Curious Kittens Day Nurseries If you are a parent, our outstanding nurseries will enable you to study knowing that your children (six months to school entry age) are being looked after in a stimulating and caring environment. Nurseries are located at both Kings Road and Goschen. Most students will be eligible for help with childcare costs - please contact the Student Funding team on 01752 305381 for more information. Both our nurseries were graded ‘Outstanding’ in Ofsted inspections in 2012. For full reports visit the Ofsted website at www.ofsted.gov.uk. Application forms are available from the nurseries.

Funding Your Course The government has recently announced some changes to the financial support that is available to students aged 19 or over. If you receive any of the following then you may be eligible for government funding to pay your course fees: c c c c c c c c c c c

Carer’s Allowance Child Benefit Child Tax Credit Child’s Special Allowance Council Tax Benefit Disability Living Allowance Guardian’s Allowance Housing Benefit Incapacity Benefit Income Support Working Tax Credit.

To be eligible, you must be on one of the benefits listed above, be currently unemployed and wishing to get back into employment. These new support measures are in addition to the existing free courses which are available to you if you are: c i n receipt of Job Seeker’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance c undertaking a literacy or numeracy course (including GCSEs*) c aged 19-23 and undertaking your first full level 2 course c aged 19-24 and undertaking your first full level 3 course**. * If you do not already hold a grade C or above in GCSE English or Maths. ** There is no age restriction if you are ex-MOD staff, however eligibility criteria does exist.

FREE level 1 courses! If you are aged 19-23 there is some funding available to support you in undertaking a level 1 course if your aim is to progress to a level 2 course or Apprenticeship programme. If you would like to find out if you qualify for a FREE course then please call 01752 305300.

Paying in installments If your course fees are £100 or more and your course lasts longer than ten weeks, you could spread the cost over a three month period. You would pay 25%* at enrolment and the rest by direct debit, but you must arrange this when you enrol, so bring your bank details with you! * Paying by installments will incur a £10 administration fee which will be charged at enrolment. You will also be expected to pay any material fee at enrolment.

Discretionary Learner Support Fund The College has a Discretionary Learner Support fund which provides financial or ‘in kind’ help to eligible students aged 19+ with a number of course related costs. These funds are aimed at those most in need. The funds mainly provide support for uniform and equipment costs, childcare, and assistance with the purchase of books and hardship grants - you may apply for one or more elements. To qualify you must be: c e nrolled on a part-time course funded by the government c have good attendance c fulfil normal UK residency rules. The amount you are entitled to will depend on your household income.
