Four regional gatherings were held in Blenheim, Waipara, Lake Hood, and Wānaka, bringing together Old Collegians from across Marlborough, North Canterbury, Mid Canterbury, and Central Otago. Alumni spanning the 1940s through to recent leavers attended, alongside past OCA President, Sam Crosbie, and Rector, Mark Wilson, fostering strong connections across generations. Set against picturesque backdrops, each event offered a warm and relaxed opportunity for alumni to reconnect, share memories, and welcome both familiar faces and first-time attendees.
60 Years On Reunion Around 50 Old Collegians from the Class of 1965–1969 and their partners gathered for a memorable Founders’ Day and 60 Years On reunion weekend. The celebrations began with attendance at the Founders’ Day Assembly, where David Livesey presented the 2025 1st XI cricket caps, followed by the ever-popular Highland Games and a stirring Pipe Band performance. The festivities continued with a lively cocktail evening and a well‑attended formal dinner on Saturday night. Guests enjoyed a programme of entertaining and heartfelt contributions, including Judge Lee Spear as MC, Bryan Aitken’s Toast to Absent Friends, Philip Crothall’s Grace, and Grant Murdoch’s Toast to the College. The occasion was further enhanced by the presence of Rector, Mark Wilson, and his wife, Judi, attending their first Old Collegians reunion, alongside excellent hospitality from Catering Manager, Russell Gray, and his team.

Janet Storry Tennis Tournament In March, an Old Collegians team faced off against alumni from Christ’s College, St Margaret’s College, and Rangi Ruru Girls’ School for the Janet Storry Shield. This historic competition, which began in April 1930, hadn’t been contested since 2016. Unfortunately driving rain interrupted the tournament, but the team is looking forward to the 2026 event.
OCA Golf Tournament Over 100 golfers played in sweltering conditions in the 90th OCA Golf Tournament on Friday 4 April at Waitikiri Golf Club. Leo Carter (2012) won the Old Boys’ Golf Cup and qualified to play in the Strowan Rose Bowl in November. Michael Simcock (2011) put in a tremendous effort organising the event.

Kevin Simcock and Michael Wells (1979) meticulously marked all the cards, and Mike ‘Scrump’ Johnston (1974) arranged the raffle prizes. The event had great support from Rod Templeton (1972) and the Waitikiri Golf Club, event sponsors, and all the Old Collegians and friends of the College who took part.
Anzac Day Around 500 attendees gathered for the annual Anzac Day service, which as well as honouring the many Old Collegians who have served, celebrated the 70th anniversary of the original Memorial Chapel, built to honour past pupils and staff who died during World War II. Rector, Mark Wilson, also acknowledged Old Collegian, Daryll Fell (1991), who served with both the New Zealand and Australian Defence Forces. His ongoing research has identified 687 Old Collegians and 26 teachers and staff who answered the call of duty.
Rugby Reunion On Saturday 17 May, over 60 Old Collegians and their partners were welcomed back to the College for the annual 1st XV Rugby Reunion. There was a strong turnout of players and coaches from the 1955, 1965, 1975, 1985, 1995, 2005, and 2015 teams, who enjoyed a beautiful day at the Sports Pavilion. A special highlight was the presence of five Old Boys from the 1955 70 Years On team. Before the match, Max and Rex Moore (both OC 1965), Roger Fuller (OC 1975) and Dale Inch (OC 1985) presented jerseys to the current 1st XV players, and shared reflections on their time playing for the thistle.
50 Years On Reunion On Friday 23 and Saturday 24 May, the College warmly welcomed back over 40 Old Collegians and their partners from the class of 1975–1979 for a memorable 50 Years On Reunion. The celebrations included a nostalgic campus tour, a fun cocktail evening, and a traditional Saturday night dinner featuring the Address to a Haggis and heartfelt toasts. Highlights included visits from former staff, reflections from both the past OCA President, Sam Crosbie, and Rector, Mark Wilson, and a strong sense of camaraderie that has endured through the decades. It was a great celebration of lasting friendships and shared history.
30 Years On Reunion On Friday 13 June, more than 80 Old Collegians from the Class of 1995–1999 and their partners returned to the College for their first reunion, with attendees travelling from across New Zealand and overseas. A campus tour highlighted the College’s modern facilities, including the Gough Family Theatre and StACFit Fitness Centre. The evening concluded with a well-attended cocktail function, made especially meaningful by the presence of a number of former and current staff.

Auckland Gathering On Wednesday 18 June, more than 60 Old Collegians gathered at the Northern Club in Auckland, representing generations from 1949 through to 2023. The event highlighted the strength of the College’s enduring connections, with past OCA President, Sam Crosbie, reflecting on its evolution and community, and Rector, Mark Wilson, sharing his enthusiasm for the College’s future.
40 Years On Reunion The 40 Years On Reunion for the Class of 1985–1989 drew an impressive 95 attendees from across New Zealand, Australia, and Japan, making it the largest decade reunion in many years. The weekend began with a campus tour and informal gathering, followed by a warm and engaging formal evening featuring traditional elements, heartfelt tributes, and moments of humour. Highlights included the Address to a Haggis, thoughtful speeches, and a spirited rendition of the College Song, bringing the reunion to a memorable close.
OCA Annual Dinner On Friday 8 August, 140 Old Collegians spanning the years 1945 to 2024 gathered to celebrate at the 2025 Old Collegians’ Annual Dinner, expertly emceed by Head of Development and Community Relations, Tomo Yee (OC 2008). The evening opened with a memorable Address to a Haggis delivered by Noah Fanene (Year 13), setting a fitting tone for the night. Three outstanding Old Collegians were recognised for their achievements: Olivia Brett (OC 2019), awarded the L.G. Maginness Cup for Excellence in Sport following her gold medal success in the Women’s K4 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games; Rick Harvie (OC 1989), recipient of the Cockram Cultural Award for his acclaimed documentary Maurice and I; and Mike ‘Scrump’ Johnston (OC 1974), honoured with The Alister Newton Cup for Outstanding Service in recognition of 26 years of dedicated service to the College. Scrump was also presented with a portrait by Kelvin McMillan (OC 1977), which he accepted with characteristic humility. The evening concluded with a spirited rendition of the College Song, bringing a memorable night of celebration and connection to a close.
Gentlemen’s Luncheon On Friday 10 October, 135 Old Boys aged 73 to 98 gathered for the Gentlemen’s Luncheon, one of the largest in recent years, with milestone reunions from 65 to 80 Years On celebrated. The day featured musical performances, the traditional piping across Turley Bridge, and a shared lunch filled with reflection and connection. Highlights included a humorous and memorable Toast to the College from Wal Scott (OC 1959), along with the presence of special guest Professor Miles Kennedy (OC 1945), aged 98 and Dux of the College 80 years ago, providing a meaningful link to the College’s enduring legacy.

10 Years On Reunion On Friday 7 November, the Class of 2011–2015 returned for their 10 Years On reunion, reflecting on a uniquely resilient school experience shaped by the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Many were struck by the transformation of the campus, particularly the Centennial Chapel and their Centenary Window in Gym 2. The evening also saw strong attendance from notable alumni and former staff, celebrating reconnection and shared memories.
Strowan Rose Bowl Golf Tournament On Monday 24 November, a team of Old Collegian golfers competed in the Strowan Rose Bowl Tournament at Christchurch Golf Club, braving cold conditions to deliver a strong performance. Michael Davidson (OC 2010) claimed Longest Drive and finished second in the Individual Stableford, with Leo Carter (OC 2012) close behind in third. The team placed third overall against alumni sides from across the South Island, continuing the College’s proud tradition in this long-standing tournament.
College 109th Prizegiving The College Prizegiving at Wolfbrook Arena was a memorable celebration of St Andrew’s College talent. Highlights included an outstanding student performance of the Aotearoa Medley, a powerful tribute to the sounds of Aotearoa New Zealand, featuring a beautifully crafted selection of Kiwi classics.
2025 Leavers’ Dinner At the Leavers’ Dinner in November, we were proud to formally welcome the 2025 cohort into the Old Collegians’ Association. The evening brought together 212 Year 13 leavers alongside their parents and caregivers, creating a warm and reflective sense of community. We extend our warmest wishes to our newest Old Collegians as they step into their next chapter and look forward to staying connected in the years ahead.

Finance Report The following financial report provides a summary of the accounts accepted by the St Andrew’s College OCA and lodged with Charities Services (CC27778). BDO Christchurch Audit Limited completed a review of the OCA accounts, and the Executive would like to highlight that: • we engage BDO to undertake a review for the purpose of good governance and to give comfort to the OCA Executive and Members that the OCA’s finances are being appropriately managed; • BDO issued a clean review of the 2025 accounts; • BDO also audits the College accounts and provided a clean audit review of its accounts. This included an audit of the College’s bank account processes; and • a full version of the OCA Performance Report is available on request from the Alumni Manager.
