Led by the Association of Colleges (AoC), Colleges Week shines a spotlight on how colleges are engines of opportunity, helping people of all ages gain skills, progress into work and higher education, and contribute to local and national economic growth.
Across Peterborough College, Stamford College and University Centre Peterborough, IEG supports thousands of learners each year through a wide-ranging offer that includes technical and vocational education, apprenticeships, adult learning, higher education and tailored support for learners with additional needs. This work reflects the core Colleges Week themes of skills for the future, inclusion, sustainability and community impact.

IEG HOST CAMBRIDGESHIRE CHAMBER NETWORKING BREAKFAST AT CENTRE FOR GREEN TECHNOLOGY
Inspire Education Group (IEG) welcomed members of the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce to its Centre for Green Technology for a dedicated networking breakfast and employer tour.
Held as part of the Peterborough Networking Series, the event brought together regional business leaders to explore how education and industry are working collaboratively to support the transition to a greener economy.

IEG STRENGTHENS EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP WITH APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF LEARNING OFFICER
Inspire Education Group (IEG) has strengthened its executive leadership structure with the appointment of Sarah Young as Chief Learning Officer.
The creation and appointment to this executive post marks a strategic step in the Group’s continued ambition to deliver consistently outstanding provision across Stamford College, Peterborough College and University Centre Peterborough.

INDUSTRY GIANTS SCOUT NEXT GENERATION OF TALENT AT INTER-COLLEGE SKILLS COMPETITION
Peterborough College and Stamford College took part in the Inter-College Skills Competition, hosted at IEG’s Peterborough campus, which redefined what is possible for entry-level vocational students. While Level 1 is the beginning of a student’s journey, this event proved it is also a powerful gateway to professional employment.
Endorsed by WorldSkills UK, the competition allowed participants to benchmark their abilities against their peers and realise their potential on a national standard. To celebrate the high level of craft displayed, a premier selection of professional trade tool prizes was awarded to the top performers in each category, providing them with the essential kit needed to kickstart their professional journeys.

IEG APPOINT JAMES WHYBROW AS VICE PRINCIPAL FOR APPRENTICESHIPS AND HIGHER EDUCATION
Inspire Education Group (IEG) has appointed James Whybrow as its new Vice Principal for Apprenticeships and Higher Education, effective from March 2026.
James joined the Group Executive Team and took on strategic leadership for apprenticeship provision across the Group and higher education delivered through University Centre Peterborough (UCP).

PLEDGE TO TACKLE PETERBOROUGH NEET CHALLENGE GAINS MOMENTUM WITH INSPIRE EDUCATION GROUP
As a major education provider across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, IEG is drawing on its extensive experience in supporting young people and communities through education, skills development and community support to deliver a dedicated Community Navigator programme, improving access to highquality information, advice and guidance and creating real local impact.
The initiative, led by IEG and funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA), supports the Government’s Youth Guarantee within the national “Get Britain Working” policy, which aims to ensure all young people can progress into education, employment or training.

STAFF SUCCESS SPOTLIGHT: SOPHIE MAY, 3RD PLACE AT PETERBOROUGH POET LAUREATE 2026
Inspire Education Group is celebrating the success of Sophie May, a member of the Apprenticeships & Online English and Maths team, who recently achieved third place in the 2026 Peterborough Poet Laureate competition.
The Peterborough Poet Laureate competition recognises poetic talent across the local area and celebrates the role of poetry and creative writing within the city’s cultural landscape. Sophie’s success in the competition represents a significant external achievement and highlights the creative talent within Inspire Education Group’s staff community.
