From the Desk Of
Dr. Autumn A. Graves Each spring, I invite groups of seniors to lunch and ask them to describe their class in one word. The 93 members of the Class of 2026 kept landing on the same few: dedicated, devoted, driven, successful, caring. The accolades bear that out — National Merit finalists, a Coca-Cola Scholar, a QuestBridge match, over 30% playing a college sport, an actor who has starred in a New York City musical, and firefighters and EMTs with thousands of hours of service. Beyond the accolades and the matriculation lists, however, in reflecting on our Class of 2026, I consider our Portrait of a Graduate (stab.org/portrait). It outlines 16 characteristics, attributes, and mindsets we want for our students to embody. The attributes are centered around our mission and the words of Founding Headmistress Mary Hyde DuVal, who wished for our students to become “strong in body, broad of mind, tender of heart, responsive in soul. And when I reflect on the 93 members of the Class of 2026, I think of a class that is strong in body — they fell, and they rose. They are broad of mind — they asked questions that no one could easily answer. They are tender of heart — they served when no one was watching. And they are responsive in soul — they went looking for something larger than themselves. 2

Yes, the Class of 2026 embodies Mary Hyde DuVal’s wish, and even more so, they are exemplary citizens ready to make our world a place filled with integrity, curiosity, creativity, agency, and respectful of diversity, creating positive impact wherever they choose to live and lead. Over the next few pages, you will see a snapshot of the colleges and universities where our newest alumni will no doubt go on to find success this fall. You’ll also find accolades for our amazing student scholars, artists, and athletes, and phenomenal faculty, staff, and families. You’ll find photos that capture the joy and the vibrancy of our age 2 through Grade 12 community, and articles from the year that tell our stories. We hope they bring a smile to your day as you refresh and renew this summer. STUDENT ACCOMPLISH Caroline Reilly ’26 and Kate Reilly ’26 earned their Eagle Scout badges, completing all 21 requirements to earn the prestigious rank from Scouting America. Kate and Caroline were the founding members of Troop 1029, which prior to 2019 did not permit girls to earn Eagle Scout honors. Congratulations to our three teams of Grade 5 students who competed in the Virginia State KidWind competition, who demonstrated impressive growth throughout the air turbine competition project. A special shout out to the Torque Terrifiers, who took home third place in a highly-competitive field! Santiago Norambuena ’32 was accepted into the 2026 Reflections Summer Regional Governor’s School for the Arts. During the 10-day intensive program this June, he honed his artistic skills and knowledge alongside area students, culminating in an exhibit at Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center in Charlottesville on June 24. Following a highly-selective application process, Angel Chen ’27 was selected to attend the residential program for Stanford Mathematics Camp (SUMaC). Angel participated in the online program last summer and was thrilled to be selected for the residential program this year. I’m excited to be surrounded by peers who are passionate about math,” says Angel. “I also hope to explore more advanced topics, such as algebraic topology.”

This spring, 21 Upper School students learned what it would take to translate complicated academic research into plain-language through the UVA Data Research Demystification Project. SHMENTS We are thrilled to share that our Grade 8 FLL Robotics Team, “Next Level,” was honored with an award for the second year in a row at the World Championships in Houston, Texas in May. In a field of 160 teams, our students were recognized as finalists for the Innovation Project Award. In response to the theme, “Unearthed” (archaeology), they partnered with archaeologists on site at Colonial Williamsburg and Monticello to design a float tank used for collecting small indicators of human life from the past. Launched in 2001, each year the Emily Couric Leadership Forum recognizes a young woman at each of the Charlottesville and Albemarle high schools who are turning their passions into positive change for the community, with one student selected for the top scholarship. We are pleased to announce that Finn Parlee ’27 was awarded a gold medal in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for his photograph, “Crucifix.” His work was selected out of more than 335,000 submissions, with fewer than than 1% receiving a gold medal distinction. Learn more about the award and Finn’s underwater photo, which he shot for this Honors Advanced Portfolio Digital Media course at https://www.stab.org/news/post/~board/news/post/finn-p-scholastic-art-and-writing-gold-meda Gavin Couling ’27 earned a Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor for youth civilians. The award is conveyed after young people demonstrate excellence in three dimensions: public service, character development, and physical fitness. To earn his medal, Gavin worked with the non-profits Wintergreen Adaptive Skiing, Virginia Discovery Museum, and Camp Holiday Trails, furthered his physical and personal development through tennis, piano, and guitar, and climbed the Grand Teton over the course of two days last summer.

SAIS Survey Results Survey feedback at a glance In spring 2025, we asked for feedback from our families, students Grades 5 – 12, faculty, and staff through a survey administered by our accrediting organization, SAIS. The Community Feedback Survey provided school leadership with valuable information on a range of categories, including academics, student support, school culture, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, dining, and more. Your feedback has led to several improvements and changes throughout the School, the largest and most visible being the creation of an endowed Experiential Learning Fund. Generously funded by donors during the Maroon & White Gala in April, once invested, the earnings from the fund will benefit all students. Potential experiences include enhanced grade-level trips, allowing
student teams to attend their academic competitions, saying “yes” to more off-campus Middle School Quests and Upper School internships, or purchasing “portable classrooms” to take classes into nature. This spring, the community once again completed the survey, and today, we are sharing high-level results. A more detailed analysis will be revealed in the State of the School event this fall, after the Senior Administrative Leadership Team has a chance to dig deeper into the data this summer. We are grateful to all who participated. Your voice plays a critical role in shaping the school’s direction and deepening our shared mission of whole-child development.

Celebrating the
Power of Our Parents Our parents, guardians, and volunteers lift up the whole Saints community. From inspiring performances to joyful classroom celebrations, parent-led initiatives truly fueled our school spirit this past year. Through the Parents’ Association (PA), Arts Boosters, and Saints Athletics Club, our parent volunteers dedicated invaluable time and talent to strengthen our programs. Thank you for an unforgettable year!

Expanded the permanent collection of student artwork across multiple campus locations (Grisham Hall, Brennan Hall, and Randolph) through the purchase of display frames.

Launched the sculpture and 3D exhibition gallery in Grisham Hall, utilizing Arts Boosters-supported display pedestals.

Provided custom matted labels for the permanent collection frames and 3D pedestals to formally acknowledge Arts Boosters’ support.

Celebrating 2025-26
Faculty Emeriti and Alumni Award Honorees The third cohort of the Faculty Emeriti Program, which was founded in 2024 in honor of the School’s Semicentennial Celebration, were inducted on Friday, April 17, 2026. The ceremony also included the Alumni Association Award. We celebrate the dedication of this year’s honorees.

A teacher, mentor, and champion of students and families, Jean Craig brought a spirit of encouragement and enduring love that defines her legacy at St. Anne’s-Belfield. Mrs. Craig joined the School in 1979 as an Upper School English teacher and later transitioned to the Middle School, where she became a steady and nurturing presence as a “mother” of Walker House. She eventually returned to the Upper School to teach history and serve in the Office of Admission, a role perfectly suited to her gracious personality and attentive listening skills. In the late 1990s, when a group of Grade 8 girls launched the School’s softball program, Mrs. Craig could always be found cheering from the sidelines.
Steve Deupree began his calling teaching Grade 8 Ancient History at St. Anne’s-Belfield School in 1988. Mr. Deupree’s passion for experiential learning led him to lead student trips abroad, where he loved watching students’ perspectives expand beyond the classroom.
Known for her articulate speech and gentle humor, Mrs. Craig left lasting impressions both inside and outside the classroom. She was awarded the Malone Prize in 1998. At St. Anne’s-Belfield School, Mrs. Craig will forever be known for her warmth, encouragement, and unwavering support of students and families.
Mr. Deupree’s compassion for middle school students paired with his commitment to joy and meaningful Chapel experiences, left a lasting mark on the School community. He was awarded the Diana Edwards Smith Teaching Mastership in 2006. Mr. Deupree passed away peacefully at age 76 in February 2024, surrounded by family and leaving a legacy of love.
During his 24-year career at the School, Mr. Deupree became a beloved teacher and steady presence on the Greenway Rise Campus. He led the Middle School Chapel program and strengthened it through greater faculty involvement in sermons. He partnered with Betsy Albro to design an integrated Grades 5 & 6 curriculum featuring team-taught math-science and English-history blocks.

Ann Holland arrived at St. Anne’s-Belfield Middle School in 1977 as the school’s new Latin teacher. Beginning with just five students, she transformed a small elective into a thriving cornerstone of the curriculum. Gifted at connecting with young adolescents, she brought the ancient language vividly to life, famously assigning each student a name from mythology or Roman history on the first day of class. Mrs. Holland also founded the Upper School Latin Club and its beloved annual Magnus Pepo production, which became a cherished school tradition.
For more than two decades, Lisa Keeler has given her teaching talent, direct communication, and pragmatic leadership to our community. While we often speak of teachers planting seeds in their students, Ms. Keeler has grown roots — building a powerful foundation grounded in a love of learning and community, connecting thousands of alumni to the School and to one another.
Years served: 1977 – 1990
Her creativity extended beyond the classroom, from rolling in her own big-screen television for a popcorn-filled “Star Wars” viewing to finding countless ways to make learning joyful and memorable. A passionate educator and a formidable presence among both students and colleagues, Mrs. Holland was equally known for her warmth, humor, and steadfast dedication to the School’s mission. The legacy she built continues to be felt across generations of Saints.

Lisa Keeler joined St. Anne’s-Belfield in 2004 and has experienced our School from many perspectives: parent of two students (now alumnae), long-term substitute, homeroom teacher, K – 8 English department chair, curriculum coordinator, instructional coach and, since 2020, head of the Lower School. Her unwavering passion for students and teachers inspired her commitment during COVID, ensuring our students could return to in-person learning. Hundreds of families will forever be grateful to Lisa for giving students the best possible “normal” academic and social experience during the most unprecedented time in modern history. Retiring this year after 34 years in education, it is our honor to induct Lisa Keeler into the Faculty Emeriti Program.
Lizzie Peters Dudley ’74, P. ’12 & ’14 For more than five decades, Lizzie has given generously of her time, talent and treasure to St. Anne’s-Belfield School. She has served on the Alumni Council for over twenty years, and her extensive volunteer leadership includes Parents’ Association president and vice president, Upper School and Middle School divisional and LINK coordinator, STABFab president, and auction committee member, among many other roles. Lizzie also coached two Destination Imagination teams, one from the Middle School and one from the Upper School, both of which advanced to the Global Championships. In 2014, she was awarded the school’s Marianne Zirkle Parent Volunteer award. As a class ambassador, Lizzie devoted months of planning to create an unforgettable 50th Reunion for the Class of 1974. During her years at St. Anne’s, Lizzie was actively involved in the French Club, Drama Club, and was on the field hockey team. Beyond campus, she built a successful career as a financial advisor before focusing on raising her two children, both alumni of the School.
