Dazed drug driver By CAM LUCADOU-WELLS A DRUG-DRIVER was found barely conscious behind the wheel after being involved in a bingle on South Gippsland Highway, Cranbourne. Matthew Ross, 24, of Noble Park, had told police at the time he had had a “big win at the pokies” the night before, but couldn’t remember how drugs were in his system, why his girlfriend wasn’t driving the car or anything about the crash. He pleaded guilty to driving with an illegal amount of amphetamine in his blood at a mention hearing at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Monday. Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Renee Bloomfield told the court Ross’s car crashed into the rear of another vehicle as it approached the Lynbrook Boulevard intersection early daylight on 11 September. The other driver found Ross slumped over the steering wheel and was unable to rouse him. Ambulance officers described Ross as dazed, incoherent and “unsteady on his feet”, and had to lead him to the waiting ambulance. On Monday, Ross also pleaded guilty to using and possessing a container of the liquid drug GHB at Empire nightclub in Narre Warren on 26 July, and failing to answer bail. He was also in breach
of a one-month suspended sentence and two community corrections orders over drug-related offending. Defence lawyer Damian McNally argued there were “exceptional circumstances” for Ross to escape the suspended jail term, including a 54-day pre-sentence detention - on unrelated and withdrawn charges in May 2014. Ross had completed his unpaid work, mental health treatment and drug and financial counselling requirements as part of the CCOs, the court was told. Mr McNally said Ross had limited himself to cannabis use and not used ice for several months. The accused had also been shaken by a close friend’s death-by-firearm in April and found a stable private rental home after “years of erratic residence”. Magistrate Greg Connellan said Ross’s “invalid” detention may be an “exceptional circumstance” but deferred the issue until 17 August. “The court has to take into account pre-sentence detention that has not been recognised. “My gut feeling is to defer sentencing and see where we go with the CCO (which ends in five months).” In the meantime, Ross was disqualified from driving for six months on the drug-driving charge.

Cranbourne East Primary School Year 6 teacher Nye Williams said the band had every child engaged in the performance. “They were able to get the kids up and dancing - not many people can entertain a thousand kids for 45 minutes and not have them un-captivated for a minute,” Mr Williams said. It was the first time the band had performed at the school and Mr Williams said the showmanship was refined. “You don’t see a lot of kids’ performances like that,” he said. The whole school event

A MAN stands accused of a violent rampage that forced terrified staff in a Department of Human Services residential unit to lock themselves away in a room on Sunday. At a court hearing on Monday, the 19-year-old was refused bail over charges of threatening to kill, assault, criminal damage and trespass. Police informant First Constable Jessica Notman told the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court bail hearing that the man, who had been living in the Cranbourne unit up until four days before the incident, broke in through the unit’s garage about 3pm. The applicant had earlier been refused entry and yelled abuse, threat-

The court was told the applicant’s parents had an intervention order against the applicant, who had allegedly claimed to have smoked 150 bongs in a day and had an issue with synthetic cannabis. “The (bail) applicant has stated he’d do it all again - that’s my main concern.” The applicant had been on bail at the time over similar charges at the same unit in October, and a different unit in July, but had no prior convictions. ability accommodation would be found this week. Magistrate Pauline Spencer told the applicant he could not be released on bail until suitable accommodation was found. She said the violence was “situational” and didn’t think the applicant would “carry through” with his threats. She said the applicant’s “instable” medication had to be managed, and he required properly trained disability workers at his future residence. “Every time you mouth off and threaten people, you’re burning a place to live. “You’re running out of places.” The applicant replied: “I’ll try my hardest… I’ll start taking my meds.”
Industrial zone too close to home, say residents By CASEY NEILL A CRANBOURNE West industrial area the size of 70 MCG ovals could soon be rezoned for housing. The Cranbourne West Precinct Structure Plan zoned a 2.5 kilometre by 800 metre parcel along Westernport Highway as industrial land. More than 730 people from the neighbouring 900 properties have signed a petition, asking for it to be rezoned residential, concerned about trucks and warehouses so close to their homes. City of Casey councillor Garry Rowe and other council officials will meet Planning Minister Richard Wynne on 3 June to ask him to amend the zoning or allow the council to make the change. “The Labor Party in the pre-election policies said that they would listen to the communities in relation to planning matters,” Cr Rowe said. “I don’t think you can get a much clearer statement than 738 signatures on a petition. “Those people bought in there without any existence of the industrial land. You’re talking about the biggest investment of their life.” He said the council had identified alternative land appropriate for industrial zoning and existing commercial areas ready for development. “We’re not going to lose jobs out of Casey,” he said. “What we’re going to do is hopefully gain a new iconic suburb that will complement those subdivisions around it.” Cr Rowe said sales in the abutting estates had declined since word about the neighbouring industrial zone spread, and that industrial sales had been unsuccessful. Charged after destruction A CRANBOURNE man, believed to be under the influence of drugs, has been charged after he smashed all the windows at a rental property where he was staying and had to be subdued by police using riot shields. Police were called to the Cranbourne rental around 9pm on Wednesday 12 May where the 43-year-old tenant had allegedly smashed all the windows and furniture at the property. But the officers were then forced to wait for the arrival of CFA crews after it was discovered the man had turned the gas on inside the house. Once the gas was turned off the police, including members of the Operations Response Unit, entered the property and subdued the man with riot shields. A Cranbourne police spokesman said it was believed the man was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. The man was arrested the following day after a brief stint in hospital and later charged with criminal damage. He was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court in August.
Cops chase down wanted man

Cr Rowe said about 300 residents attended an information meeting about the zoning in February. “Every one of them had no knowledge that that land was industrial and 80 per cent of them said they never would have bought there if it was industrial,” he said. A MAN wanted for months on a number of outstanding warrants was finally caught after he tried to flee police at the Springhill Shopping Centre on the weekend. The 24-year-old, wanted on several warrants in relation to drug and traffic offences, was chased by four policemen at the Cranbourne shopping centre as he tried to run away, but was soon arrested after a short chase and a scuffle outside the public toilets around 11am on Sunday 24 May. The man was expected to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court this week in relation to the warrants, as well as several offences alleged to have occurred while he tried to escape from police. These include threats to kill, two counts of criminal damage, unlawful assault, contravening conduct conditions, failing to answer bail and allegations he was in possession of stolen property when he was arrested. It’s understood the man frequented the Cranbourne North area but had no fixed address.

EMBATTLED South-Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Adem Somyurek has missed the first two Parliamentary sittings since being stood down as a cabinet minister on Saturday. Legislative Council president Bruce Atkinson told the house on Tuesday he had not spoken to the absent MP but had “read in the media” that the South-Eastern Metropolitan MP was ill. He said it would be a “contempt of the House” if Mr Somyurek was absent just to avoid scrutiny. The State Opposition revoked granting a “pair” for Mr Somyurek’s absence - which involves one Opposition member abstaining from voting - because he
hadn’t provided a medical certificate. Special Minister of State Gavin Jennings told Parliament on Tuesday Mr Somyurek - who was Small Business, Innovation and Trade Minister - retained his ministerial salary. There was an “expectation” Mr Somyurek wouldn’t use his Melbourne CBD ministerial office or ministerial car, Mr Jennings said. Mr Somyurek was absent from Tuesday and Wednesday’s sittings after being stood down on Saturday pending an “independent” investigation into alleged “intimidating, aggressive and threatening” workplace conduct. In a statement, he labelled the formal complaint

conducted by Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Chris Eccles. Mr Andrews, who has temporarily assumed Mr Somyurek’s portfolios, said that it would be decided at the end of the review by Mr Eccles or Ms Paul if the matter would be referred to police. “In the exercise of that duty of care it is my view, and I am sure it is the view of all members of this place, that every single Victorian worker should feel safe in their workplace. “I do hope that that can
be dealt with quickly, in weeks rather than months.” Opposition spokeswoman on scrutiny of government Inga Peulich said Mr Andrews had to answer the “hypocrisy” of hiring a withdrawn state election candidate accused of bullying. The former candidate Helen Constas is employed at Mr Andrews and Mr Jennings’s joint electorate office in Mulgrave. In a statement, Mr Somyurek said he welcomed the review and “the opportunity to clear my name”. In 2009, he received a suspended jail term for driving while disqualified. He did not respond to the News’s calls on Wednesday.

Terror charge teen an ‘unacceptable risk’ By LACHLAN MOORHEAD THE Hallam teenager charged in relation to a foiled Anzac Day terror plot has been denied bail. Sevdet Besim, 18, appeared at a bail application hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where Federal Police prosecutors argued he posed an unacceptable risk if released. The court heard the case against Besim focused on electronic communication between him and a 14-year-old in Britain, who was also arrested on terror charges last month. The informant told the court the two had discussed acquiring weapons and details of an alleged plot to
attack police at Anzac Day events in Melbourne, according to an ABC report. The court was also told an image swearing allegiance to the Islamic State was found on Besim’s phone, as well as a note he had written only hours before his arrest giving instructions on what to do in the event of his death. Besim came to the attention of authorities following the death of Numan Haider, who was shot dead after stabbing two police officers outside the Endeavour Hills police station last September, the court heard. It’s understood Besim’s name was on a list of Haider’s associates,
according to the ABC. Besim’s lawyer argued for bail because of his client’s age, lack of criminal record, and the fact he may spend up to 18 months in remand before trial. Besim and his co-accused, 18-year-old Harun Causevic, were among those arrested following predawn raids throughout Casey on 18 April after a tip-off from British police. They are both currently under protection at the Melbourne Remand Centre. The teenager was charged with importing more than 200 weapons, including AK-47 flick knives and tasers designed to look like iPhones.

Behind the headline THE report in the News headed ‘Rates set to rise by $62’ actually understates the the full impact of changes in Government Budget policies on Casey ratepayers. The recent State Government Budget included a substantial increase in the Fire Services Property Levy. The FSPL is collected by our councils and included in our Rates and Evaluation Notice. The State Government is shifting responsibility for financing the CFA/MFA budgets onto rate- payers. Despite the fact the it budgeted for a billion dollar budget surplus and that interest rates are now at an all-time low. When the Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas was in opposition he said the FSPL was a “botched” tax that needed to be reviewed. Now he is in Government he has increased this botched tax and imposed it on all ratepayer’s despite its discriminatory impact on property owners. The least Casey Council could do is inform ratepayers of any variations in taxes which it collects for the Victorian Government through its Draft Budget Plan. All businesses are required to inform the public of the amount of GST tax it collects for government. But it seems that councils think it is not their responsibility to make the FSPL fully transparent until we receive our Rates and Valuation Notice. In view of the fact that Casey Council is owed millions of dollars in unpaid rates, ignoring the FSPL and its impact on ratepayers is not really helpful for those ratepayers on a tight budget or for businesses and large landowners who will be hit hard by the FSPL. A RUSH of asylum seekers desperate to exercise newly-acquired work rights has descended on the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre’s Dandenong office. Manager Rosa Misitano said the office - funded through philanthropy - faces the challenge of getting 25 new weekly clients job-ready. She said there had been a recent surge of asylum seekers transferred from bridging visas to temporary protection visas - which has allowed them to work in Australia for the first time. The ASRC’s case workers help clients to create resumes, and learn the art of interviews, follow-up calls, and occupational health and safety. For many clients, they also must first attend classes for six months to improve their English-language skills. “They say ‘I’ve been here two years’ but we can’t put them forth to an employer if they need a translator,” Ms Misitano said. “You need your basics for (occupational) health and safety. “Employers want people who can follow instructions.” It’s hard to pull the reins on clients “excited and desperate” for work. In many cases, their lives have been in impoverished and unem-

In the past year, the resource centre has helped 37 clients gain their “first job in Australia”. “Some employers are wonderful,” Ms Misitano said. “They’re really interested in having someone loyal and willing to work hard.
“We get people quite qualified who are willing to take farm and factory work. They don’t leave after three weeks.” Volunteers from various workplaces have recently pitched in to help fast-track clients’ job-ready induction. Recently five staff from global IT
company Workday helped out with resume writing and job skills workshops. The ASRC are seeking volunteers experienced in Australian workplace culture as well as qualified English As A Second Language tutors. Details: dandenong@asrc.org.au

On Tuesday, the couple presented a high-quality camera, ink, paper and printer to St John of God’s hospital in Berwick to help other families capture memories of their stillborn children. The camera is engraved in dedication to the Rosario’s only daughter Amelia who died at birth two years ago. Amelia was cruelly struck with Patau syndrome - a genetic disorder that produces an extra copy of the 13th chromosome. Patau syndrome babies are struck with profound deformi-
ties and mental disability, and rarely survive beyond a year. “It’s like a fatal version of Down syndrome,” Cr Rosario said. At the time, a friend organised through charity Heartfelt for a professional photographer to go to their hospital bedside. The photographer captured beautiful images, which were compiled into an album of the family’s brief time together. Since then Renee has helped other families enduring the same heart-breaking diagnosis. She also fund-raised more than $1000 for the camera kit from Heartfelt, which organises voluntary professional photographers to capture a family with their stillbirth, premature or ter-
minally ill children. “It’s been pretty hard. We try to do something to make her memory mean something,” Cr Rosario said. He said St John of God was chosen as the beneficiary because it was originally the couple’s preferred maternity hospital. Amelia’s complications caused her birth to be shifted to Monash Medical Centre. By LACHLAN MOORHEAD THE Narre Warren Headspace was officially opened on Friday, after three years in the planning. The long-awaited Fountain Gate facility officially opened its doors last week and will join the Dandenong Headspace centre in providing mental health services to youths aged 12 to 25 in Melbourne’s south-east. The centre includes an Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC), and a Helping Young People Early (HYPE) service. Jake Downward, 18, and Monash Berwick Union president Dani Rothwell have been instrumental in pushing for the Narre Warren facility to be set up, a push which increased after a community summit on youth suicide was held at the City of Casey chambers and covered by the ABC’s Four Corners in 2012. Jake and Dani were joined by a host of local, state and federal politicians who attended the official opening, including Holt MP Anthony Byrne and La Trobe MP Jason Wood. After speaking to the crowd, Jake Downward spoke to the News about what it meant to him and the other Casey youths to finally have the Narre Warren centre up and running. “I think it was after about a year of Dandenong running it we realised, OK, Dandenong isn’t reaching out to enough people, it’s not reaching out to the people from Pakenham and Beaconsfield because no-one wanted to travel,” he said. “So myself, Dani Rothwell and a few others, we started pushing Anthony By-

The set-up of a Headspace facility at Fountain Gate Shopping Centre was confirmed last August following concerns aired by federal Labor that the Narre Warren rollout may be in jeopardy due to the Federal Government’s removal of Medicare Locals. But to ensure the next round of Headspace centres were established within the original timeframes, Medicare Locals selected to operate new centres where able to do so under an interim agreement.
WHEN he worked as a police officer at Knox, there was one thing Jason Wood found harder to do than anything else. Working at a time when Knox was experiencing high suicide rates, the La Trobe MP said there was nothing more difficult as a young officer than telling someone’s parents that their son or daughter had taken their own life. As he officially opened the new Headspace facility in Narre Warren last Friday, located near Fountain Gate Shopping Centre, Mr Wood recalled some of his most sobering moments while working as a policeman. “I don’t know how many suicide notes I’ve actually read and one of the saddest things about someone taking their own life, when it comes to a suicide note, is they believe they’re doing something good for everyone around them,” he told the guests. “In actual fact, it’s totally the reverse. “At the same time passing on a death message to a family, there’s pretty much nothing worse that you can do. “What can you say to someone
when their young son or daughter’s taken their own life? “And it’s one of those things as a police officer that you just hated doing but it was one of those jobs you needed to do.” But as he formally introduced the Narre Warren Headspace, and wrote a tribute message on the nearby wall, Jason congratulated the young people who had been instrumental in advocating for the new facility and said it was a great step forward, three years after a community summit on youth suicide was convened by Holt MP Anthony Byrne at the City of Casey chambers and covered by the ABC’s Four Corners. “The great news is that we now have a Headspace here in Fountain Gate and we have very caring and compassionate people here from the youth advisory committee,” Mr Wood said. “We need to do something about this and to me this is a great start. “It’s great to see so many young people here today.” Those in need of immediate assistance, or who need to speak to someone they can trust, can phone Lifeline on 13 11 14.

LYNDHURST Secondary College put on a performing arts showcase for the entire community - with dancers, singers, bands and actors taking to the Cranbourne Community Theatre stage last week. The school’s performing arts co-ordinator, Catherine Blackburne said the showcase was the first time many students had walked into a theatre, let alone performed in front of a live audience. “The best part of the experience for the students is the feeling of achievement as they walk off the stage, for us as teachers it’s watching them conquer fears and grow into amazing performers,” she said. With an audience of about 200 people each night, Ms Blackburne said she had the best feedback yet for the annual event. “People said it was the best show we had done because of its variety,” she said. About 80 Year 7 to VCE students were a part of the showcase - on Wednesday 20 May and Friday 22 May - some even choreographing their own routines and performing songs they had written. “A group of Islanders sung some traditional songs and we had Bollywood dancers,” she said. Ice still menacing By LACHLAN MOORHEAD CRANBOURNE Police Sergeant Neil Herbert maintains the drug ice is a significant problem in Casey despite leaked government research suggesting its use is declining. The confidential federal government research indicated the use of ice had declined, according to a report in The Age this week. But drawing on his own experiences on the front lines, Sgt Herbert said the popularity of ice, a type of crystal methamphetamine, was continuing to rise in the Casey region. “In terms of statistics there are two schools of thought and I realise that,” he said. “Some people are saying recently that it’s been blown out of proportion, but anecdotally and also from looking at reporting and working the streets, it is a drug that is becoming more prevalent. “That’s my experience. I can’t quantify that with statistics. It’s a new drug and it’s a drug that when we do come across it, it has potentially devastating effects on people’s behaviour.” Sgt Herbert said uniform police were increasingly finding ice to be an influence in a range of different crimes. “Ice is more prevalent across the board in terms of family violence, street crime, violent offending and also instances that may have first come across as being a mental health incident but it actually relates to the use of ice,” he said. “People are violent, they can’t control their own behaviours, and it’s extremely addictive ... “I work with mental health representatives as well and they’re sug-

and in terms of emerging threats, they’ll come and go and change,” he said. Sgt Herbert said the terror allegations were centred on an “extreme minority”, and was not a reflection of Islam. “We’re aware that terrorism is now emerging in Australia, which hadn’t really been there previously, but in terms of concerns or stress, we look at the world slightly differently but it’s the same job at the end of the day,” Sgt Herbert said. After roughly 16 years as a cop -

CASEY police involved with a pilot program focused on robbery prevention hope the initiative is given the green light to continue. The Crime Prevention program, which focuses on homes and businesses and being trialled in Casey, Cardinia and Greater Dandenong, is set to end next month. Leading Senior Constable Brett Owen, a Crime Prevention officer based at Cranbourne, said the initiative had garnered great results and provided the community with reassurance. “Where a burglary occurs, we have that oneon-one contact with the victim,” he explained. “Seven days after the event we visit them and see how they’re going, because often being a victim of a burglary is somewhat distressing for some, they’ve been violated in their own personal space. “We can make referrals for them if they’re struggling with that. We also provide advice in relation to their own home security, what measures they can put in place to improve security and try to prevent them becoming a victim again.” Officers also touch base with victims again 30 days after a robbery. Acting Sergeant Dave Smith is another member of the station’s pro-active unit working specifically with young offenders, helping them link with support services. “It’s an issue for the whole organisation, youth crime, there’s no doubt,” he said. “We know that young people make up about 20 per cent of the population but they account for about 50 per cent of the crime, that 12 to 25 age group. “Casey has a high youth population and as a result we have those associated issues that we need to deal with.” These support services include referrals to youth workers and drug and alcohol networks. Acting Sgt Smith said young offenders needed to want to be helped but that he and his colleagues never turn their back on anyone, even if there were roadblocks along the way. “We don’t give up. If we see the same name again, we’ll do the same thing, and keep doing it and keep encouraging them to take up the offer,” he said.

Project to fight terror By CAM LUCADOU-WELLS A ’HACKATHON’ project will be set up in Melbourne’s southeast to help deter young Muslims from violent extremism. The area has been identified as a hotspot for action after radicalised teenager Numan Haider was shot dead by police outside Endeavour Hills Police Station and fellow Lyndale Secondary College student Irfaan Hussein was reportedly killed in Syria fighting for Islamic State. The MYHACK hackathon is the brainchild of anti-terrorism academic Dr Anne Aly and is backed by LaTrobe federal
MP Jason Wood. It will challenge teams of young people of Muslim and non-Muslim backgrounds to come up with solutions to stop youths being lured into Daesh, otherwise called Islamic State. Mr Wood has called for more action on the issue of radicalised youth from Islamic community leaders. “By all account leaders of Islamic communities in Australia are doing their best to discourage this kind of involvement, but much like how people also argue that it’s a parents’ responsibility to guide their children away
from drugs, sometimes things happen right under their noses which they’re unaware of.” He said he liked the MYHACK “concept of youth being the agents of change for their own generation”. “At least four ideas will come out of it which will then be turned in to practical measures,” he said. Islamic Council of Victoria secretary Seyfi Seyit said he needed to find out more about the hackathon. “I’m sceptical about those types of ideas. It’s crucial it has the right framework, otherwise
it’s just an experiment without sustainability.” He said the “real solution” lay in strengthening social cohesion. Mr Seyit said many young Muslims felt “this society doesn’t really accept them”; of them a tiny minority” were being radicalised. He said factors included mental health, family breakdown, unease with the Syrian conflict, rising Islamophobia and the IS propaganda machine. He labelled the IS online campaign as “very clever marketing” and “very effective for a small percentage of young impressionable
people”. “Some of these young people think it’s cool to be keyboard warriors. “It’s a chance for them to vent their anger. “Face to face, they are shy and unable to express themselves. Behind a keyboard they get into arguments - it’s a feeling of empowerment, a type of euphoria.” He said the Muslim community needed to take leadership to support their youth. “As a community, they don’t know where to start. They’re overwhelmed, these young people are popping out of the blue.”

macist, said she didn’t mind contributing a little of her superannuation, though her like-minded husband often prods her to give more. “It seems unbelievable that Australia doesn’t protect refugees, doesn’t welcome them and then tries to make their life as hard as possible. Without government funding, Friends of Refugees relies on volunteers and donors. The group needs sewing machines, laptops, lawn movers and whipper snippers as well as volunteers to teach asylum seekers to fix mowers. In Brief Servo charges FOUR teenagers have been arrested following 15 armed robberies on service stations in Casey and Dandenong in which $30,000 worth of cash and cigarettes were taken. The teens, all 17, were arrested on Friday. In each of the robberies, which started in mid-January, the raiders stormed the petrol station armed with knives and metal poles, jumped the counters and threatened staff. The alleged offenders are expected to front the Melbourne Children’s Court in early June. And police are searching for another man who was involved in an armed robbery at a Hampton Park service station on 8 March.

Scouts deny being target By LACHLAN MOORHEAD THE District Commissioner for Scouts in Casey has denied there is an upward trend in Scout hall break-ins despite a third hall in the region being ransacked in as many months. The Hallam Scout Hall, on Gunns Road, was broken into around 7pm on Monday 11 May with thieves setting off a fire extinguisher inside the building. It comes as the News earlier this month reported break-ins and copper piping thefts had occurred at the Cranbourne and Devon Meadows Scout Halls in recent weeks. Casey District Commissioner Mick Adams said he’d only heard of four Scout hall break-ins in his eight years serving in the role, all of which occurred in the last 12 months or so. “That’s not to say it hasn’t happened and people haven’t told me,” he said. “Is there a trend? I couldn’t with any honesty say to you there’s a trend.” He said Scout halls were no more a target than any other community or sporting facility. “We’re no different to any group, some people get it in their minds that they’re going to do something, whether it’s a church, a Scout hall or a foot-
ball pavilion, the opportunity presents itself. “There just happens to be a bit of mischief in this recent Scouting calendar.” Police have confirmed the theft of copper piping is prevalent in Casey, and Mr Adams urged Scouting groups to look at replacing their existing structures with plastic where possible. Earlier this month Casey Council resolved to look into the viability of having CCTV cameras set up at the Cranbourne Scout Hall on the South Gippsland Highway, as well as new locks and doors installed following recent incidents. President of the First Cranbourne Scouts committee Jenni Walden said vandalism at the hall had increased since Christmas, while also voicing fears for the children’s safety after syringes and bongs were repeatedly found scattered near the building. She also said a Scout leader’s car was damaged a week before Easter by a raider who broke into the grounds while the children were having a sleepover inside the hall. “It’s disturbing given kids are in the hall at times,” she told the News. “This time of year it’s dark early and we don’t want kids going out in the backyard but we don’t want them to be restricted.”

A TOUR of the Aboriginal sites of significance throughout Greater Dandenong and Casey revealed the past and what is buried below but also enlightened those present on what Aboriginal people want for tomorrow. The Inter-Council Aboriginal Consultative (ICAC) organised the tour for councillors and Aboriginal community members with the hope of spreading what they learnt throughout the community. Aboriginal singer songwriter Kutcha Edwards hosted the tour and spoke about his vision for the future. “It’s not about an us and them mentality, it’s about a collective mindset for a better tomorrow,” Mr Edwards said. The tour stopped at the Dandenong Police Paddocks, Hampton Park renewal project, Lynbrook Estate and the Dandenong Pultney Street Park. The group of 22 looked at scar trees and listened to talks from Wurundjeri Land Council representative Jemima Gardiner, archaeologist Mandy Nicholson and Dandenong and District Aborigines Co-operative executive officer Andrew Gardiner. Ms Nicholson said the Lynbrook Estate was previously a swamp. “Before it was a farm it was a swamp, prolific in bird life with a lot of sand from Port Phillip bay, most of Cranbourne’s sand is beneath us here in Lynbrook,” she said. Ms Nicholson was working for the Wurundjeri Land Council and dug the Lynbrook area 17 years ago. “It’s about recording the history of the area and the different people that lived here,” she said. Greater Dandenong Mayor Sean O’Reilly said the tour had given him a new perspective on aboriginal culture. “I was born in 1971 and at school was taught a particular view of Aboriginal history that was largely about having pity upon the Aboriginal people, about what white man had done when they colonised Australia,” Cr O’Reilly said. “This experience has helped me to understand that the aboriginal people still don’t feel that they have been given the due respect as Australia’s first people,” he said. ICAC member and Casey Local Area Commander Inspector Paul Breen spoke to the group outlining why it was so important for him to attend. “As a local commander I have to get my head around these complex issues because we often see drunken, homeless and drug affected Aboriginals and for me to be a better leader I need to be a part of these meetings,” Insp Breen said. The tour was held in the lead up to Reconciliation Week and provided participants with a greater knowledge of what Dandenong and Casey was once like and the exact locations of Aboriginal significance in their community. During the lunch break Mr Edwards held up his mobile phone and said “culture is about Aboriginal people holding this phone and talking to our mobs on it”. “We are an adapting people and we will always adapt to the environment we live or have been placed,” Mr Edwards said.

Store is the best in the business By CASEY NEILL NARRE Warren Autobarn has been named the franchise’s top store in Australia. Owner Gavin Sheedy collected the National Franchise Store of the Year award at Jupiter’s Casino on the Gold Coast on Friday 22 May. Mr Sheedy didn’t find out until the annual Autobarn dinner that his store was among five finalists for the honour, and was shocked to take home the prize. “I sent everyone a message to let them know, and through Facebook we announced it to our customers,� he said. “I was really stoked, it was a very emotional time for me, to be totally honest. “I’m very proud of myself and all my team.� Mr Sheedy has worked for Autobarn for 24 years and 16 years ago, with wife Nicole, took over Narre Warren. “I’d always worked in a store and then worked my way up to part-owning a store and then owning the store outright,� he said. “My father was one of the original Autobarn members, so I’m a second generation Autobarn store owner - there’s not heaps of those. “He’ll be pretty rapt.� Mr Sheedy said the award was great encouragement for him and his 18-member team.

The Cranbourne Business Network International (BNI) branch meets at 7am each Wednesday at The Settlement, Cranbourne. BNI is the largest business networking group in the world with 6600 active chapters and 170,000 members in 58 countries. It’s been in Australia for 15 years. Mechanic Ian Alphey joined the Cranbourne chapter about four years ago and is now its president. “We started our business just on five and a half years ago,� he said. “It helped build our business. We started our business from scratch. “It works really well. It’s all word of mouth. “We haven’t looked back since.� Mr Alphey has grown from being a sole proprietor to employing an apprentice, a mechanic, and two office staff. “The other businesses in the chapter have gone from strength to strength as well,� he said. “You never know who someone else knows. That’s where the referral base comes in.� He said referrals ranged from first tier - from one BNI member to another - to second tier - a BNI member to an outsider - and beyond.
“We’ve had third and fourth tier referrals where the word has been passed around,� he said. “We wouldn’t have gained that if we hadn’t been in the BNI. “Being surrounded by likeminded business people boosts your business as well.� Mr Alphey said members ranged from mortgage brokers to newsagents, insurers and lawn mowers. “It’s pretty diverse. There’s no business that wouldn’t benefit from it,� he said. “We see a lot of people come and go, where they may be in the group for 12 months and don’t see the returns in that time. “But it takes a little while for people to build trust.� Only one business from each category is allowed in each chapter. “You’re not competing against anyone else,� Mr Alphey said. “Some chapters around the country have waiting lists. “There’s quite a few other local groups that we can refer them to.� Mr Alphey said the breakfasts were structured according to an international formula. “It’s not just a case of turning up and doing a bit of networking,� he said. By CASEY NEILL BATMAN is on the run and was last seen in Pakenham. The Berwick pooch ran off on 16 April while his owners were visiting friends near Glasscocks Road, Narre Warren South. Michele Lecordier said her five-year-old pomeranian had since been spotted throughout Casey and Cardinia, most recently in the Lakeside estate. “The support we are having has just been tremendous,” she said. “People who’ve seen him say he looks very much older than his photo, and very tired. “He likes new houses because I think he gets some food from the builders. “He seems to be staying four days in each area.” Batman and his sister Robin have been part of the family since they were 12 months old. “The first day was awful to see. She didn’t want to get in
Batman with his sister, Robin. the car with me and she had tears in her eyes,” Ms Lecordier said. “My husband used to talk to Batman. He would listen with his eyes and put his paw on my husband’s heart or his arm. “If one of us was sick he’d cuddle with us.”
Batman is not wearing a collar but is microchipped. “He is very, very scared and when people call or whistle to him he runs away in the other direction,” Ms Lecordier said. She urged anyone who spotted Batman to call her on 0458 458 624.

Georgia’s twist of fate By JARROD POTTER GEORGIA Gourlay’s AFL Youth Girls National Championships campaign ... lasted 13 minutes. In one of those rare moments you’d have to see to believe, Gourlay ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her knee just from changing direction in pursuit of a West Australian midfielder. Not from pressure under a tackle or jarred after landing in a marking contest - just a simple turn to chase her opponent. That one insignificant and virtually miniscule moment in a match - the first of the carnival between last year’s grand finalists Vic Metro and West Australia earlier this month - will dictate the rest of Gourlay’s season and likely affect part of her 2016 as well. That seems an onerous burden for most footballers to comprehend, missing out on the joy of a grand final victory to watch from the sidelines, but that’s not how Cranbourne midfielder Gourlay, 16, wants to frame her accident and recuperation. “It was really random - I was running at a girl from West Australia basically on the side of the square,” Gourlay said. “She went to side-step me and the way she was side-stepping in the footage my right hip falls down and then you see my knee and my leg just collapse. “My knee and my leg go different ways and I was rolling on my back for a bit and a few of the girls tried to pick me up and I started screaming and put my hand up.” It could have been a sour note to tarnish the remainder of her Youth Girls campaign, but with four days left to support her team-mates and keep morale high - Gourlay took it upon herself

worst news possible. “It was a weird day on Friday - as before we left to go to the grand final I was told that I had done my ACL,” Gourlay said. “It was confirmed - and a few hours later the girls won the national championship so it was a pretty up and down day. “Went on from there and I think it was good on my behalf as I wasn’t emotional during the week and when I got told on the Friday I had a bit of a cry, but I had people around me and that didn’t really last long.”
“Was a bit weird watching them pull on their boots and I’m just sitting down kind of watching it all unfold. Gourlay had her knee surgery last Wednesday - repairing the ligament with a graft - and with the next Youth Girls campaign only a year away, there’s plenty for the Eagles’ gun to focus on as she begins her rehabilitative journey back to the football field. “That was a good thing as well so many people throughout the week were saying that I had to take the positives out of it and I did,” Gourlay said.
“It wasn’t my last carnival if it was I’d have been extremely down a lot more upset. “If all goes to plan, the first game of the National Championships should be the first game I come back and play in - it would be crazy, but everyone else said it would be good as I’m taking precautions and not coming back too early.” She’ll also have to sit out the South East Juniors season as her Cranbourne side hopes to go one better after losing back-to-back grand finals to Beaconsfield.
Cavs show how it’s done By JARROD POTTER WITHOUT a consistent roster, facing mounting injuries and constantly battling the biggest challengers in Big V’s Division 1 competition ... has not fazed Casey Cavaliers in recent rounds. A Saturday/Sunday double-header should challenge the depth and stamina of any roster, let alone a newly promoted side with two starting outs in Bevan Camilleri (ankle) and Matt Witherden (leg), but the Cavaliers just grit the teeth and got the job done. It seems a simple approach, but the Cavaliers aren’t complicating the set-up. With SEABL-experienced point guard Ben Louis entering the roster to give a chop-out to James Deneefe, Steve Michalski and Brad Szalek, the plan is starting to finally mesh for the Cavaliers. In a cakewalk, the Cavaliers smashed Melbourne Uni 90-61 on Saturday night - as Brent Hobba (31 points) had a field day - before facing the bigger challenge in Warrnambool on Sunday. While the Seahawks’ two imports Alexander Starling (15 points) and Tim Gainey (11 points) causing headaches at both ends, it was Cavaliers’ guard Deneefe (11 points, six assists) who stole the game with some early three-point magic. His three first-half treys created headaches for the Seahawks as they focused too much energy on guarding the key and not the outside threat wearing number 2. Deneefe and Ben Louis (eight points, seven
rebounds, seven assists) brought the tall timber into the match as well, dishing off 19 assists to four to run rings around the Seahawks. The guards set up a fourth-term surge - with Dean Johnson (15 points), Hobba (13 points) and Lester Strong (12 points) getting the job done under the hoop. “To beat a quality team on the back end of a double-header weekend was pretty satisfying for the whole group,” Casey coach Stewart Baird said. “Seven wins in a row and I don’t think we’ve had a full roster for any of them - we’ve had at least one injury ever time.” Alistair Parker and Sean Mckinnon showed the Youth League Men have the necessary talents to cut it in Division 1 with the handy tandem stepping in to give a chop-out to the injury ravaged D1 line-up. “The young guys that we’ve had to play up a couple of times have really stepped up,” Baird said. “They haven’t shied away from the challenge and we certainly tell them to play their natural game - that’s why they’ve been elevated.” Baird’s charges face Chelsea at home from 8pm on Saturday night in a battle of first-versussecond in Division 1’s Watson Conference. By a whisker, the Casey women were edged out as Melbourne Uni took a 61-60 win over the visiting Cavaliers.

Kara’s a Demon on the field By JARROD POTTER YOU could not imagine a better AFL outing for Kara Donnellan. Resuming her AFL career by donning the red-andblue for the third time in three years, Donnellan, 23, was Melbourne’s mightiest on Sunday at the MCG in the annual AFL Women’s clash between Melbourne and Western Bulldogs. She was first in under the packs, pushing aside all and sundry in her usual hard-edged attack on the footy. Claiming 23 possessions across the afternoon - equal highest on the ground alongside her skipper Daisy Pearce - Donnellan and her beloved Demons held on against the faster finishing Dogs to claim an eightpoint triumph and maintain a perfect 3-0 winning record. She might have to hold on to her jumper though and not give it to her six-year-old brother as she’s done many times before. This year’s guernsey holds extra gravitas because it might need to be framed alongside her AFL Women’s Match best on ground medal. Hearing her name called out and accepting her medal from AFL Commissioner Sam Mostyn remains a moment Donnellan can’t quite imagine as she didn’t think she was in the running for it. “I looked up at the screen - as they had the leading statsgetters up there - and saw my name was up there as the equal highest ... and didn’t realise I had 23 touches,” Donnellan said. “When they read out my name I was very shocked didn’t expect it at all, but it’s very humbling and an honour to win it. “Our team was fantastic and

She’ll never get accustomed to that journey onto the field, but once there the task at hand takes precedent. “You never really get used to it - it’s always a fantastic experience and moment when you run out onto the ‘G,” Donnellan said. “It’s the best sporting venue in the world so to have that opportunity is an absolute honour and privilege. “You don’t get much time to
soak it up though - you run out there, run your lap, get into your warm ups and then it’s on.” While she now calls West Australia home, and has even represented her adopted state, Donnellan remains one of the south-east’s greatest football exports as the former Narre Warren/Berwick footballer continues to soar in every facet of women’s football. She’ll take the field for WA in the State Women’s Game against Victoria at Subiaco on 5 June. Donnellan wanted to thank Melbourne Football Club for their continued support of the women’s game.
Doggies’ clash makes Katie’s day By JARROD POTTER PULLING on her beloved Bulldogs jersey once again, midfielder Katie Loynes completed a full circle journey on Sunday as she returned to football’s top ranks. After 18 months spent rehabilitating knee and ankle injuries, Loynes, 29, originally from Berwick, got to live out her football dream once more - running out onto the MCG to play in the AFL. She has risen through the local ranks from Berwick Women’s Football Club all the way to the premier standard and Loynes savoured every moment of her second chance football journey. The Lyndhurst Secondary College teacher traded marking assignments for marking opposition as she roamed the MCG for the second time in her football career. Preparing for her longawaited return to the AFL - including publicity shots of her and other players on top of one of the MCG stands - Loynes was elated to be back in the spotlight for women’s football and resume her AFL career. But the lure of spotlights and the grand atmosphere only took Loynes’ attention briefly. Once the match started, she was focused only on the task at hand - trying to knock off Melbourne for the first time. “I absolutely loved it - just getting ready, with the whole preparation for the match ... I definitely thought it was a big thrill,” Loynes said. “Running out onto the ground always takes you back a bit, but once the ball bounces you forget about the surroundings and you’re focused on doing your role for the team.” Craig Starcevich joined the Bulldogs as head coach as well as a number of experienced players up and down the field to make the second time around more cohesive for Loynes, with every player buying into the

Picture: WHITE LINE IMAGES belief they could defeat the Demons. “I thought our new coach Craig Starcevich was excellent,” Loynes said. “The way the girls gelled together- there was a lot of belief - we had great leaders in all lines, Hutchins and Steph Chiocci being captain and Emma Kearney through midfield, which was great to have the belief that we could definitely win.” But despite good preparations and buoyant confidence, the Western Bulldogs could not seize their chances late in the game to push ahead as Melbourne took an eight-point victory. Loynes thought it boiled down to the age-old football problem; wasted opportunities. “Both sides missed a lot of opportunities - we had most of the possession in our forward-50, but couldn’t capitalise on those chances,” Loynes said. “We didn’t kick those running shots on goal and our missed chances in the final stages as well.” She remains confident ahead of the second AFL match, scheduled for later this year, that the Dogs can get the job done in its fourth attempt and finally sing the song. “I think the most important thing is that we’ll keep most of the girls together - we can really look at this game and played
and improve on a lot of things,” Loynes said. “That’s probably the best thing and hopefully improves things for the following match.” Women’s football received a ringing endorsement earlier this year from AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan as he set a tentative deadline for the Women’s AFL competition by 2017. Loynes believes the AFL Women’s match - and increasing public awareness - will be the best springboard for increasing numbers to help make the league as strong as possible. “Gillon has been a massive supporter of us - he came down to both rooms and congratulated us on what a wonderful game it was,” Loynes said. “Not just him speaking about it in the press, but all the newspapers have generated a lot more appeal for it. “There was a heap of publicity with it being in the HeraldSun the last three or four days before the match. “At the moment we’re probably a little short on the number of participants - if that can increased then 2017 is definitely a possibility.” A second AFL Women’s match this year is scheduled for Sunday 16 August ahead of the round 20 Dogs-Demons clash at Etihad Stadium and will be televised on Channel 7.

Game goes down to the wire By JARROD POTTER AFL UNDER-18 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - ROUND 1 COMING down to the wire, Vic Country snuffed out Vic Metro’s winning chances in a five-point thriller at Simonds Stadium. Kicking off the Under-18 National Championships in fittingly, aggressive style, not much split the metro and country combatants until the final few seconds. In the last moments, Dandenong defender Jacob Weitering roosted the ball long to an amassed forward-pack. It spilled out to the crumbers and coming out of the chaos was Gippsland’s Ben Ainsworth - who hit Jye Simpkin lace out as the siren sounded. Simpkin went back and slotted the match winner to give Vic Country the early bragging rights in the under-18 championships. The highly-touted Vic Country brigade traded blows with their metro counterparts in a back-and-forth spectacular.

Scorpions regain sting By JARROD POTTER VFL - ROUND 6 THERE is no better way to head into the bye than with a late-game surge as Casey Scorpions showed on Saturday night against Richmond VFL. With a balmy day turning into a chilly evening at Casey Fields - following the South East Football Netball League’s double-header interleague clash against Sunraysia FNL - the last match on the card proved to be a belter as the Scorpions rallied to knock off the hard-hitting Tigers by 44 points. Don’t let the final scorecard fool you though - it was a match in the balance until Casey broke free in the last 15 minutes. Casey had to toil throughout the night in the slippery dew-heavy conditions as it could never quite attain a stranglehold on the match. Richmond fought back through the third term to cut the deficit to 14 at the final change, with former Beaconsfield player Jake Aarts (two goals) hitting the scoreboard. Coach Justin Plapp implored his charges at the final break to focus on their “blue collar” roots crack in, get the hard ball and muscle their way to victory. He would’ve been nervous up in the dimly lit coaches box as the Tigers went on an early rampage. The visitors brought the margin back to nine points in the opening minutes of the last term, but from there it was all one-way traffic as Casey relished the hard ball.
The likes of Eddie Morris, Will Petropoulos and Dean Terlich ran through walls to set up the Scorpions’ deadliest counterattack. Goals to Tim Smith, Bayley Fritch and Petropoulos expanded the gap before Gawn finished the job with two late majors in the 15.13 (103) to 8.11 (59) victory. Dean Terlich proved his chops as he patrolled the defensive end ably while Alex Neal-Bullen, Viv Michie, Mitch White and Max Gawn all raised a hand for AFL selection. Jack Hutchins was the best of the VFL-listed players - roaming the back line in tandem with Oscar Mcdonald to keep the pill away from Richmond. Hallam stages an NRL first By JARROD POTTER IT WAS a hectic day for Hallam Senior College’s rugby league side on Wednesday as it flew to Sydney, almost stole the upset GIO CUP victory over Matraville Sports High and flew back to Melbourne with a lot of confidence in the carry-on luggage. Erskineville Oval in Sydney was the scene of a major turning point in Australian rugby league history - the first time a Victorian school played in the NRL schoolboys’ competition. Up and back in a single day, with a hard-fought game in between, Hallam took the field for the first battle in its maiden GIO Schoolboys Cup campaign and fell 28-34 despite a strong start. Matraville fired back to take the lead and hold on, despite a gallant three try effort in the dying minutes from Hallam. Two contentious disallowed tries could have pushed Hallam into the lead, but it wasn’t meant to be to take a debut win in its first match. Coach Jamie Fardell said the loss still showed the capability of the roster and most importantly, that Hallam is at the standard necessary for the cup.
“It was really good to see that we are at that level,” Fardell said. “The boys bought into it and were extremely proud to be the first ones representing us and being on that stage. “You have it in your head that you think you’re at that standard, but to see it happen after all this time and effort it was definitely pleasing.” Fardell praised John Sauni in his first Hallam match for his hit-ups and try-scoring efforts, along with Tokorima Metua and skipper Jake Johan for their impressive feats in the inaugural GIO Cup clash. The second fixture in Hallam’s GIO Cup campaign will be 15 June in Melbourne - either at Gosch’s Paddock or on AAMI Park. “Next two games will be pretty tough,” Fardell said. “They’re two of the top four teams in the country and we’ll see how we go against the best around.” Applications are open for Hallam Sports Academy with an Information Night next Monday 1 June and an Open Day on 3 June. SEFNL’s best is yet to come By DAVID NAGEL IT’S taken four-long years, and under different guises, but the South East Football Netball League (SEFNL) is now top-10 in the state after a 51-point victory over Sunraysia at Casey Fields. The Worksafe Country Championship win made it four on the trot for the Demons, the first three as the Casey Cardinia Football League before a name change last year. Ranked 17 by the Victorian Country Football League (VCFL) in 2012, the Demons have climbed to 10th with victories over Nepean, Wimmera, Bellarine, and now Sunraysia. Coach Michael ‘Jock’ Holland is confident his side can advance to the pointy end of the rankings with a successful trip to the Murray League next year. “It is satisfying but I think we can go further,” Holland said after the match. “I think we can get into the top five or six, but we need everyone to commit and I think we’ve created a culture that seems to be working right now. It does mean something for these players to play interleague, they’re not just throwing a jumper on for a game of footy, and I think they showed that today.” SEFNL weathered an early storm from Sunraysia, before breaking the game open with eight of nine goals, either side of quarter time. Pakenham’s Jake Smith was electric early, kicking the Demons’ first three goals on his way to five on his interleague debut. Doveton’s Russell Gabriel was outstanding in the ruck, while a backline led by Pakenham’s Nathan Brown, Cranbourne’s Brandon Osborne, Beaconsfield’s Daniel Battaglin, and Berwick pair, Michael Johnson and Michael Riseley, gelled like they’d been playing together for years. By DAVID NAGEL SOME significant questions will be answered when the South East Football Netball League resumes its home-and-away season this weekend. The week off for interleague football gave coaches a chance to sit back and evaluate the highs and lows of the season to date. The only man with no lows to evaluate was Pakenham coach Steve O’Bryan, his undefeated Lions set to face a stiff test when they travel to Robinson Oval on Saturday to take on second-placed Doveton. Steve O’Bryan and his boys are testing sides defensively this year, scoring 120 points per game, six goals better than the Doves on 85. So where is that danger coming from? Jake Smith has been a revelation, the smallforward booting 16 of the finest, while fullforward Daniel Fry has played his part with 12. O’Bryan and Jason Fisher provide midsized options with seven, while Jason Williams and midfielder Russell Lehman have slotted six apiece. That’s a plethora of scoring options that the Doves will need to repel. Russell Gabriel should dominate the ruck for the Doves, but ground level players like Jordan Temopoulos, Ryan Morrison, Phil Nanfra, Mitch Viney and Shannon Henwood will need to capitalise if the home side is to prevail. This is a tricky assignment for the Lions, the Doves would have set themselves for this one, and the 18 and 14 point margins from last year would suggest the Doves match up pretty well. But it’s the Lions by 11 points.

ROC needs a win against one of the bigfive to get its season back on track, and there’s no greater opportunity than right now, against Beaconsfield at Starling Road. To win, the Kangas need to defeat a very consistent football team, with a couple of superstars thrown in, who need to play with real intensity to elevate itself to the next level. Players like Jesse Linkins, Brad Hollick, Ben Kerrigan, Damien Szwaja and Josh Dodsworth have all lived in the shadows of Scott Meyer and Daniel Mislicki in the past, but are equally as important in getting the job done. The Eagles will get home by 15 points. Berwick will be far too good for Tooradin at Edwin Flack Reserve, while Cranbourne should welcome a star or two back and win comfortably against Hampton Park at Casey Fields.
IT MAY sit in third last place on the ladder, but Berwick is still confident it can put its best foot forward for the remainder of the South East Netball League season. The Wickers are in unfamiliar territory right now, a team that has completed the last three home-and-away seasons in second, first and fourth placing, is languishing, but showed its best form is just around the corner with a strong showing against premiership favourite Hampton Park last start. The Wickers’ roller-coaster start to the season (loss-win-loss-win-loss) would suggest some inconsistencies, but coach Melissa Ahearn believes the game against the Redbacks will give her side some real confidence moving forward, starting with this week’s game against Tooradin. “I was full of positives after the match,” Ahearn said. “We all brought our best game and showed what we can do when we apply pressure, create turnovers, and really work together as a team. We didn’t finish it off, but now we know if we play our game, and play it strong, we can still do it.” The Wickers will be too good for the Seagulls at home. Doveton will be looking to square the ledger at three-three this season when it welcomes Pakenham to Robinson Oval. And with Kate Murphy, Aila Pera, Aggie Seeto and Cara Humbert all in good form, it will achieve that with a five-goal win. ROC’s defensive structures will need to hold firm if the Kangaroos are to defeat Beaconsfield at Starling Road. Both teams are scoring 38 goals per game this season, but the Kangaroos defence, led by Laura Quinn, Mel Overdyk and Sophie Tracey, is giving away just 34 goals, eight better than Beacy on 42. But it’s Beacy in a thriller!
