STANG Magazine June 2026: Editor's Choice Issue

EDITOR’S CHOICE

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! - Daniel Ramey, Editor-In-Chief

PRINCESS - 1969 MACH 1

OLD SCHOOL VIBES...

MEMBERS OF THE STANG MAG FAMILY ARE MORE PASSIONATE ABOUT FUN AND INCLUSION THAN THEY ARE THEIR CARS AND THAT SAYS A LOT!

I’m Gail Garrett and I bought my “Princess”, a 1969 Mach 1, in 2010 as a driver in decent shape. It had a transplanted 351 Cleveland and C-6 Automatic, so my husband knew he could help me customize it the way I wanted it to be.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. I loved that car but acquir ing this one reinvigorated my passion for car shows and events!

A new intake and 4-barrel carb from Edelbrock, MSD ignition and coil, and Pertronix Ignitor for the distributor woke her up. The 18” & 20” wheels got sold and replaced with the set of polished aluminum American Racing Shelby rims that are 8x15 in the front and 10x15 in the back - old school vibes from my husband’s ‘69 GT Fastback Mustang in 1971 that I loved.

Over the years we added a billet grille, KC HiLites for the inboard high beams, Lakeside traction bars, LED tail lights and NOS Walker Continental Blue Swinger glass pack mufflers. Even with the old paint job from the 90s, I had a popular show car.

In the summer of 2021 we secured a slot at a body shop to have the Gulfstream Aqua paint re-done. I lost my husband that fall and with all he had done for my car, I went ahead with our plan. I added a disc conversion to the front brakes and dressed up the engine bay with a chrome export brace and Monte Carlo bar. 16 months later I had a Mustang that always wows everybody at car shows and everywhere else I drive her to. She is not a trailer queen, just my beautiful Princess.

ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY...

My name is Joey Marshall and here is my 2011 Ford Mustang powered by a fully built JPC 5.0 Coyote with twin Hellion 62/64 turbos. Ran by a Holley Terminator Max X ecu and Ams-2000 boost controller. It has a manual valve body 4r70 trans from Freddy Brown with overdrive and lockup, which is great for all the drag and drives we do with the car. It is set up with trans brake, 2step, line lock and bump box. Also, car is fitted with an 8.50 cage and parachute. We are running Menscer double adjustable front shocks and Viking double adjustable rears with the cobra jet spring kit. Jarrod Aspegren at Aspegren Repair in Sutton, Nebraska does all the mechanical work on the car.

The Mustang is set up for drag and drives and has been all across the country doing them. We have done Race week, Death week, Sick week, Sick Smokies, Cruise and Lose, The Circuit, and Kotor, with more to come. It has a matching trailer that we carry all of our fuel, tools, tires, pit scooters and everything else we need for the trips.

THE CAR WILL NEVER BE DONE...

I found my Fox in 2006 hiding in an airplane hanger in Fargo, North Dakota. Newspaper ad said it was green but I wasn’t feeling green so I passed on it. Two weeks later, the ad was still up and my brother convinced me to just go take a look at it. The owner pulled the cover off and low and behold, it was Reef Blue! I took it out for a test drive right to the gas station and the rest is history!

“Ruthless” has gone through many changes since my buddies introduced me to the drag strip. Started in the 14s and now sitting .064 away from my 11.99 in the quarter. In 2020, I repainted the whole car with a fresh coat of Reef Blue and then the engine went to a wet nitrous kit to supercharger, back to nitrous and back to a V3 Vortech supercharger that sits on a fresh 306 knocking on the door of the 500 hp mark. I swear the car will never be done.

IT REPRESENTS BUILDING SOMETHING WITH MY OWN HANDS...

My Mustang passion has always been rooted in building, not just owning. The S550 platform gave me the perfect foundation, but I wanted more than bolt-ons - I wanted boost, reliability, and full driver engagement. BeanzBoosted runs an upgraded On3 twin turbo setup pushing 12 psi on E85 through a return-style fuel system with FIC 1200 injectors, GT500-based fuel system, ARP head studs, OPGs, and crank sprocket upgrades for durability. Boost is controlled through a Turbosmart E-Boost2, and airflow is handled by an 85 mm BBK throttle body and 2018 manifold with lockouts.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. tang. It’s a twin-turbo street car built by its owner, for real performance, real driving, for the love of the platform.

Power is sent through a Stage 2 Calimer MT82 with a twindisc clutch and lightweight flywheel, keeping the car manual and true to its roots. It sits on 20” Velgen wheels with a staggered setup that matches the aggressive twin-turbo stance.

BeanzBoosted represents more than horsepower - it represents building something with my own hands, refining it, and pushing limits responsibly. This isn’t just a boosted Mus-

I

JUST LOVE MUSTANGS...

My name is Keith and “Kristen” is my 1966 Mustang coupe. She has a stock 289 V8 C code, dual side exhaust, and a C4 transmission with only 1,400 miles on her.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. Growing up, my dad and I worked on cars. He had a 63 split window Stingray and 55 convertible T-bird. As a freshman in high school, my dad bought me a mint 66 Mustang Pea Green with pony interior but I was in a accident and it was totaled.

Anyways my dad bought this car a little over two years in November. He passed away a month after he bought the car and I didn’t know he did until after he passed away. I believe he wanted to work on her together again.

I just love Mustangs on the look and sound of them.

I DECIDED TO MAKE IT MY OWN...

This is my 1966 Mustang fastback, nickname is Sky Blue. I have owned this Mustang Fastback since February 2015. I purchased it from a man near me who was 93 years old and had spent the majority of his life restoring Mustangs in his backyard shop. He had a stroke and could not finish this Fastback. He died a few months after I bought it. This was a base model Fastback by the VIN in Ivy Green with Gold interior. I decided to make it my own and the vision began to come into focus.

If you asked me if I thought I’d be writing an article for STANG Magazine for my car this time last year I would’ve said no. If you asked me if I would be writing it about a different car than the 2005 Roush Mustang I had I would’ve said hell no. After years of restoration and some setbacks it was finished. It has numerous custom modifications. It is Acapulco Blue with Bright White painted stripes. This was a Shelby color available in 1966. I only wish it was a true Shelby. It has a custom steel hood with air brush artwork under the hood. It currently has a modified 302 engine with AOD transmission. I have pages of modifications that are too numerous to list in this article. I have won with this Fastback at numerous Mustang Club of America shows, as well as World of Wheels and local shows.

I AM HONORED TO OWN AND PRESERVE THIS VEHICLE...

This Mustang was originally owned by Glenn and Barbara Hopson who bought it brand new. Glenn is a Vietnam Vet who served in the Air Force as a Ranger who was the security outside of the walls of the base. I am Greg Bixler, President of the Heart of Dixie Mustang Club in Montgomery, Alabama of which they are members of. Glenn came down with Alzheimer’s and is not able to enjoy his Eagle 1 like he used to. I was given the honor to purchase this Mustang in February 2026 and preserve it. There is much more to this story but that is the short version.

Glenn took this GT and took it to a whole new level. He added many custom modifications to it. The eye-catching air brush work of the eagle, American flag, and and under the hood military tribute. It has numerous military tributes all over it. They gave me a memory book full of everything they have added to this Mustang including all the receipts and pictures. They have won numerous awards at Mustang Club of America shows, as well as World of Wheels and local shows. I am honored to own and preserve this vehicle and hopefully enjoy it as much as they did.

IT STILL HAD THE ORIGINAL SHELBY LABELED SHOCKS...

I bought my 1969 GT 350 in 1978 from the original owner with 100k on the odometer. The car was used up but nothing was repaired or replaced and it still had original Shelby labeled shocks. This car has been on Sears Point and Laguna Seca raceways as well as the very last drag day at Fremont Drag Strip (Baylands). The car started life as a Hertz rental car, 1 of 150 in 1969.

A few years ago it was featured in “Gasoline” magazine, a car mag in Sweden. Also a few years ago it was the subject of “Krass and Bernie” a 3 page cartoon feature in Car Craft Magazine showing how I bought the car, restored it and found out later it was a Hertz rental car. Last summer it received the Mayor’s award at the Danville car show, only 5 awards were given for over 400 cars.

I restored it in 78 and again in 2012. Car has the original drivetrain and sheet metal and fiberglass.

I’LL NEVER SELL IT...

This is my 1969 Mustang Mach 1. The car has been in Mustang Monthly, Fast Fords (readers rides) and a two page article in the November 1998 issue of Mustang Illustrated, entitled “Midas Touch” because of the 18 karat gold plated Weber side draft carbs. Also, Johnny Lightning Toys made a 1/64 model from the article. I call it “White Lightning.”

My passion for Mustangs started at the NYC Worlds Fair when I was 10 years old. I got to ride in a white convertible Mustang at the Ford pavilion. I was hooked. In the summer of 73, I bought the Mach 1 from my uncle for $800.00 and still have it today. My father taught me how to drive a stick in this car. Also dated my wife, drove it to college, and did some street racing. I’ll never sell it.

Over the years, I made modifications so it handles, stops, steers and is more reliable. It is great on the street and cruising on the highway. For me it’s a time warp back to when i was 19 and just learning to drive it.

I DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO SELL TO SAVE UP...

My passion for Mustangs started in 2017 when I bought my first Mustang, a 2005 Mustang GT. I added a few appearance touches to make it mine. After owning for two years, I decided it was time to sell to save up for a Shelby GT350.

In due time, I came across one, a 2017 Avalanche Grey with Black stripes. I took a road trip all the way to the state of Washington. Sadly that car was very short lived as it had the famous oil consumption issue. Up for sale she went.

Fast forward a couple years, and that takes us into 2021. I was truck shopping and came across a dealer that had an allocation for a new Shelby GT500. I was told if I bought a truck, they would give me the allocation with no added ADIM. Sold! I bought me a truck and placed my order. A few months go by and this puppy pops up.
