2022 EDITOR’S CHOICE

Mustang enthusiasts have asked for a magazine that has no ads, no sales pitches, and no bogus “fillers” to eat up space. They have asked for a magazine that is free, easy to access, and nothing but focused on Mustang pictures and content. They have asked for a magazine produced and written by Mustang owners. They have asked for a magazine that highlights the daily drivers and the average Mustang that is driven and is not a trailer queen. They have asked for the chance to one day have their ride, their group, their club, or their cause to be recognized in print or online. It is our absolute pleasure to meet these standards and to give you STANG Magazine. We hope that both our message and our image will be seen in every Mustang community out there. Thank you Mustang fans and enjoy your ride! - Daniel Ramey, Editor-In-Chief

STEPPING BACK INTO HISTORY

As we begin our journey into the descent of madness that is my mind and the crazy antics of my life, I would like to first introduce myself. My name is TJ, blah blah blah, that sums it up and all you need to know. Whew…got past the CRAP no one cares about! Now for the good stuff. Mustang culture is one that is very unique and brings

together people from all walks of life. One thing is for

adventures like no other.

Welcome back STANG enthusiasts. It is April and we are all revving up for the start of a new season. The fresh crisp morning air and the sounds of a huge posse of Mustangs roaring down the street is like being in heaven. One of my favorite events to attend are the STANG Paranormal ghost hunts. I have always enjoyed visiting old sites of the spooky and macabre. Do I see any ghosts? No, but to step back into history and submerse yourself into someone else’s shoes and live through their experiences is wild. One tour that comes to mind is the Old Jail Museum in

Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Built in 1869-1870, this jail has a very dark history. Seven Irish coal miners known as members of the Molly Maguires, were hanged here for

A BETTER PLACE –1971 MACH I

THIS CAR WAS ALSO IN A BAD PLACE IN ITS LIFE BUT WITH THE SUPPORT FROM MY WIFE, I WAS ABLE TO BRING IT BACK TO ITS FORMER GLORY. We’ve all been through some bad times in our lives. This car and I are no different.

One day I responded to a local ad about this real, 1971 Mach 1. It was stored all the way in the back of a dimly lit abandoned warehouse. It needed a full restoration but it was complete and had a clean title. This car was also in a bad place in its life but with the support from my wife, I was able to bring it back to its former glory. I got it home and didn’t waste any time getting it stripped all the way down to the bare body. From there, it was media blasted so I could evaluate the damage from these northeastern roads. I replaced most of the sheet metal with a one

The interior was restored with brand new original white TMI upholstery, new seat foam, one piece headliner, ACC carpet and factory gauges. The car retains its original factory fold down rear seat. It pumps out the tunes through a custom audio sound slidebar radio with Bluetooth, six Polk Audio speakers, two Rockford Fosgate amplifiers and two Polk Audio 8” subwoofers.

A BETTER PLACE –1971 MACH I The 351 Cleveland engine block was bored .030 over and fitted with a Molnar forged crank, Molnar forged rods and Diamond forged pistons to bring the displacement to 408. A custom grind Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam, probe 3/8 pushrods, link bar roller lifters, a pair of Trick Flow 225cc aluminum heads with 1.7 roller rockers, Weiand single plane intake and a Holley sniper fuel injection system tops off the engine. Shifting gears is completed through a TKO 600 tremec 5 speed manual trans with a hydraulic clutch setup and a McLeod extreme street clutch kit. The car is fitted with a CVF Racing eight rib serpentine belt system and a hyper spark ignition system. The car rolls on US Mags Bandit series 18x8 in the front and 18x9 in the rear wrapped with Nitto 555 tires with 245/40/18 up front and 275/40/18 in the rear. The car was and still is equipped with Ram Air induction, power steering, power brakes, tachometer, air conditioning, fold down rear seat, competition suspension, body side tape stripes, rear spoiler, and deluxe Mach 1 interior. Only 311 were made in this paint and trim combination. Since the restoration has been completed, the car has won several local first place trophies and was a special feature car at 2021 Ford Nationals at Carlisle,PA. The car took seven years to restore. Needless to say, the car and owner are definitely in a better place. PHOTO CRED: ROB WALKO PHOTOGRAPHY JOHN WANZEL
