AUGUST 2024, Week 2
Dear Members, I’m excited to share that Percita, Amanda, Sandy, and I had a fantastic time attending the annual leadership conference in Itasca this past weekend. The ALF conference is always invigorating, offering us a valuable opportunity to connect with our partners from District 4 (KY, TN, NC, SC) and, this year, to collaborate with California District 9. Our discussions covered important topics including legislative challenges, environmental disparities, and the current pediatric workforce crisis. I was particularly thrilled to hear Abby Nerlinger, MD, a former CHKD resident, speak about Environmental Justice during Saturday's Plenary Session. The conference allowed us to meet with others, discuss how we can work together, and explore both our commonalities and differences across various chapters. Despite any differences—be they political or demographic—we discovered that our shared commitment to doing what’s best for kids unites us. I’m looking forward to sharing what we’ve learned at ALF and finding new ways for our committees and champions to collaborate with the experts we connected with from around the country. Have a wonderful week and as always, feel free to reach out with any questions, comments and suggestions. “Be the change you wish to see in this world.” ~Gandhi Abby Nerlinger, MD & Natasha Sriraman, MD at the AAP Leadership Conference
