The building was empty, with plans to redevelop the land. Yarra Junction CFA captain Steve Drennan said the brigade received the fire call at 4.50am but found the building engulfed in flames when they arrived.

YARRA Ranges CIU is investigating a fire that destroyed one of Yarra Junction’s oldest remaining shop-fronts in the early hours of Sunday 29 June. Detective Senior Constable Rod Newbery said they believed an accelerant was used to light the fire.
