Family Letter 8_14

August 14, 2023 Greetings, SJA Families! I hope this finds you doing well and having a great start to the school year. Like the beginning of every school year, it is a hectic time with lots of questions and ‘bumps in the road’. We appreciate your patience and flexibility during these first days and weeks of school. We wanted to pass along TWO important updates for you as we start the first full week of school. We hope this helps answers some questions and alleviate any stress that may be experienced. Student & Parent Handbook - Please review the Parent & Student Handbook online at the SJA website or by clicking the link https://issuu.com/st.josephacademy/docs/sja_studenthandbook2023-2024 - In the coming days, your child will be bringing home a “Student & Parent Handbook Contract” (see attached) that needs to be signed by both the student and the parent. - Similarly, students will be bringing home a “Technology Use Agreement” form (see attached) that also needs to be signed by students and parents. - We ask that both these forms be returned by Friday, August 18th. They can be turned in to your Religion Teacher or brought to the Registrar’s Office in the Administration Building. *NEW STUDENTS ONLY*: New Student FACTS, Google Classroom, & SJA e-mail accounts There have been numerous questions regarding Google Classroom and student e-mail accounts, and we’d like to help address those issues. - The school will to ensure all students successfully create their FACTS accounts. This is where students check their grades, view schedules, etc. Students will need a personal email address (gmail.com, yahoo.com, icloud.com, etc.) to create a FACTS account. - We plan to meet with students and have all student FACTS accounts created in the next 7-10 days. - Each student will be assigned a personal SJA email address which will be used for all school correspondence and Google Classroom. This email address will be verified through their personal email address that is on file with their FACTS account. - Once students have their personal SJA email address activated, they can then access Google Classroom to view and submit assignments and materials, among other tasks assigned by their teacher. - Teachers are aware that students won’t have their FACTS, SJA email addresses, or access to Google Classroom for the next 7-10 days and will make the necessary accommodations for their students to ensure success.
