Annual Seminary Dinner Will Be Held October 9

It is with great joy and hope for our future church that I invite you to join us in attending the annual St. Francis de Sales Seminary Dinner. In particular, we would like to express our support for our own seminarian, Michael Milam, who has been faithfully journeying through his formation and is an inspiration to us all. By attending the dinner, you not only have the chance to enjoy a memorable evening but also to contribute to the ongoing education and spiritual growth of our seminarians. Your presence would mean a great deal to our own seminarian, Michael Milam and all those who are discerning their vocation. IT’S ALL IN THE PLANNING Vince LaTona, Director of Music & Liturgy If you’ve ever been involved in the planning of a wedding, a family or college reunion, a fund raiser for a charitable organization, or even a simple golf outing, you’ve made a plan. You’ve made lists, phone calls, done research on-line for the best deals, most likely you’ve spent weeks, maybe months, perhaps even a year getting ready for the event. Yet most of the time we are expected to pull a funeral together in a week’s time. We Christians find comfort Our and Military great raysParishioners of hope in the midst of this very dark time, yet family members often feel rushed and pressured into making a quick decision about how a loved one will be remembered and put to eternal rest. Preplanning some of these very important details for the visitation and funeral Mass insures you that your wishes will be carried out. Choosing the psalm, readings, and hymns ahead of time will truly help your family members, by relieving them of some of the planning burdens. The pastoral team at St. Anthony on the Lake is here to guide you through some of these very important decisions, walking with you and counseling you in the planning of your funeral. Preplanning is not a decision that should be made lightly, and we encourage you to take as much time as you need; nothing is written in stone, and you can always change your mind as the years pass. The most important decision to make is getting started. I encourage you to start thinking about preplanning your funeral Mass and making an appointment with me to begin the discussion. 4 • PRAYER & WORSHIP Monthly Taizé Prayer Services Begin in October Beginning in October St. Anthony on the Lake will be holding a Taize Prayer service once a month. Taizé Prayer is a simple, meditative form of Christian prayer that originated with the Taizé Community in France. It centers on reflection, Scripture, silence, and the repeated singing of short, meaningful chants. Rather than many spoken words, Taizé prayer invites people to slow down, listen for God’s presence, and pray together in a spirit of peace and

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) 9 am Sunday Mass | Open to All Children Ages 4 - Grade 1 During 9 am Mass, kids age four through Grade 1 are invited to an age-appropriate Liturgy of the Word designed just for them. Children gather in front of the altar with their catechist and are then sent forth by the presider to learn about the Sunday Scripture through prayers, songs, and readings. They return to their families following the Prayers of the Faithful. No registration needed.

Interested in becoming a CLOW helper? Our Youth and Teen Helpers are instrumental in making Children’s Liturgy of the Word run smoothly. We are looking for helpers Grade 5 and older to participate in this ministry. Scan the QR Code to learn about the responsibilities and the link to sign up.

No street shoes please! Gym shoes (as long as they have not been worn outside) socks or slippers are fine. You are welcome to bring a snack and eat at the tables in the lobby by the gym.
