Future Ready Mindset

26 June - 3 July 2026
This year, our conference is focused on the theme: Future Ready Mindset – Stronger Together. This theme is central to our collective growth, urging us to embrace change and unlock our potential through curiosity, imagination, and courageous collaboration. We will explore what progress we have made as an organisation and what our key priorities are as we go into the new academic year, all while strengthening our community and ensuring we are equipped for the future. I am so proud of what we have achieved together and there is so much more for us to do and so many opportunities to explore.
I am delighted to welcome Allister Frost as our key note speaker, who will be presenting Stronger Together: FutureReady at IEG. Allister’s keynote will focus on transitioning our team from the exhaustion of being reactive to the energy of being Future-Ready.
He will start by challenging you to reimagine your relationship with change and recognise the scary limitations of comfort zones. He will then explore the three human superpowers: Curiosity (“Why?”), Imagination (“What If…?”), and Courageous Collaboration (“Yes, And…”). By reanimating our natural curiosity, imagination, and collaboration, we don’t just keep up with change; we lead it from exactly where we are today.
Finally, Friday will also see us celebrating the exceptional achievements of our colleagues, as we host our IEG Staff Awards. Details of the award categories and nomination process can be found within this brochure and I would encourage staff to nominate colleagues and celebrate their achievements.
I am so proud to be part of the team at IEG and work with such exceptional people. It is through your passion, expertise and dedication that IEG continues to flourish and we make such a difference to the students and communities we serve. My thanks go to all those involved in planning our staff conference – this is a huge task and I am so thankful for your efforts, no doubt it is going to be a great week.
The IEG Staff Conference 2026, themed “Future Ready Mindset – Stronger Together,” offers a comprehensive week of professional development and collaboration that spans inclusion training, curriculum innovation, wellbeing activities, and a dedicated Higher Education conference. This programme is designed to help staff across all campuses embrace change, share best practices, and celebrate collective achievements while preparing for the new academic year.
Prepare to be inspired, challenged and empowered as we embark on this exciting journey together.
I look forward to seeing you all on Friday 26 June at New Theatre Peterborough, followed by our summer lunch back at Peterborough College campus.

We are thrilled to again dedicate a full day to our incredible Business Support Teams during this year’s Staff Development week! Without your hard work and dedication the organisation would not be able to provide the exceptional IEG student experience, generate the impact we have on our local communities, and uphold IEG’s ‘whole-College’ approach. We deeply value the dedication and hard work you bring to our community each and every day.
Join us for a dynamic day focused on professionalism, partnership, and recognition. The day will feature:
• Reflecting on Success and Preparing for the Future: We’ll celebrate the achievements of 2025/26 and collectively look ahead to the opportunities and priorities of 2026/27. Let’s share our insights and build on our achievements from the last 12 months.
• ‘Professional Services’ rather than ‘Business Support’: What does it mean to be part of a ‘Professional Services Team’, how does it feel to work in true partnership with other colleagues across IEG, and what will we change in the way we work on a day-to-day basis to achieve the benefits it brings. We’ll brainstorm what we think the IEG Professional Services may look like, the benefits that working in true partnership with colleagues will bring, and what we will need to change in terms of our own behaviours and responsibilities, to achieve the benefit for ourselves and the whole organisation.
• IEG Values: A reminder and refresh of the IEG values. Are we living them on a day-to-day basis and what can we do when we see others not displaying the values we expect? Are we brave enough to call it out?
• Alternative Awards: Get ready for the ‘Professional Services Alternative Awards’, a special moment to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our staff.
• Team Building Activities: Engage in meaningful networking and teambuilding activities.
Final details, including specific session times, locations, and additional activities, will be shared with managers and staff closer to the date.

We are pleased to announce upcoming invite-only training sessions focused on two key areas:
• White Ribbon: Advancing our commitment to safety and inclusivity.
• Session 1: Reframing the Conversation around Masculinity – The White Ribbon Way This session explores the societal pressures affecting boys and men, blending a strength-based and trauma-informed approach to understand how masculinity is modelled from childhood through adulthood. Attendees will learn to reframe the discussion from “toxic masculinity” to an absence of positive masculinity, gaining key insights on how to adapt language and services to better engage men without excusing harmful behaviour.
• Session 2: The Impact of Pornography on Boys and Men This session addresses the prevalence of pornography consumption among males from an increasingly early age and its direct impact on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). Participants will explore how these trends manifest in society and learn how to define and recognise sexual harassment, breaking the taboo around this topic to effectively understand and challenge harmful behaviours.
• Session 3: Developing an Understanding of Healthy and Unhealthy Behaviours Focusing on adult romantic relationships, this final session helps participants differentiate between healthy and unhealthy relationship dynamics. Through two real-life case studies drawn from front-line experience with boys and men, learners will discover how certain outward behaviours can mask deeper underlying issues, gaining the tools to respond with empathy, understanding, and effective support.
• AI for Schemes of Learning: Practical training to integrate AI tools into your curriculum planning and delivery. This professional development session introduces teaching staff to the ‘Gem Ecosystem’, an AI-driven workflow designed to assist curriculum planning. Participants will move beyond basic AI tools to master a ‘Multi-Notebook’ strategy, eliminating common AI pitfalls. By the end of this session, staff will be fully equipped to leverage custom Google Gems to efficiently construct ambitious, Ofsted-aligned Schemes of Learning that document adaptive teaching strategies and contextualise English and maths (E&M) within the curriculum.
