SUMMER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. ARE YOU READY?
CONSERVATIVE vs. LIBERAL BELIEFS on some of the up-coming Election Issues….. ABORTION Liberal A woman has the right to decide what happens with her body. A fetus is not a human life, so it does not have separate individual rights. The government should provide taxpayerfunded abortions for women who cannot afford them. The decision to have an abortion is a personal choice of a woman regarding her own body and the government must protect this right. Women have the right to affordable, safe and legal abortions, including partial birth abortion. Conservative Human life begins at conceptions. Abortion is the murder of a human being. An unborn baby, as a living human being, has separate rights from those of the mother. Oppose taxpayer-funded abortion. Taxpayer dollars should not be used for the government to provide abortions. Support legislation to prohibit partial birth abortions, called the “Partial Birth Abortion” Ban. DEATH PENALTY Liberal The death penalty should be abolished. It is inhumane and is “cruel and unusual” punishment. Imprisonment is the appropriate punishment for murder. Every execution risks killing an innocent person. Conservative The death penalty is a punishment that fits the crime of murder; it is neither “cruel” nor “unusual”. Executing a murderer is the appropriate punishment for taking an innocent life.

Take time to grow yourself; only you can grow you. Take time to trust yourself; God trusts you. Take time to be self-reliant; it is better than being dependent. Take time to share with others; they will bless you, and you will bless them. Take time to have hope, you are a child of God.
Let's put ourselves into the hands of the Lord, and pray that God will bless us and our families during the wonderful months of summer.

Unlike the private sector, the government is motivated by public interest. Government regulation in all areas of the economy is needed to level the playing field.
May we all help make our home a place of relaxation, joy, love, peace and safety.
Conservative The free market system, competitive capitalism, and private enterprise create the greatest opportunity and the highest standard of living for all. Free markets produce more economic growth, more jobs and higher standards of living than those systems burdened by excessive government regulation.
Lord God, Creator of all things, guide our steps and strengthen our hearts, during these months of summer and vacation days.

In the first reading, Nathan tells King David a story that helps David to see the terrible sin he has committed. Because he wanted another man's wife for himself, David deliberately placed the soldier in the front line of battle where he would be killed.
En la primera lectura, Natán cuenta una historia al rey David para que vea lo terrible que ha sido su pecado. El tomó la mujer de otro hombre, deliberadamente David puso al soldado en frente de la línea de batalla para que fuera acecinado.
God had given David so many blessings and David now realizes he has sinned against God. David is filled with sorrow but Nathan assures him of God's forgiveness.

Today's reading helps us to see the importance of faith. St. Paul says that having faith in Jesus is what makes us favorable in God's eyes. Paul tells us that his faith is so strong that it's as if he no longer lives, but Christ lives in him.
La lectura de hoy nos ayuda a ver la importancia de la fe. San Pablo dice que tener fe en Jesús es lo que nos hace bueno ante los ojos de Dios. Pablo nos dice que su fe en Cristo es tan fuerte que como si ya no vivieras, sino que Cristo es quien vive en él.
People should be able to see God's love radiating in us. Those who are so intent on keeping the law that they don't reflect God's love are missing the point. Keeping the law is important, but the law alone will not help us to be saved.

The gospel reading tells the beautiful story of Jesus' response to the sinful woman. In her love for Jesus, she disregards the usual way guests are treated at a banquet. She bathes Jesus' feet first with her tears, then with precious ointment, and wipes them with her hair. Simon, the host of the banquet, shows Jesus none of the usual courtesies when he arrives. Moreover he condemns Jesus for associating with the woman who was a known sinner. In telling Simon a story about forgiving debts, Jesus praises the woman. She is forgiven much because of her great love. Jesus points out Simon's need for forgiveness—because of his lack of hospitality, his lack of respect for each of them, and his self-righteousness. The story is a powerful example of the relationship between forgiveness and love.
