What’s old? Family Program is old. And that’s great! October 4 & 5, Family Program begins year 32. That is something the parish should be so proud to have accomplished! It means that for over three decades parish leaders, catechetical leaders, and parents have worked together to offer the best for our families in a model that honors parents as the primary teachers of faith for their children. It means we have formed a sacred partnership between parents and the parish to give our children meaningful, effective faith formation. Multiple studies have clearly evidenced faith formation that occurs in the family is what matters the most in terms of lifelong commitments to faith. Everything- school, youth ministry, child ministry- are always in a supportive role. A most recent study looked at families where the grown children were active in their faith. They had these factors in common: • Prioritizing family time & being careful not to let extracurricular activities crowd out family activities and rituals • Generous, healthy affection between parents & children • Strong family rituals that enabled the family to regularly work, play, talk, & pray together, often daily • Rituals including regular Mass attendance and regular family prayer • Families looked for ways to take better care of each other • Families discuss ways they could care for others, including simple things like being polite, as well as involvement in things like family service projects, giving, and hospitality. What’s new? An opportunity for the women to gather for morning of reflection is new! Thanks to Christina Holmes, Angie Flanagan, and Debbie Kusch, we will have the first gathering to nurture women’s spirituality in several years. After hearing the featured speaker, Kristin Bird, at an archdiocesan event I knew I wanted her to come to our parish so our women could be as inspired by her as I was! Thanks to a great team of leaders dedicated to this mission, we invite you to: Women’s Morning of Reflection: You are God’s Beloved, on Saturday, October 24. We know how busy women are, so the commitment is just 8:30-11:30 am with an opportunity for Adoration from 11:30– 2:00. We are excited to offer a time to nurture our women who give so much to others. This event is open to women of all ages. Bring a friend or relative or come alone! Please join us! Call the CF office to join or register online using the QR code. What’s new? Have you experienced the loss of a loved one? We know that grief can be a journey. Our dedicated Grief Support Group is offering a new Thursday evening opportunity, Living After Loss. The material that will guide this group was written by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, a renowned grief counselor and author, to usher people thought the grieving process. It doesn’t matter if you lost a loved one recently or years ago. You are welcome to join this group to learn how to live better by growing in your ability to find meaning and new life while living with the loss of someone you love. Women’s Choir Ensemble Begins October 14 Women of all ages are invited to join our newly formed Women’s Choir Ensemble! Wednesday afternoon rehearsals begin October 14 in the church from 1 to 2:15 pm.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!

New Audio System Arriving Soon! As part of the Love One Another Campaign, a new sound system will soon be installed in the church. Included are new microphones for the priests and deacons, at the ambo and cantor stand, and over the choir. There will also be new speakers over the congregation, updates to the speakers in the Gathering Space, new projectors, and enhancements to the cameras for streaming.

Taizé Service

Volunteers Needed to Livestream Sunday Mass

Communion to the Homebound

Do you know someone who will miss weekend Mass due to illness? Would you like to take Communion to them? Pyxes (the small containers used to transport the Eucharist) are now available in the Gathering Space for those bringing communion to the homebound. The process is simple. Before Mass stop by the Eucharistic Ministry station located near the vesting sacristy. Sign out a pyx and receive an instruction card. Take the pyx into church with you. At Communion time take the pyx with you. Once you have received communion, hold the open pyx up. The Eucharistic Minister will place a host in it. Then close the container. If you choose, you may receive the cup, then return to your seat. After Communion, the priest will ask you to stand and receive a blessing. After Mass, the Eucharist should be delivered immediately to the homebound. This is important. There should be no delay in delivering the Eucharist. The following week return the pyx to church. Beginning in October, St. Anthony on the Lake will be holding a Taizé Prayer service once a month. Taizé Prayer is a simple, meditative form of Christian prayer that originated with the Taizé Community in France. It centers on reflection, Scripture, silence, and the repeated singing of short, meaningful chants. Rather than many spoken words, Taizé prayer invites people to slow down, listen for God’s presence, and pray together in a spirit of peace and contemplation.

Baby Bottle Campaign

October is Respect Life month. Our Respect Life committee will have a “Baby Bottle” campaign to collect donations for Life’s Connections. Look for a table set-up in the Gathering Space with empty baby bottle banks. Start collecting any change or donations of cash or check (made out to Life’s Connections) are appreciated.

Waukesha Right to Life “Life Chain” is Sunday, October 4 Our location willl be the same as last year, located on the south side of Bluemound Road, from Janicek Road on the West to Brookfield Road on the East. Our Moms Group met last week for the first time this program year. They are looking forward to another year of growing in faith and friendship together.

9th Grade Parents If If you have a child in 9th Grade this school year and they do not attend a Catholic high school, it’s time to register for Family Program. Catholic school 9th Graders should register for Confirmation preparation using the Catholic high school registration link on the parish website.

10th Grade Parents October is approaching, which means we have just over a month before the Sophomore Retreat. This is an overnight retreat at Camp Whitcomb Mason on November 7 & 8. Sign up link is on the parish website under High School: Retreats. Reminder that this is a requirement for Confirmation.

Confirmation Wednesday Night Small Groups First Session October 14

These meetings are a very important part of the formation of our students. The discussions that are had between small group leaders and the students allow all involved to grow in their faith. The Wednesday schedule is available on our website.

HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

Bridge Program The Bridge is back! This program is for all Confirmed 12th grade students who want to continue to grow in their faith before heading off to college or their next steps after graduation. The Bridge will be meeting at 12:00pm on Family Program Sundays. For those with younger siblings who are in Family Program, we invite you to join your family in the family activity, then go to the adult speaker, and stay for your own class time at noon. Another option is to come for the adult speaker, then attend your class at noon. There will be many other fun opportunities, service projects, and field trips for the Seniors to join in throughout the year. EDC Workers Needed! We are hiring additional EDC help this year. This is an hourly, paid position from 2:20 to 6:00pm (depending on the number of students in attendance). This is a great job for college age students (days are flexible) or adults looking for a few hours per week (your child may attend free of charge). Please contact the school office for additional information.

This past week, the fifth through eighth graders learned from Mr. McCauley about how to be a Channel of Peace, following the example of St. Francis of Assisi.

Do You Know About SCRIP? Scrip is one of the easiest ways to raise money for St. Anthony on the Lake AND is a key part of our fundraising activities. Money raised from SCRIP has been used to help support the purchase of curricular resources, for tuition assistance, and classroom supplies. So how does SCRIP work? You buy either a physical gift card or e-gift card at face value. For each purchase, both you and St. Anthony earns money back. Earnings vary based on the rebate percentage offered by that merchant but range from 1.25% to 22%. Of the rebate earned, 50% goes back to the school and the other 50% is distributed at your discretion to one of the following: Credited to your family’s (or another family’s) tuition in the following academic year Donated to St. Anthony’s on the Lake School Donated to St. Anthony’s on the Lake Choir Paid to you as a cash rebate (2025-2026 rebate was paid out in July 2026) Last year, some individuals earned over $300 in tuition credits and received over $400 in cash rebates! To honor and thank Dr. Kathie Amidei and Fr. Tony Zimmer for their more than 50 years of combined service to our parish and more than 75 years of pastoral ministry in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, the A-Z Legacy Fund was established this year. An anonymous couple committed $100,000 to begin the Fund. Now it is our turn to join in. Every donation will be matched 4 -to-1, up to $50,000 through at least year end, whichever comes first. The A-Z Legacy Fund is a river of hope flowing into a world in need. Kathie and Fr. Tony, with Human Concerns committee collaboration, direct the Fund distributions to support urgent national and international needs, such as famine and disaster relief, mainly through Catholic Relief Services. Kitchen Manager Needed Do you love preparing food and helping others? St. Anthony on the Lake is looking for a Kitchen Manager to assist our parish with food preparation for various events. Position includes some evening and weekend work. If you enjoy cooking and would like to be a part of our parish community in this way, we’d love to hear from you!
