Please join us in congratulating our April Employee of the Month, Eric Jessup. Eric has been a member of the Starmount Forest Culinary team for over seven years. He is very creative and is often responsible for creating unique dessert features, weekly paninis, and the most beautiful salads. He is an asset in banquet preparation and works the hotline with ease. In addition, Eric is always positive and just a pleasure to be around and work with. His near-perfect attendance record is worth mentioning as well. Congratulations Eric, we are thankful for you!
Dear Members,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the fresh embrace of spring. As we bid farewell to a vibrant March, I'm thrilled to reflect on the success of our 2024 Annual Meeting. Your engagement and contributions have left an indelible mark on our collective journey, underscoring the vibrant spirit of our club community. For those who were not able to attend or wish to revisit the presentation, a digital copy is readily available for your convenience under the “Governance” tab, “Meeting Reports” section of the website, and a copy was also sent to your email
This is a gentle reminder that the transition to our enhanced biometric entry system for the Fitness Center is underway. If you haven’t yet registered, I encourage you to do so before the end of April. Starting Monday, May 6th, access will require biometric registration, so please take time to register so you can enjoy uninterrupted access to our fitness facilities. Doors will not be locked until May 6th, and after-hours access is not allowed until this date.
It is with great pleasure and immense pride that I spotlight Eric Jessup, our April Employee of the Month. Since joining the culinary team as a Garde Manger nearly eight years ago, Eric has exemplified dedication, excellence, and a profound passion for the culinary arts. His unwavering work ethic, consistently positive demeanor, and meticulous attention to detail have significantly contributed to our team's success, earning him Chef Dicey’s utmost respect and admiration. Eric’s remarkable attendance record, particularly noteworthy in these challenging times, speaks volumes of his commitment to our club. I invite you to join me in celebrating Eric’s achievements and in expressing our collective gratitude for his outstanding contributions the next time you see him around the club
As the days grow longer and the air warmer, I eagerly anticipate the joy of more frequent gatherings with you all. Your continued support and active participation are the lifeblood of our club, and I am profoundly grateful for the sense of community we’ve nurtured together.
Wishing you all the best and looking forward to a season filled with memorable moments at the club.
Warmest regards,
Ray Armini, CCM, CCE General Manager/Chief Operating Officer

White Wine: Valckenberg Gewürztraminer 2022, Germany $28 per bottle
"There cannot be good living where there is not good drinking"--Benjamin Franklin
For over 230 years, P.J. Valckenberg has discovered extraordinary German Estates and acted as an ambassador of their wines. The Valckenberg Varietals represent Authentic and typical German wines. Vintage report: The highs and lows of this year's vintage could be clearly seen in the vineyards. Cool sites near the mountains and with a good water supply fared well against the enduring heat. Grapes on sandy soil, by contrast, matured earlier and more quickly With that said, the Südpfalz was fortunately spared from the enduring drought It was, for example, an outstanding year for Pinot varieties, which came to the cellar in outstanding quality The rains of September have raised the threat of Botrytis, although the meticulous selection work by the harvest team promises top quality here as well All in all, the vintage certainly looks like a promising one
Red Wine: Marietta Cellars OVR Series Old Vine Red Lot #74, California $30 per bottle
Old Vine Red is a proprietary red wine made to replicate the field blends of many of the old vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Predominantly comprised of Zinfandel, Old Vine Red combines pure fruit, a supple mouth feel, and a rich, solid structure. First produced in 1982, this groundbreaking combination of multiple varietals and multiple vintages has blazed the path for red blends for decades. With a national following, it is one of the longest-lasting and best-known red blends produced today. One swirl of the glass and OVR Lot Number 74 jumps with lovely bright plum fruit. Dark and focused with notes of briar patch and black tea, this wine strikes a perfect balance between fruit-forward enjoyment and layered sophistication. Mediumbodied, with a mouth of sweet spice, velvety tannins, and electric vibrancy, this wine pairs with almost any meal or occasion.
Beer Club: Enjoy two complimentary beers of the month each month plus get 50 cents off of every beer all year! $85 per year.

Boot, Beats and Boogie
To achieve accuracy and yardage you are looking for; it is best to learn the proper swing techniques from the beginning. Seeing one of the Golf Professionals for new golfers and experienced players would help establish the basics. Here are a couple of steps to follow.
Grip the club in your fingers, not in the palm of your hand. Use medium pressure for the grip. A grip that is too tight will hinder your release on impact with the ball.
Assume the correct posture when addressing the ball by flexing your knees and leaning into the ball. Allow your arms to hang down without tension. Your knees will be over your feet, and your shoulders will be over your knees Put your weight toward your heels Make sure the ball is positioned off the inside of your front foot, with your feet shoulder width apart for the drive
Look at the target and notice any obstacles or hazards that might be in the way. Decide where you want to place the ball and determine a target line. Align the clubface and your body with the target line. You can also find an intermediary target like a leaf or blade of grass between the ball and the target, to keep your shot online or you can focus on your target in the distance
Take the club back by turning your shoulders. Your left arm should be straight or bent slightly and tension free. Move your arms and the club back so that your left shoulder moves under your chin. At the top of the swing, your wrists will be cocked, and your weight will shift to the back foot
Keep your wrists cocked for as long as possible in the downswing. Ideally, you will release them as you make contact with the ball. Hit the ball squarely in the sweet spot as your weight shifts to the front foot. Keeping your balance and posture in the follow through.
Please call your Golf Professional staff to schedule a lesson so that we can help you with this.
Monday Golf will start on April 1st. Tee times will begin at 3:00 pm every Monday through the summer unless we have a Golf Outing. The driving range will be closed on Mondays.
