Family Program- Year 31- is closing with an interactive Prayer Fair where families have opportunities to experience different forms of prayer: Adoration, Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Visio Divina, the Examen, Guided Meditation, Lectio Divina, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Centering Prayer, the Labyrinth, and will close with a joyful time of Praise and Worship music for the whole group.
Pastoral Associate
Each session of the year focused on a way we can Open the Door to Faith in our lives We framed the year considering what might be different Keys to do that, exploring a new “key” every session.
We explored the keys through reading, reflecting and discussing Scripture, and projects such as creating a Vision Board of their family values. Throughout the year we learned through video, song, art, and prayer. Families had the opportunity to talk and pray about some of the important keys of faith that open the door to our relationship with God: Family/Community, Prayer, Service, the Catholic Church, Scripture, Sacraments, and Saints.
Each family had a Playlist of opportunities for their family to open the door a little wider. Here are a few of the suggestions for our families: Family/Community
• Read the upcoming Sunday readings before going to Mass
• Help at the Waukesha Food Pantry or at a nursing assisted living facility
Prayer
• Pray a rosary together.
• Learn a prayer as a family such as the Memorare Service
• Bring clean, empty plastic bags, and put them in the Jim Luther New Hope Center bin in the Gathering Space
• Take a look at the St. Vincent DePaul page on our website. Volunteer to serve meals or make bag lunches
• Decorate paper lunch bags with encouraging messages and prayers for lunches at the Open Door Cafe
The Church
• Encourage your young children to participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Word during 9:00 Mass
• Learn more about The Papacy with Al McCauley’s Fish on Friday videos
Scripture
• Read the upcoming Mass readings before Mass
• Listen to a few of the Bible in a Year podcast episodes by Fr. Mike Schmitz
Sacraments
• Visit Holy Hill. Attend Mass or walk through the Stations of the Cross
• Attend Mass at a church while on vacation
• Go to Reconciliation at St. Anthony on the Lake on Saturdays
A Family Challenge was offered for families to read the Gospel of Mark as a family. Congratulations to those families that completed the challenge!
Monday evening families were offered time in Eucharistic Adoration from 7:15-8:00 pm. Each class was given time during the year to end their session with prayer in Adoration. We are grateful to our deacons for helping us with this new opportunity!
It was a year full of family discussion and practices of faith which we know is how the Tradition of the Catholic Faith is passed down from one generation to the next generation. We are grateful to the Faith Formation staff, the kitchen help, the catechists, and the dozens of volunteers who make this the vibrant catechetical community it is! We love our families and are grateful for the whole community that nurtures the faith of our children, teens, and parents. It has been a blessing!

This Lenten program is conducted in parishes throughout the entire diocese. 75% of the funds received are used for international relief and development projects, and 25% of the funds received are distributed within the diocese for food programs and other relief efforts that address the root cause of poverty.

March is colorectal cancer awareness month, the deadliest cancer for people under 50. This month we also acknowledge kidney and brain health, and National Nutrition. The Nutritional food pyramid has inverted to increase daily protein to 1.2-1.6 grams per kilogram (2.2lbs) with the focus on whole, real foods (fruits/veggies) and full dairy/plant based foods. Processed and sugary foods lead to many illnesses. God gave us everything we need for healthy choices.

The Catholic in Recovery program offers a meeting for family and friends of people who suffer from addiction, and a separate meeting for those who suffer from addiction themselves. Both the Family and Friends Recovery Group and General Recovery Group meet on Tuesdays in the Parish Life Center.

This Sunday afternoon, March 15th join us for an hour of quiet, contemplative prayer. A Taizé service combines quiet prayer, scripture, and music in a peaceful, undisturbed setting. Developed by Br. Roger Schutz in 1940 during World War II, Taizé has grown into a worldwide movement attracting millions. The service, celebrated in a darken candlelight setting is characterized by simple meditative chants and has become a symbol of unity and peace for Christians around the world.
We need your help– Become an Altar Angel!
Our parish is looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as Altar Angels. These special helpers care for the beauty and reverence of our worship space by: Cleaning the altar, washing and caring for church linens, cleaning the sacred vessels, and replacing the candles in the church.
Each volunteer is assigned just one month per year, making this a meaningful and manageable way to serve. If you feel called to help or would like more information, please contact Vince. Thank you!
Families will end our year together with a Prayer Fair. CONGRATULATIONS to our OCIA catechumen, Anand Patel
Our catechumen (non-baptized individual), Anand Patel, took part in the first of three Scrutiny rites this past weekend. The Scrutinies ritually assess Anand’s readiness for Baptism, and challenge him to “scrutinize” the spiritual, moral, and intellectual areas of his life, to prepare him for initiation. These rites are not just meant for Anand – they present all of us with the opportunity to re-evaluate our lives, and to renew our baptismal promises in preparation for Easter.

Throughout the year one focus has been on organizational skills, improving our quality of work, and balancing the many extra-curricular activities outside of school with homework. Progress has been made, and this will likely lead to a great start in middle school. One highlight we had was the conclusion of our DARE program with the DARE graduation. Deputy Danielski did a great job covering many different topics including using good decision-making strategies, how to respond to pressure, and how to handle and report bullying. All the students really enjoyed this program. Another highlight of our year so far includes the fun activities we do with our 4K buddies. We helped them tie blankets that were donated to the Ronald McDonald House and did Halloween and Valentine’s Day activities with them. The fifth graders do a great job sitting with their buddies during our allschool Mass as they model and assist them
in being attentive during Mass. It is fun seeing the friendships we are creating with them, and it will be great to see these friendships grow throughout the years here at St. Anthony on the Lake. Looking forward to a great end to the school year!

Human trafficking IS in our backyard. Join us for a presentation on this important topic. FBI agent, Amy Mentzel, will provide an explanation of human trafficking, recruitment methods, and the roadblocks faced by victims seeking help.
Anne Haines, founder and Executive Director of St. Bakhita Catholic Worker House, will then share how St. Bakhita’s responds to this issue by providing for the housing and community needs of women survivors of human trafficking in Milwaukee, as well as addressing survivors’ trauma and promoting healing.
Resources will be shared highlighting red flags to watch for and how to report it if you see something that could be human trafficking.
