Do you believe in angels?
According to Gallup News, approximately 7 in 10 (roughly 69 – 70 %) of U.S. adults do. Perhaps not necessarily as winged, and haloed creatures floating on Heavenly clouds. But certainly, in the Biblical sense that they are immortal, purely spiritual, personal beings created by God with intelligence and free will to praise Him, act as His messengers, and serve as guardians for humanity. They serve as messengers of God’s plan, protectors, and intercessors.
Over the years, here at St. Anthony on the Lake Parish, my belief in the pure and joyful ministry of ‘Angels Among Us,” has only grown, because of the angelic presence of so many of you. Your good and generous stewardship, your care and compassion, and your hard work and dedication have sent me countless messages of hope, love, and faith. Case in point, this weekend’s 7th Annual Signature Event in which we honor and celebrate the many “Angels Among Us,” who in word and deed have reminded us that the Kingdom of God indeed is at hand. And as they say: “the proof is in the pudding.” This year:
• We will welcome 340 guests
• We will give thanks to the 63 sponsors who have collectively donated over $131,000 to help underwrite the cost of this event
• We will give praise to all of our volunteers, including the entire Confirmation Class of 2026 for their dedicated service
• We will honor and celebrate this year’s recipients of our Profiles in Faith Award, Jim and Cheryl Oliva
• We will say “thanks” to all of our school children who created our angel ornaments
• We will bid high and often on the many silent and live auction items donated by parishioners and local businesses
It takes an army of hard working, dedicated, and passionate leaders to create this memorable and meaningful gathering. I want to personally thank our dedicated Signature Event Cabinet Team:

On Sunday afternoon, March 29th the Choir and Musicians will present their annual Palm Sunday Concert with Lenten Sketches, a cantata by Joseph Martin. Begin your Holy Week in prayerful contemplation with this beautiful and inspiring musical piece. Combining sacred artwork, holy scripture, and exquisite music, it’s the perfect way to enter into Holy Week. Proceeds for the concert will benefit the mission and ministries of the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary, one of our Partners in Mercy. Childcare is provided. On Sunday afternoon, March 15th join us for an hour of quiet, contemplative prayer. A Taizé service combines quiet prayer, scripture, and music in a peaceful, undisturbed setting. Developed by Br. Roger Schutz in 1940 during World War II, Taizé has grown into a worldwide movement attracting millions. The service, celebrated in a darken candlelight setting is characterized by simple meditative chants and has become a symbol of unity and peace for Christians around the world.
We need your help– Become an Altar Angel!
Our parish is looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as Altar Angels. These special helpers care for the beauty and reverence of our worship space by: Cleaning the altar, washing and caring for church linens, cleaning the sacred vessels, and replacing the candles in the church.
Each volunteer is assigned just one month per year, making this a meaningful and manageable way to serve.

Sacraments are outward signs instituted by Christ to give us grace. This week in our Family Program, families explored the beauty and meaning of the Sacraments and discovered how each one is connected to Scripture. It was a wonderful opportunity to grow in faith together and see how God’s grace is at work in our lives through these sacred signs.

Last Open Gym of the Year

Devon Thiel 7th Grade and Middle School Science
As we journey through Lent, the seventh-grade students at St. Anthony on the Lake led the school community in the Stations of the Cross. As the students meditated on each station, they could walk with Jesus through the final moments of his life. Most sixth and seventhgrade students participated in the 12th annual Catholic Memorial High School STEM Challenge, where they designed paper rockets to land within a target zone. Students were judged on rocket weight, creativity, proximity to the target center, and the extent to which they incorporated math and science. Everyone had a great time, and one team of students earned first place.
In sixth-grade science, students have been learning about natural disasters tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, and floods. After our discussions, each student researched two different disasters and created PowerPoint presentations. They are also analyzing earthquake data; I am compiling datasets and having them make tables and graphs in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
The seventh-grade students just finished units on types of energy and energy transformations, focusing on potential and kinetic energy. They solved equations for kinetic and potential energy and examined a roller coaster example to see both energies in action.
Our eighth-grade students have been studying mitosis and meiosis. They used foldable graphic organizers to reinforce the stages of mitosis and meiosis, which will help prepare them for high school. This work leads into lessons on genetic variation and inheritance, with upcoming models and hands-on activities to illustrate these concepts. We are looking forward to a strong finish in science class this trimester.
Presentation on Human Trafficking

Human trafficking IS in our backyard. Join us for a presentation on this important topic. FBI agent, Amy Mentzel, will provide an explanation of human trafficking, recruitment methods, and the roadblocks faced by victims seeking help.
Anne Haines, founder and Executive Director of St. Bakhita Catholic Worker House, will then share how St. Bakhita’s responds to this issue by providing for the housing and community needs of women survivors of human trafficking in Milwaukee, as well as addressing survivors’ trauma and promoting healing.
Resources will be shared highlighting red flags to watch for and how to report it if you see something that could be human trafficking.
Be deliberate about saying “no” to some things so you can open up time for a regular date night. Saying “no” to one thing allows you to say “yes” to other more important things. So what really IS important to you?
