The Brownstown Fire Department responded to an unusual but heartwarming rescue after a group of ducklings became trapped in a storm sewer grate. According to the department, a mother duck had led her ducklings across the grate, but seven of the young ducks fell through into the sewer below. Fire personnel carefully worked at the scene to safely retrieve all seven ducklings. After a coordinated rescue effort, all seven ducklings were brought back to the surface unharmed and reunited with their mother. The department noted that while calls like this are unexpected, they are a reminder of the wide range of situations first responders handle-and the importance of quick action in protecting even the smallest members of the community.
