STANG Magazine October 2026: Editor's Choice Issue

Page 1

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! - Daniel Ramey, Editor-In-Chief

HOLDS MULTIPLE WORLD RECORDS...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

Jessica and Tyler Hassing have turned their passion for Ford Mustangs into a relentless pursuit of speed, precision, and excellence. Their world record Mustang represents more than just horsepower and engineering - it’s the result of countless hours of dedication, innovation, and a shared vision to push beyond limits. Built with purpose and driven with confidence, their Mustang stands as a symbol of what happens when determination meets performance, earning its place among the fastest and most respected builds in the standing half-mile community.

Their Mustang holds multiple world records. In its prior configuration and driven by Tyler, it earned the world’s fastest stock Gen 1 Coyote in the 1/4 mile record in 2022 with an 8.26 @ 164 mph. Once that accomplishment occurred, the car transitioned to a competitive half-mile race car for Jessica to chase goals. Originally only hoping to join the 200 mph club, the bug was caught when this was accomplished in 5 passes at the first half-mile event they took it too and they knew it could do more. Sights were set on a world record, and joining the 230 mph club. This took a bit more time, big changes to the car, and was achieved in Aug of 2025. In addition to the 1/4 mile world record, it now holds the world record for the fastest Ford Mustang in the standing half-mile, as well as the world’s fastest female driven 2 wheel drive vehicle in the standing half-mile.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquir ing this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

the runway reflects their commitment to the brand, the craft, and each other, always leaving room for the question: how much faster can it go? Their journey continues to inspire fellow enthusiasts and racers, proving that passion, persistence, and the spirit of Ford performance can turn a dream into a record and a record into the drive for what comes next.

This is just the beginning as they set sights on 250 mph and working towards more world records in a new Mustang that is currently under construction.

For the Hassings, the love for Ford Mustangs runs deeper than competition - it’s a lifestyle rooted in family, teamwork, and the thrill of chasing the next milestone. Every run down

ONE WING - 2014 MUSTANG

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

IT BECAME A DREAM COME TRUE...

This is One Wing, my 2014 Procharged V6. The name One Wing is a tribute to my favorite video game villain and character, Sephiroth, from Final Fantasy VII. I bought it February 2017 with 24,431 miles on it at Tindol Ford in Gastonia, North Carolina, and it became a dream come true.

I’ll always remember telling my dad I wanted a Mustang and he laughed because I was just a teenager at the time. Then at the age of 25, almost 10 years later, I got my S197. Then my husband built my dream car. From installing a D-1SC H ProCharger to swapping out a blown motor in 2024 and getting it back on the road for me on my birthday. Over time, it went from being unloved and stock to my pride and joy that it has evolved to in the present day. There’s no better feeling than being able to look back at it and say “that’s my Mustang.”

SUPERSNAK2 - 1969 SHELBY GT350

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

THIS

CAR WAS STORED FOR 40 YEARS...

In 1969 Shelby revised the GT350 and GT500 with the most differences from the base Mustang with all new front, rear end, and hood. The Hertz standing order of 1000 Shelbys was reduced to 150 in 1969 and this one was one of 5 with a Traction Lok rear end and the most rare color, Grabber Yellow. The “H” was also dropped from the GT350H on Hertz units.

A “Supersnake” was a nick name given to Shelbys personally owned or modified by Carroll Shelby himself. The first Supersnake was a 1966 Cobra with 800 hp from a 427 dual Paxton Supercharged car. The second was a 1967 427 GT500 Mustang. At 88 years old Carroll added a Paxton Supercharger to a 70 Shelby with 351W that he was not able to do for the 69/70 GT350. Carroll stated that it was his intention to explore the use of Paxton superchargers when Ken Miles and Phil Remington put a 427 into a Cobra in a single night. That was the inspiration for this car, SUPRSNAK2.

This Shelby was sold to Hertz in June 1, 1969 and then went through several owners and was purchased by the current owner in 2022 with 22,000 miles. This car was stored for 40 years indoors and then repainted in 2008.

SNAKE CHARMER - 1969 MACH 1

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

MACH 1 IS THE TERM USED FOR THE SPEED OF SOUND...

In 1969, Ford created the Mach 1 as an enhanced version of the GT. Mach 1 is the term used for the speed of sound 343m/s 767.269 MPH. This Mach 1 was ordered fully loaded with the 351W 4V engine and FMX Automatic transmission P/S, PB, deluxe interior, fold down sports rear seat and Mach 1 graphics.

In 1994, the Mach 1 was fully restored and the powertrain was modified for street strip action and Chrome Yellow paint applied.

The 351w stroker makes 500 hp naturally aspirated and ran a best of 12.78s at 109 mph. The power adder boosts the power to 750 hp. The setup uses moderate compression and low boost, 8 psi with Meth Injection and Liquid/Air intercooler. The Mach 1 has seen action for the last 30 years in the Toronto area and at Armdrop Drag Racing from 2010 - 2019.

The Mach 1 has taken home numerous trophies for drag racing and at shows like Mega Speed and Motorama. This Mach 1 was featured at the 50th Anniversary Ford of Canada celebration at Ontario Place April 17, 2014. After a win against a Cobra and then a Viper, the car was named “Snake Charmer.” It was also featured in “Muscle Cars” summer 2021 issue.

I ENJOY EVERY BIT OF ITS CRAZINESS...

My name is Ben Kindred and this is my 1990 Mustang GT. My car has been featured in the Mustang book by Robert Kennedy called Unbridled.

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

My car’s nickname is Black Sunshine but most associate it with Foxbody Addicts, a Facebook group I started in 2012 because at the time, there weren’t any Foxbody specific groups. I initially bought an 88 Mustang GT because I found one I couldn’t stop thinking about in 2010. It was no prize piece but I have wanted a Foxbody for as long as I can remember. Some dream cars may be Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche etc… mine was a Foxbody. It had to be black and had to be a GT. What I bought was primer grey and I may have been a little too excited when I made that choice. The body was very rough and needed more work than my skillset and budget would allow. It did have a strong drive train though! After starting to modify things under the hood and changing the interior to black, I revisited the body work idea and found my current 1990 in 2014. It was a black GT that needed very little body work but was a roller at best. No drive train, not a great interior and needed additional work. I swapped everything usable from axles to the center console over to the new body - which worked out better anyway as the black interior I had in my 88 was made for the later models anyway.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. manual valve body that is controlled by a Holley Terminator X. I am still absolutely in love with this car and I enjoy every bit of its craziness. It was not an easy or quick build but was worth every penny and every drop of sweat and blood that I have poured into it. I have no plans to ever stop working on it.

This is my 1989 Saleen Mustang. It is nicknamed “Diablo.” My crew and I completed nine years of restoration last summer. I won two Best in Show and one First Place awards. My passion for Mustangs started when I was around eighteen years old. I come from a long line of car guys including my dad, brother, uncles, and cousins.

My wife got me this for my 45th birthday. It was not up to my standards so then began the long nine years of restoration “my way!” What you see here is the finished product!

HIS LEGACY LIVES ON...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

Preston Brown shared a deep love for Ford Mustangs with his dad, Guy - a bond built on time spent together and dreams of restoring cars side by side. Preston owned both a 2000 Mustang and a 1983 Foxbody, the latter a special project he and his dad had planned to rebuild together. He was also a proud member of NUMOA, the Northern Utah Mustang Owner’s Association. At just 21, Preston’s life was tragically lost to suicide, leaving a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him. In a powerful show of support, the Mustang community honored him at his funeral with a moving tribute of cars, burnouts, and a parade - an unforgettable expression of love and unity.

Today, Guy is continuing the dream he and Preston once shared. He is restoring the 1983 Foxbody Mustang, transforming it into a symbol of suicide awareness and prevention. He believes this car can help tell Preston’s story, spark important conversations, and bring hope and healing to others. Thanks to generous donations, much of the restoration is in progress, including a rebuilt engine, a V8 swap, and performance upgrades. Guy’s greatest hope is to finish the car with a custom paint design inspired by an RC car Preston created - adding a deeply personal touch. Preston was deeply loved and is missed every day, but his legacy lives on through this meaningful project.

You can follow along with the build and show your support through our Facebook page called Preston’s Mustang Support Squad: Driving On For Hope.

OTHERS CREATE LASTING MEMORIES...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

This is a 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that we call “Animal.” It is Oxford White with a 5-Speed Manual. Some cars are purchased. Others become part of the family story. Animal is firmly the latter.

My dad originally purchased the car in 2007 with just 2,689 miles on the odometer. Practically brand new, the Mach 1 quickly became a centerpiece of our family’s automotive passion. Over time, a handful of tasteful modifications were added to enhance the car’s character without overshadowing what made the Mach 1 special from the factory. Powder-coated valve and coil covers dress the engine bay, while Ford Racing 4.10 gears, Cherry Bomb Vortex mufflers, and a short-throw shifter sharpen the car’s performance and driving experience. A set of aggressive AFS 10.5-inch rear wheels completes the look, giving the car a stance that perfectly matches its personality.

For me, this Mach 1 represents more than just a car. It’s where I learned to drive a manual transmission and where my passion for Mustangs truly took hold. Growing up, I listened to my dad’s stories about the Mustangs he had owned, raced, and loved. Those stories helped shape my enthusiasm for the brand long before I ever owned one myself.

That legacy came full circle two years ago when my parents added a 1970 Mach 1 to their collection. Around that same time, ownership of Animal passed to me, with the odometer reading just 21,689 miles.

Today, the car isn’t a daily driver. Without storage of my own, Animal resides at my parents’ facility, where it’s carefully maintained and brought out to be enjoyed when the opportunity

arises - exactly how a car like this should be treated.

Over the years, the Mach 1 has earned recognition at numerous shows, including two Best in Class awards, along with Police Choice, People’s Choice, Mayor’s Choice, and several additional top honors. While work commitments don’t always allow me to attend as many events as I’d like, one thing has remained consistent: whenever Animal appears, it draws attention. Some cars simply make noise. Others create lasting memories. Animal does both.
