Hydes meet Bachelor Blake By JONATHON HOWARD THE Bachelor TV series has become the talk of Noosa this week, as local bachelorette Lisa Hyde edges closer to love with 31-year-old bachelor Blake Garvey. But (as of Tuesday) two other bachelorettes, Louise and Sam, stand in the way of Lisa’s dream and all will be revealed in tonight’s final episode (Thursday, 2 October). The final of Channel 10s hit series was also expecting a proposal from Blake. A visit to Noosa occurred in last week’s “meet the parents” episode, in which Blake met with Lisa’s parents John and Anne Hyde. The couple met at a luxury waterfront Noosaville man-

sion, which was later revealed as a holiday rental that may or may not belong to the Hyde family. The rental is listed on the R&W Noosa Holidays website and includes a 25-metre swimming pool, two port jetty access, home theatre and “perhaps the largest walk-in-robe in Noosa” according to the website’s description. The property is priced between $540 to $1050 per night. Meanwhile, Lisa has been described as one of the most honest and caring of all the contestants on the show and her pursuit of Blake has charmed thousands of viewers with messages of support. But there’s a lot of competition in the lovable larrikin Sam and the wifey appeal of Louise - but only time will tell.

Numbers add up By JONATHON HOWARD NOOSA Council mayor Noel Playford has attempted to address financial criticism towards the council, stating that his critics were entitled to their opinions, but in this case “they’re completely wrong”. Several long-time Noosa resi-

dents have been closely monitoring the council’s financial records and have raised concerns about the longterm viability of Noosa Council. The concerns stem from the Queensland Treasury Corporations (QTC) line of credit for the cost of de-amalgamation, as well as capital works and IT infrastructure costs.

Jeff Nuske said he wrote to Minister for Local Government David Crisafulli expressing his concerns and asked the minister to investigate the matter. “The minister has been told Noosa Council’s financial plan for 2014/15 appears to be achievable, but make no mention as to the council’s ongoing financial viability and if council

will be able to maintain the three sustainability ratios required by QTC in the long term,” Mr Nuske said. “I believe Noosa Council’s financial position 2015/16 will be weak since cash reserves, investments will need to be drawn down, along with perhaps increased borrowings. “The 2015/16 financial plans al-
