STANG Magazine September 2026 Issue

Page 1

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! - Daniel Ramey, Editor-In-Chief

SPECKED AND DRIVEN BY STEVE SALEEN...

My name is Hunter Dunn and this is my 2018 Saleen Mustang White Label #001. This particular vehicle was used as a press vehicle for Saleen.

I grew up in the back of Mustangs because of my Father and the majority of those Mustangs were Saleen Mustangs. So that is how I got into Saleen and the Mustang world, but the people, community, and events is why I stayed. Events like Mustang Week, Ponies In The Smokies (PITS), and Foxtoberfest are just some to name a few and the amazing people who put them together. Also the amazing organizations that help and give back to the community, such as the Saleen Club of America and the Saleen Heritage Foundation.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquir ing this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

I love my Saleen. It is 2018 White Label #001. This car was specked and driven by Steve Saleen. It has a few unique features such as the yellow stripe in the grille, where others are red, and the upgraded Black Label exhaust and wing. The Saleen Mustang, as well as all their vehicles have the whole package. Not only do they look amazing, but perform and handle just as good. It doesn’t matter if it is one of their trucks, XP8, or N2O vehicles, they are all amazing to drive!

LINE...

My name is Linda Reed and this is Helfira, my 2022 Mustang GT. My dream since a little girl was to own a 69 or 70 model, but I was blessed with this instead for now. The car was purchased fresh off the assembly line to dealer within two days.

The car has louvers, Borla cat back exhaust, clutch spring, wheel spacers on back, interior from Kustom Interior, JLT cold air intake, after market rear spoiler, 93 tuned, ghost cam tuned, and all reflectors blacked out. All tunes were done by DRP Motorsports out of Harrells, North Carolina.

A NEW SENSE OF HOPE AND PURPOSE...

We suffered a wildfire in August of 2023 which consumed our award winning ‘07 GT/CS. We were devastated by the loss of the car. We kept an eye out for a replacement car over the course of the next year, but nothing stood out until we came across this ‘06 GT. Torch Red was not our first color choice, but with only 47K on the clock, and the overall condition of the car, we couldn’t pass it up.

We bought this GT in December of ‘24. The previous owner had added a few of his own touches like, LED sequential tail lights, heat extractors in the hood, and blackout badges. We took it to another level with custom wheels, 1½” lowering springs and other suspension components, body mods, cold air intake, extensive paint correction and ceramic coating, and several interior touches. After working all that winter on the car, we were hoping to do well at some of the Mustang shows in the area in 2025. We entered three shows with exclusive Mustang classes and trophied in all three.

Kinda proud of how this 2006 is transforming. We’re putting some more work into the car this winter. Mostly under the hood. Overall we’re having a blast with the car and the attention it draws.

My brother and I have built cars years ago, but both of us are suffering from health issues (plus I’ll be 70 in June) that won’t allow us to do what we used to, so this has been very therapeutic and given me a new sense of hope and purpose.

ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED MUSTANGS EVER BUILT...

My passion for Mustangs has been a big part of my life and two of the cars that stand out the most to me are my 2012 Coyote Mustang and my 2014 GT500 Night Venom. The 2012 Coyote Mustang was where my appreciation for modern Mustang performance really grew. The 5.0 Coyote engine had the perfect balance of power, sound, and reliability, and every time I drove it, it reminded me why the Mustang legacy has lasted for generations. It wasn’t just a car to me - it represented freedom, performance, and the feeling you get when raw American horsepower meets the open road. That passion carried even further when I owned my 2014 GT500 Night Venom. That car was on another level, with the supercharged power and aggressive presence that makes the GT500 one of the most respected Mustangs ever built. It had the kind of performance that commands attention, but it also carried the heritage of everything the Mustang stands for. For me, Mustangs are more than just vehicles - they’re a connection to American muscle car history, performance, and the excitement that comes every time you turn the key and hear that engine come to life.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I NAMED HER ELVIRA...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

My first Mustang was a 1979 Mustang GHIA, which I bought in my senior year of high school. I also met my wife in high school, which I am obligated to say was the best part of school, not the 302 V8 automatic fast little pony! After owning 3 other Mustangs after the 1979, I was able to purchase my new 2008 base V6 automatic, with only 5 miles on it (my test drive miles) and I named her Elvira. My base 2008 V6 had more horsepower (210) than my 1979 V8 (140)!

I realized the new S197 had a whole aftermarket industry of modifications to acquire. Not only was there practically everything performance-wise you could think of, but also all forms of accessories and decals inside and out. I hit the ground running and have not looked back. I started with a BBK cold air intake that came in chrome with a blue filter. I didn’t plan on any color theme, but I thought it looked fantastic with the black, I have themed all the mods in the engine and throughout with chrome and blue accents. I have added many modifications over the past 16 years.

I have taken Elvira to numerous car shows and have won trophies and awards. I store Elvira every winter, and after 17 years, only 22,000 miles on it.

I have lost both my parents and then my wife suffered a stroke in 2018 and has continuing medical issues from it. When life gets tough, I know I can drive Elvira to the car wash or the grocery store and get a boost from people stopping and asking about her, she is like a mini traveling car show. I enjoy doing small town car shows and talking about muscle cars with other enthusiasts. I’ve also really enjoyed the opportunity of being featured in different Mustang magazines.

WE LOVE CRUISING IN IT...

My name is Terry Worth from Festus, Missouri and this is my 1998 SVT Cobra nicknamed “Low-T.”

This was my step-son’s car. After he passed in 2018, I pulled it out of the garage where it had been sitting in for over six years. I started rebuilding it in 2021 with a fresh 380 hp 4.6, new rear end, clutch, exhaust, and a complete suspension lowered 3” in the rear and 1-1/2” in the front. It got a fully painted under carriage and the engine compartment was freshened up as well as the interior with a new carpet and headliner. I finished it off with a blue on black exterior.

When I started on this project my goal was to just build a nice little street car, but everything I did led me to getting deeper into it. I removed the ground effects to give it a little bit of a old school Mustang look. I wanted to give the car performance upgrades while trying to keep it somewhat looking factory.

We hit about a half dozen shows a year, Street Machine Nationals, Mother Road Festival, and a few local shows. We love cruising in it and it’s a fun little car to drive.

KA CHOW!

This is a 2015 Mustang GT (Snead McQueen). My name is Jared Bellew and I’m the owner of Snead McQueen. It’s been a dream of mine since I was like 15 years old to own a Mustang. My whole family are Mustang fanatics and I’ve been around them my whole childhood. I got lucky at the casino one year and hit a jackpot and I told my wife I was getting my dream car! I started scrolling on Marketplace on Facebook and found this car not too far from where I live in Alabama.

After owning the car for a couple of years, I decided I wanted it to stand out and be different from any other Mustang or sports car on the road. I came up with idea for the Lightning McQueen wrap and I went with it! Best idea ever! Everywhere I go no matter if it’s hours away or five minutes down the road it turns heads and someone is always taking pictures, videos, or telling me how awesome it is!

Now I do birthday parties and events with it in my spare time and the smiles it puts not only the kids faces, but the adults as well, make it worth every penny and second I’ve put into

this car. If I can make a kid’s dream come true just by driving a car/character they love then that is what it’s all about. Ka Chow!

Her name is Freedom...

My owner served in the Army. I wear an eagle on my hood to represent all branches of the military. My wings are the red and white stripes of the American flag. My body is blue and white stars. My talons tear through the flames to symbolize the struggles our military must go through every day to protect our freedom and all those who call this great nation home. The wrap on my trunk comes from a painting my owner painted a few years ago that has a soldier standing and one kneeling.

LET’S GO CRUSING!

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

This is “The Lady in Red” or in short, “Red Lady”. I bought her as a project car in January 2024 in Georgia. I’m the 4th owner. Family and friends always said “Your Mustang crazy!” They might be right, I drove four and half hours one way from Tennessee to the other side of Atlanta, Georgia in snow to look at this car and bought it the following weekend. It needed struts/control arms replaced but mostly had various missing or exterior cosmetic issues but the wheels, body, interior, and engine were in good shape for the price and year model. My goal is to fully restore it as it was new in 2011.

Over the past few years, she has received new door mirrors, new wiper cowl, ROUSH front billet grille, ROUSH chin splitter, ROUSH side rocker splitters and rear bumper valance with ROUSH exhaust tips. Something to note: the three billet inserts for the front fascia were missing at the time of purchase and ROUSH no longer offers them so I got creative and used the old front billet grille I replaced and cut it into three pieces to fit into the fascia. I have new racing stripes and body badges waiting to go on after the new Racing Red paint job is done and then add some ceramic coating. I also did some engine dress up and added a strut cross bar, ROUSH strut cap covers and chrome cap covers for all fluid reservoirs. As a personal touch I added chrome interior door handles, orange

and red side marker LEDs, touchscreen JVC system with Mustang maestro dash kit with front, rear, and side cameras. This is my third and most powerful Mustang I have owned. Never thought I’d own a ROUSH. Looking forward to car show season. Let’s go cruising!
