(PTO) represents a partnership
of volunteers who aim to uphold the school’s mission statement
by organizing community events, supporting teachers, students and administrators and assisting with fundraising for the student learning experience.

pto Welcome to the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO is an integral part of St. Martin’s Episcopal School. Our mission is to support our school, teachers, faculty and community. As part of the SMES family, you are automatically a member of the PTO. We welcome your time and talents as we plan for more than 40 programs outside the classroom each school year. We encourage you to find a committee to support or lead through your volunteer efforts. There are opportunities for moms, dads, (even grandparents!) with varying time obligations.
Please take a few minutes to choose something rewarding and of interest to you. Then, simply visit stmartinschool.org. Look for the PTO page under “Supporting SMES” to sign up, explore further or connect with any member of the executive board with additional questions.

Warrior Wings
(year round) Bakers and drivers support SMES families and staff during a time of need with a home-cooked meal. Whether a new baby or a death in the family, Warrior Wings is there to help.
New Family Coordinators (spring & summer)
Work with administration to pair Warrior Buddies with new families and plan pre-orientation parties.
Fall Festival
(summer & fall)
Parents make this exciting, carnivallike annual event held on the SMES campus a success. Organizers handle vendor booking, event promotion and ticket sales as well as volunteer coordination.

Jingle Jog
Share some St. Martin’s style hospitality by planning, attending or offering your home to host meet-and-greet parent evenings.
Join us for this festive family 5K fun run! Wear your favorite holiday running garb and enjoy holiday cookies and cocoa after burning off some calories. Volunteers organize and set-up this event.

Veterans Day Assembly (fall)
This annual event honors SMESaffiliated and other U.S. veterans during a special celebration. Volunteers help decorate and coordinate.
Cookies and Carols (Christmas season)
A December event for students celebrating the Christmas season with singing, cookies and Santa. Join the fun by volunteering to bake cookies or pass out treats for this special day!
Family Fun Event (winter)
Students and their families gather for a weekend afternoon activity such as skating or bingo. Volunteers plan and facilitate the fun!

Father Daughter Dance (spring)
Get involved with this favorite SMES tradition celebrating girls and their dads. Volunteers are involved in pre-planning and promotion, set-up, vendor management, day-of decorating and more.
Mother Son Event (spring)
Calling all dads! Volunteer for this fun-filled afternoon of activities for SMES moms and their sons. Event organizers help with promotion and set-up.

Teacher Appreciation
Support a variety of planned school functions by providing refreshments. Events include prospective parent open houses, School Sunday and back-to-school and yearend teacher luncheons.
Volunteers plan and support an assortment of teacher appreciation events throughout the school year: Spring Flowers, teacher birthdays and special meals.

Fall/Spring Fundraisers
The SMES school store sells spirit items and other merchandise during morning carpool and other events. We also sell items online. Visit the school web site at stmartinschool.org to shop for your family and friends or volunteer to work in the store.
School uniforms are donated and sold as a service to parents and a fundraiser for the school. Volunteers coordinate several unmanned “honor sales” throughout the year in addition to the end-of-year sale.
If needed, the PTO sponsors fall and spring fundraisers to raise funds to support SMES and PTO programs. Previous fundraisers have included the sale of bags, wreaths, Christmas trees and a shoe collection. Volunteers help promote and coordinate the fundraiser.

Tennis Round Robin (fall)
Experience a fun morning of St. Martin’s fellowship and friendly tennis competition or volunteer to help with the day’s event.
Book Fairs

Sign up for a shift to help with these two library-connected events. Volunteers set up, break down and assist classrooms and families purchase items from the fair.

Fling/Winter Social (winter)
The PTO’s biggest fundraiser alternates each year between a Fling Gala and a more casual Winter Social. Volunteers help with acquisitions, sponsorships, planning, set up and more.
Recycled Book Sale (spring)
School textbooks are consigned during this annual PTO event for parents and the school. Assist with event coordination, pricing and working the sale.
Lost & Found (year round) Sort and return found items. Spirit Events (year round) Plan on and off campus fundraisers such as restaurant nights and food for sale at SMES sporting events. Storage Coordinator (year round) Manage PTO off-site storage. Orientation Day (fall) Coordinate and decorate for this kickoff to the new school year. Fall/Christmas Decorations (fall/Christmas season) Make the school festive with fall and Christmas decorations! Hay bales, flowers and scarecrows mark the beginning of fall fun. Wreaths and Christmas trees deck the school halls with cheer in the winter. Volunteers decorate and break down after each season. Middle School Coordinators (spring) Plan 8th grade graduation day refreshments and decorations and help with other MS events.
