In striving to meet the needs of our future, the Generations of Faith campaign will also allow our current students to experience the blessings of a growing campus. Your campaign pledges will ensure that construction begins on schedule and that the academic year remains as uninterrupted as possible. It is a blessing to belong to the St. Anne community, who provides an incredible amount of support in every aspect of campus life. Building of Generations of Faith In 1924, Bishop Christopher E. Byrne of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston asked Reverend John J. O’Reilley to find a suitable location for a new church which would accommodate Houston’s westward growth. The new parish would be named for St. Anne, the mother of the Blessed Virgin. Land at the intersection of two dirt roads, McDuffie and Westheimer, was located and a four-room abandoned farmhouse became the first home of St. Anne Catholic Community. In May of 1928, Bishop Byrne asked the Basilian Fathers to take charge of the growing parish. Having previously opened St. Thomas College (now St. Thomas High School) the Basilian Fathers sought to apply their cornerstone, “Teach me Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge,” to the development of the burgeoning parish and to the addition of a school. In 1930, the school opened under the direction of five sisters of Divine Providence from Our Lady of the Lake Convent. The school was the first Catholic school in the Diocese of Galveston-Houston to be accredited and has remained accredited ever since. In over 89 years, the area around St. Anne Catholic School has changed drastically. Over 4,000 families call St. Anne their parish home and enrollment exceeds 500 students. The school is a microcosm of Houston, fortunate to experience a socioeconomically diverse student body. As St. Anne continues to grow in strength, our aging gymnasium is in dire need of immediate replacement.
Generations of Faith Over the last 93 years, St. Anne Parish has embraced each of us, reflecting a story of welcome, hospitality, care, and community. Generations of Houstonians have come to make St. Anne their home, gracing us as they intermingle major life events into our community. Ours is a simple, but profoundly important story. It is that of Generations of Faith. With that growth as a backdrop, our generation of faithful is now called to fulfill the developing needs of the St. Anne Catholic Community. After extensive planning and parishioner input, we are humbled to embark upon St. Anne’s Generations of Faith Campaign, to meet our community’s needs today and for those of future generations.
The Generations of Faith campaign seeks to raise $1 million from the families of St. Anne Catholic School to construct a commons building that includes a new gymnasium, athletic and multi-purpose space for enhanced learning centers, educational facilities, and theatrical productions. The building will provide for a commons building, renovation of athletic fields, and a community center with expanded ministry facilities and a parking garage to in which to host campus visitors.

Over the last 93 years the St. Anne community has embraced each and every one of us.
Today, it is our turn to embrace St. Anne. The current gymnasium and stage was constructed in the 1930’s and is in desperate need of upgrades, including an aging HVAC system, deteriorating floors, and malfunctioning locker rooms. More importantly, the location of the building displaces students during the school day creating security concerns. The new commons building will meet the needs of our evolving and growing school, along with strengthen the quality of our educational programs.
1 Commons Building A commons building that includes a new gymnasium, athletic and multi-purpose space for enhanced learning centers, educational facilities, and theatrical productions. This building will help provide a modern learning environment, best serving the growing needs of St. Anne School students and charting a course to make the School the most modern 21st century Catholic grade school in the Archdiocese and among the highest ranked private schools in the region.
2 Community Center with Parking Garage A community center with a parking garage and expanded ministry facilities will bring more parking spaces inside the Parish grounds. Ministry facilities will be added for Parish organizations, such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and other ministries.
3 Renovated Athletic Fields Renovation of athletic fields to enhance the current space with a more competitive and modern soccer field and track. Both the commons building and the athletic playing fields will provide dual use for the School and the Parish.
