Urban Portable Bedroom

Most homeless persons struggle daily to find a safe place to sleep. By providing them with a mobile house, they could avoid unwelcome public attention. Mobile homes may be mounted to public bikes and moved throughout the city, allowing them to be set up in different locations. This strategy would make the homeless safer and appeal to transients. 02

Home Less Home

In this experimental park, the homeless can pause their travels while also taking advantage of the showers and food. And if they need help getting back into the workforce, they have access to counseling and training programs. Homeless people can use the park as a secure place to sleep at night. Health and counseling services are included as well. Last but not least, the park gives the homeless a place to feel supported by others. 05

The platform acts as a divider between the historical past and the present, spreading along the landscape to provide up possibilities for engagement with the already established base and structures. A symbiotic appearance of the new and the ancient and a novel kind of coexistence between the artificial and the natural come from this interaction of three levels: natural, artificial nature, and man-made. 10

Overexploitation Aspirations for a better life and the resulting demand for material commodities fueled the industrial revolution. People's quality of life increased when they moved into upgraded villas, and the government became more open to building additional public facilities. As a result, a great deal of construction activity ensued. However, as time progressed, the durability of these structures deteriorated. People kept moving on in pursuit of better housing, leaving the structures to stand alone. 11

Transformation Without human upkeep, natural forces will eventually overwhelm abandoned human-made structures. The outer shells are eroded by the wind, water seeps into the ground, and vines creep up the walls. The buildings' deterioration into ruin over time represents their transformation from artificial constructions into an integral part of the natural environment. The human debris that littered the landscape has been rearranged and reimagined into these ruins, which still fit in with their natural surroundings and symbolize a biologically consistent organic metamorphosis. 12

Concept This design approach is an attempt to create a new visual synergy between the artificial and the natural by preserving vestiges of the ruins and incorporating a platform that organically builds from the terrain. The main goal of the plan is to create a space where people can think deeply about the ruins and reflect in peace. 14

This building's border and communication with the outside world are mediated by a reflective surface. It not only provides a window into the goings-on inside, but also serves as a mirror for the world beyond. Through this medium, we are able to traverse the chasm t h at s e p a rat e s t h e b u i l d i n g 's i nt e re s t i n g passageways from the square's lively atmosphere. 18

Am Hof Square is a significant historical site and a famous municipal square. I aim to continue to perform its original function while also providing citizens with access to new passageways under the building.

By incorporating the idea of twisting, I am able to increase the reflective impact on the facades and reflect more of the cityscape on their glass surfaces.

Concept Reflect Mirrored glass surfaces will illuminate the cityscape, g i v i n g s q u a re v i s i t o rs a u n i q u e ex p e r i e n c e. The city and light will change throughout the day, creating a changeable image on the glass. 19

Am Hof Square is an important part of our city's history and a much-loved public gathering place. Our plan for the redesign aims to pay tribute to the building's illustrious past and enduring allure while modernizing key aspects of its architecture to better serve its users and enrich their experience.

04 Revealing the Unseen Gravity-Fed Modular Gray Water Filtration System

A creative full-scale prototype of a portion of this design that is architecturally built into the wall. This prototype provides an effective way to display capsules that are easily accessible and aesthetically pleasing. The idea is to make it vertically stacked and modular so that you can touch it and actively maintain it in your house. It should also have an open design, so that spare parts can be easily replaced if needed. 26

Hypothesis By allowing users to customize the filtration media, the system should experience less clogging, inefficiency, and wear and tear. This theory suggests that enhanced functionality and longer device life can be achieved through user involvement and maintenance. 29

Rib Structure

In order to thermoform plastic, I accomplished this by CNC milling and crafting the mold from high-density foam. I experimented with different rib heights and distances to create the strongest structural integrity possible.

Edge Trimming

I used a trim saw to carefully trim their edges to ensure that they fit together perfectly. To achieve the right fit, I used an offset routing bit with an offset distance of 1-3/8" to trim the plastic pieces' edges. 30

Edge Sealing

After trimming the plastic pieces, I sealed the edges with Supreme Silicone Clear Caulk to prevent water leakage. This allowed for a tight fit and ensured that the edges were sealed properly to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage.

Connector

I created an 8-part connector using 3D printing to connect the lid and body with M6 bolts and nuts. It took almost two days to print. I then assembled the lid and body together and attached the 8-part connector. 31

Architectural Consequence The modular greywater filtration system can be installed vertically as a wall, making it easy to monitor water consumption. The filtration system is integrated into the wall design so that the water distribution system in each zone can be observed. The unique setup raises consciousness about the importance of water conservation. 32

Impact It’s reasonable to assume that every house has this set up. Households in areas with a water shortage may be able to use this as a graywater filtration system. This idea has the potential to transform houses into self-sustaining, closedloop water reuse systems in regions where fresh water is scarce. As a result of this innovation, households can save money and conserve water by using less water from the mains.

Urban Yellow U r b a n Ye l l o w i s a n I n s t a g r a m account dedicated to capturing the beauty of yellow in Taiwan, analyzing patterns in each photo.

Urban Yellow is an Instagram account trying to observe and record the beauty of yellow in Taiwan.

The main concept of this project is to analyze the pattern in each photo.

Island Coffee Island Coffee is a local coffee shop in Taoyuan that promotes local coffee from Mt. Ali while prioritizing environmental sustainability. 40
