MIDDLE DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY
SJA VISITS SPACE-X SJA's Honors Physics classes and Honors Astronomy students toured the SpaceX facility at Boca Chica on both Friday, September 3 and September 10. SJA Principal, Mrs. Valadez '90, SJA Math teacher, Dr. Fillizola, and SJA Physics and Astronomy teacher, Mr. Miller were the chaperones.
SJA took a total of 65 students to tour the facility. While there, students were divided into groups of four. Each group was given a tour by SpaceX engineers. During their tour, our students were able to see the inner workings of the process as SpaceX workers strive to get the world's largest rocket ready for launch - with a goal of launching into orbit before the end of 2021.
Fun fact: One of the guides was SJA graduate, Miguel Saldana '10, who is now working at SpaceX.

Marist Young Adults and Marist Youth from 10 schools and ministries around the USA Marist Province spent a week in Indiana for the firstever Marist Youth Leadership Camp, from August 3 to 7.

MARIST YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMER TRIP The goal of this camp was to work on practical leadership skills. The students learned important skills such as leading prayer, building small group skills, lead activities, and how to write a talk. These students learned what it means to be a leader and are now ready to run a freshman retreat for incoming freshmen so that they can be a part of the Marist Community and truly understand what it means to be Marist.
"What does it mean to be Marist? This was the first question I was asked at the retreat. During the retreat, I felt closer to my spiritual family than ever. My experience is something I will never forget. The retreat made me appreciate all of the blessings in my life. They instilled in me that through Mary, we will be with Christ. It not only strengthened my faith but shaped my character. With the new friends, brothers, and young adults. I give thanks to God for giving me this opportunity and adventure. Being Marist is a feeling and will always remember to pray for each other," Andrea Jasso '23.

SJA MIDDLE DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY TEAM
MIDDLE DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY Saint Joseph Academy's Middle Division Cross Country Team dug through the ground for the first time this season on September 4, 2021 in Mercedes, TX. If you think running through grass and dirt was tough, imagine running on sand. That's exactly what the middle division cross country team did on September 11. Nothing can slow these Bloodhounds down! The Middle Division Cross Country Team's Schedule is as followed: September 18 @ Rio Hondo (8AM) September 25 @ Hidalgo (8AM) October 2 @ La Feria (8AM) October 9 @ District Meet (8AM)
