Most of our afternoon activities are included in the cost of your child’s registration. The only exceptions to this are SWIMMING LESSONS at the YWCA (4 lessons for $60, limited to 15 children/2 instructors each hour) and our “Very Beginning English” lessons through activities (5 days for $100). Camp Information Welcome to Summer Adventure Camp! Program Hours The Adventure Camp program hours are Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-4 p.m. with after care until 5:30 pm. Internship Program Our Internship Program is a big part of our camp experience. Interns will learn professional development skills, communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving. Most of all, they will collaborate with others for the same goals. For freshmen: Interns will be a part of our internship class and activities during the hours that are convenient to their family. For sophomores: Interns will advise us of their family’s schedule, and we will schedule around that. Once scheduled, interns will be expected to follow the schedule. Interns will have instruction for part of the day (including activities) and will work part of the day as an employee. Hiring Information To be accepted into the program: • Fill out a general application. • Meet with the director for interview. • Complete the background screening appropriate to your age. • Sophomore interns: Work permits must be obtained from the State of Hawai‘i and payroll papers must be turned in. For freshmen: Freshmen interns will learn leadership skills from all staff and time at camp will be as a volunteer. For sophomores: Time will be half and half and interns will volunteer for half the day, learning many skills to use at camp. Interns will also work as an employee four hours per day. All paychecks will be provided to on or about the 10th and 25th of each month. Middle School Camp Come join our camp and enjoy a great time with other middle schoolers! Local and international children in grades 6-8 are welcome to come and experience great activities, field trips, new skills, crafts, cooking and much, much more! Cost: $275 per week.
Preschool Camp Welcome to our Preschool Camp! Children ages 4 and 5 who are not attending kindergarten may join our Preschool Camp. They may take a nap each day if requested. A child is ready for camp if: • They are completely toilet trained (except for occasional accidents). • Can follow instructions given by their leaders and helpers. • Will not try to run off, hide or escape but instead will stay with the group. • Will tell a leader if there is a problem such as a toilet accident or someone else is being unkind. Food Service Lunch is included in the camp registration fee and a menu will be provided with your registration confirmation. If your child has specific food needs (e.g. gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.) you may provide your own food each day – there is no way that we can accommodate all food needs. Along with the menu items, we will provide a salad bar, chicken nuggets or sandwiches as an option. Unacceptable Behavior Unacceptable behavior at camp will not be tolerated. We provide many fun activities each day, plenty of staff and lots of exercise to keep children busy and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Any child using profanity or bullying will have a conversation with our principal. If the behavior continues, we will discuss this with the parents and in extreme conditions will ask them not to return to camp. Camp Accreditation ACA Accreditation means that your child’s camp cares enough to undergo a thorough peer review of its operation – from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. It means that we have solid policies, staff training and ratios to keep your child safe and happy at camp.
