the nineties. Buoyancy, directed by Australian filmmaker Rodd Rathjen but shot in Thailand, is a harrowing small-scale thriller about a young Cambodian boy sold into slavery on a Thai fishing boat. It Must Be Heaven is a charming dry comedy from Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleiman, who stars as a globe-trotting elderly man con-
stantly reminded of the home he left behind. The Mini Film Festival will commence at 10:15 am and conclude at 5:15 pm, with a lunch-break at 11:45 am. The program costs
$36, or $14.50 per film. Directed by YRFS Vice-President Keith Wade, the Healesville Mini Film Festival has become a staple of the local film community,
and this will be the seventh Mini Film Festival since its inception in 2015. The first five Mini Film Festivals each featured three films from a famous director, starting with Polish filmmaker Krzystof Kie?lowski’s lauded Three Colours trilogy. Then came Dutch-Australian director Rolf De Heer, Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, the Before trilogy by Richard Linklater, and iconic Japanese director Akira Kurosawa. In 2020 the Mini Film Festival shifted its focus to films with strong shared themes, screening three acclaimed recent French films. Hollow earth in an entertaining movie with substance Godzilla vs Kong Starring Alexander Skarsgard, Rebecca Hall and Millie Bobby Brown Rated M Two titans of Japanese and American cinema grapple in Godzilla vs Kong, the best film in Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse series and a lightweight but satisfying spectacle. The characters are thinly-written but carried by their actors’ charisma, and Kong is developed as a sympathetic, dignified character alongside the humans. Kong has a moving bond with a deaf girl named Jia (Kaylee
Hottle), and his journey pays tribute to several iconic moments in the Kong franchise, while Godzilla is legitimately scary for the
first time in the Monsterverse series. The monster battles are enthralling, with a clear sense of geography, scale and the creatures’ strengths and limits, and the climactic neon-drenched fight in Hong Kong is visually stunning. Some would argue that a monster blockbuster doesn’t need an engaging plot or characters, but the best examples anchor their monster mashes around a solid human foundation. Gamera 2: Attack of Legion (1996) has incredibly deep characters. Godzilla 1985 (1984) is a tense Cold War thriller. Shin Godzilla (2016) is a witty
satire of bureaucracy. Godzilla vs Kong’s pacing is swift and never boring, but makes a couple of disorienting jumps ahead. The villains are bland and the main characters are motivated by an extremely vague quest for an ancient power source (and the literal “Hollow Earth” setting demands too great a suspension of disbelief even for a movie with a skyscraper-sized gorilla). Godzilla vs Kong doesn’t quite hit the narrative mark, but it’s still an explosively entertaining thrill-ride. - Seth Lukas Hynes

The unlikely tandem tallied upwards of $30,000 from their family Christmas photos and then selected four charities to each receive
$8400 to help make the lives of children better. The four recipients of the funds included: Backpacks 4 Vic Kids, A Better Life For Foster Kids, HeartKids and Chum Creek’s Good Life Farm. The organisations shared how the funds had already been put to good use. Backpacks 4 Vic Kids CEO and founder Sally Beard told Star Mail the donation came as a “delightful surprise”.
“We’re very, very grateful on behalf of the children, whose lives that it will impact,” she said. “We have absolutely put that money to good use.” Ms Beard shared that the $8400 donation from Branded is aiding 112 children in need with care packs filled with toiletries, spare changes of clothes, a toy and more. New life through death Some years ago in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, USA, at a time when African Americans were legally and forcefully unable to have equal rights with the white population, a multiethnic group of Christians gathered to pray that freedom would come. However for Christians and anyone who follows Jesus, Easter holds so much to be grateful for. Yes if you read the account of Jesus’ life leading up to His crucifixion in the Gospel of

A sticky situation I drove my sick husband, who is almost totally blind- and in his 70s, he has less than 10% vision in one eye only and no vision in the other eye, to have lunch at The Grand Hotel last Friday, March 19th as a special treat for him. After our lovely lunch, we were walking back to our car, which I had parked behind the IGA in the car park area. I quickly stopped to buy some meat in the shop called The Beef Joint, and placed my husband to wait for me safely, on a green metal curved seat outside the butcher shop, while I did my quick shop, so he wasn’t taking up unnecessary space, due to Covid precautions, inside the shop. When I came back to collect him and walk him back to our car, I noticed he had a huge amount of bluish coloured sticky chewing gum stuck to the back of his trouser legs. This was not there before. I was so angry for him; he does not need this indignity. He is already suffering enough being on Cancer treatment too. All I can say is that I hope the “person” who deposited that wad of chewing gum on the seat, has KARMA come to them, too. I was so angry all the way home and almost wrote something straight away but decided to wait until I had cooled down. So, today, I am writing this and hope that it can be published , as the one who did this needs to know what they have done and its effect on innocent people, like my poor husband. I lived in Warburton from 1939 to 1980 so I can remember the names given by Ray Dafter in his article. I have a niece who lives in Griffords Road and sends me the copies of the Star Mail each week. Double flags in one day By Jed Lanyon It was a special occasion for Launching Place Cricket Club as members celebrated two premiership victories at the same time between the men’s and women’s senior teams on Sunday 14 March. Poor weather conditions on the Saturday forced the men’s game to be played the following day causing the overlap in fixtures between the teams. The men’s team travelled to Yarra Glen to contest for the RDCA’s R.A Finger Trophy with Yarra Glen having previously beaten Launching Place in all three of their encounters during the season. Yarra Glen elected to bat and completed the innings with a score of 141 with Michael Young taing two wickets with his first two balls in the eighth over being a highlight, while 13 year old Tony Biddiscombe took two catches and assisted on a runout. Set for 142, Launching Place opening batsmen Matt McConnell and Adam Johnson set to work and after 18 overs managed 0/53. Just under the required run rate but with 10 wickets to spare. The wickets started falling from there and with eight overs to go, Launching Place needed 35 runs to break a 24 year premiership drought. Johnson completed his half-century which required him to retire, just three runs short of victory with two overs remaining. Ben Owen and Stuart Parker saw the game out and helped Launching Place win the premiership with Johnson being named player of the match. Three in a row for Ranges U19 girls By Jed Lanyon The Eastern Ranges Under 19 Girls earned a 49 point victory against the Sandringham Dragons on Saturday 27 March. The Ranges got off to a slow start as they were held scoreless by the Dragons in the first term trailing by 8 in wet conditions. From there, the Ranges kicked three goals in each of the following quarters while holding their opponents goalless in an impressive defensive display. Georgia Wilson was named best on ground kicking four goals, while Alyssia Pisano added another three goals to remain on top of the NAB League’s goal kicking leaderboard. Pisano credited her teammates for her impressive performance. “It’s always good to get goals, but the team really stepped up and that’s what causes those goals to happen, so it’s really
the team’s doing,” she said. The 15 year old spoke about being a standout in the Under 19s competition. “It’s always good playing against the older girls. I think it’s good for my development. It gets you used to playing against older girls and stronger girls to see how you improve.” Jess Vukic and Samantha Goldie made their debut for the club with the former taking on backup ruck duties, while pushing forward late to kick a goal in her first game. Winners are grinners on the bowls green Yarra Junction Bowling Club Two great Section finals wins for Yarra Junction Bowling Club last week means promotion to division 4 for next season for the Yarra Junction 1 team and participation in division 5 quarterfinals commencing this week. Yarra Junction 1 travelled to Ringwood to play a familiar opponent from Croydon on a very heavy grass green. Yarra Junction were overall winners 66 shots - 55. Two rinks suffered narrow defeats but the third brought home a very strong win. The challenge this week is the division quarter final against Brighton Beach 1 to be played at Glen Waverley on Tuesday. The Sixers travelled to Ferntree Gully where they played Templestowe on a very tricky surface. After 30 ends, scores were tied at 28 shots each and Yarra Junction won both of the tie-breaker ends for an overall 4 shot win. Great result in a cliff-hanger. The 6 aside team has scored top position in both the spring and summer competition this season, a wonderful achievement. 14 MAIL

Friday night drew a small but enthusiastic group of players to enjoy the final night of barefoot bowls for the season. The club has seen the best turnout ever on BFB nights this year and sincerely thank the community for supporting such a great event. The Warburton 2 side played Ashburton 2 at Mooroolbark and managed to hold off a strong comeback from the opposition to win overall 84 shots to 70. Rink scores were as follows: S. Freestone 24/ 18; P. Summers 22/ 17; T. Heyward 15/ 25
and G. Wynd 23/ 10. The Midweek Warburton 1 side played Chirnside Park B.C. 1 at home in the Sectional Semi Final and led all throughout to win, 56 shots to 43. Rink scores were as follows: G. Walsh 14/ 17; P. Woods 21/ 17 and S. Lord 21/ 9. The game was played in great spirit by both sides. The Burras played in the Sectional Final on Thursday against Heathmont 2 at Mitcham B.C. The Midweek Final was a tight contest until Heathmont 2 scored a couple of big ends to come from behind and win by 3 shots, 54 to 57. Rink scores were as follows: G. Walsh 18/ 27; P. Woods 24/ 13 and S. Lord 12/ 17. Despite not winning, it was another fine season by the Burras. Cricket has brought all of us together and even though our ages vary from 13 to over 50 we all have a great time together in the supportive environment that Launching Place United Cricket Club has created. “We have players travelling from as far as Geelong each week to play for our team. It has always been a great family club and any players, female or male of any age would be welcomed into one of our junior or senior teams.”
Golfers in fine form Warburton Golf Club On the last night of Twilight golf before next week’s big shootout, positions in the final Top 10 were on the line. Steuart Hawke cemented his position, with a superb 22 points. Steuart is in fine form at the moment because he backed-up that effort with a meritorious win in Masters Pennant the following day. The Twilight runner-up was Sam Dennis with 21 points. Balls only extended to 19, NTP’s went to Flynn Cousens (10th), “Kenno” Kennedy (12th) and to Steve Wyatt (15th). The Top 10 to contest the Shootout next Thursday are: Geoff Fall, Neil Leckenby, Lynda Dickson, Roger Mataele, Steuart Hawke, Simon Spenceley, Jeff Gill, Rob Hendy, Ash Hall and Peter Fox. A full report on the Shootout final day will be published the week after Easter. On a cold, and at times, wet Saturday, a small field contested this event, with some very impressive scores coming through for Stableford. The most impressive on the day was from Lance Atwell, with 39 solid points. Trevor Porter snared the runner-up position with 37 points. Incredibly, the ball rundown extended to a lowly 32 points. NTP winners on the day were Peter Fox (3rd and 9th), Ray Gilmore (5th), Ken White (12th) and David Lever (15th). - Ron Hottes Healesville Social Golf Club Sunday saw a great turnout with a pleasant cool day for golf. Laurie Tormey (15) showed his style again hitting 83 off the stick for a net 68 to take first place on countback with Ken Arnott (16) also with a 68. Greg Urquhart (13) came third with a net 70. Nearest the Pins were hit by Shane O’Brien, Tony Druit, Karl Hradsky and Peter Mathieson while Karl also managed to hit the Longest Drive on the 14th hole.
